Hi IQ!

I have noticed in my family a recurrent theme in their draconic charts. Most of my family including myh partner, immediate family, grandmother son etc have a planet or angle conjunct the fixed star Algol.

You mentioned in a previous reading how Algol was associated with catastrpohes etc. and gave a possible example of the Irish famine. How else could Algol's influence have manifest itself... Or there any sepcific past events directly linked to this fixed star, for example?

I'm just going on instinct really with researching my family's charts but any help or insight you can give would be greatly appreciated!

according to Bernadette Brady who doesn't use ecliptic longitude projections but parans (a star and planet on angles on the day of birth),

Algol is a star that has to do with female passion. I have Algol in culminating (prime years, 30 to 65) paran with Mars myself.

Algol is Beta Perseus, and so it's a star that is well off the ecliptic. It's no way near the constellation of Gemini where its tropical Taurus placement is at.

This is from Starlight:

Female intense passion
Algol was called Ras al Ghul by the Arabs which means the Head of the Demon and they considered this female demon to be the wife of the Devil. Ptolemy labelled the star as 'the bright one of those in the Gorgon's head. The Chinese called the star Tseih She meaning Piled-up Corpses. In Talmudic Law she is the first wife of Adam, Lilith, who left him because she refused to be submissive to his needs Lilith then fled to Paradise and became a demon of the wind. She was considered a curse as she contained sexual pleasure and was the cause of all male wet dreams. The resulting impact in the Jewish, Moslem and Christian cultures was the suppression in the male of all sexual pleasure which then led to the suppression of the sexual woman. Algol thus embodied everything that men feared in the feminine. She is not the mother face of the goddess but rather the passionate lover or the ***** . She is female kundalini energy. Algol is the wild, raw, frightening face of the outraged feminine which has been labelled as demonic or simply as evil. Thus star contains immense female passion and power. It is the power of the feminine or the potential power of Mother Nature, strong but not to be called evil. This star is a strong consuming passion which may devour you with anger and rage. If one can contain an unconscious compulsion to take revenge and focus that passion into a more productive outcome, Algol is one of the most powerful stars in the sky. Whatever planet it affects in your chart will be charged with strong, intense, sexual energy that has the potential to be wonderful, or if repressed, can lead to rage or violence.

In a recurring family theme, it is very easy to interpret an Algol conjunction.
All of you may have perished in the very same catastrophe in the past lifeline together.
I guessed the Irish Famine because you have chosen to be born as an Irish woman in these times of consciousness change, and that famine was the worst disaster to strike Ireland.

Thank you Iq. It makes sense to me.
I did have a dream that I was hiding in a house from the Nazi's and had thought perhaps there could be a connection but it could have just been a dream rather than recall. I have definite feelings of connection to the Irish famine and it's been something I had wanted to research so I will defintely now.
One more thing.Do you think it's possibly that the karmic implications or instinct for a soul who perished because of famine could bring about an eating disorder in their next life. Maybe like a subconscious feeling of guilt about eating or instinct to not eat?
Thanks for your kindness once again.

quinnie i have algol conjunct my ic, but i haven't really looked into it. but not only did i have relatives who fled ireland during the famine, i think it's highly likely that i was there too!! also from the little i have gleaned about algol and the "female passion" aspect of it, my strong identification with boadicea makes huge sense too...

when i first read the interp of algol and all the disasters it talks about, it didn't make sense to me! i have had my fair share of troubles, but really consider i have also had a pretty charmed life considering the harm i've put myself in the way of!!

and my father's problems with his temper were largely laid on him by his mother, who DID live through some major horrors when she was a young girl that basically branded her for life. his sun was conjunct algol by the way...

thanks for bringing this up. research time!! seems you and i might be even more kindred than i thought.
