Personally, I see astrology as a tool for a better understanding, since it is a system of symbolism based on psychology and other humanity issues. This system mainly blends symbolism, mathematics and psychology together, and I find it kinda interesting to see and understand how these things can be related together.

But I'm also not a total believer of astrology, that I mostly only value the information that would make sense in the real life (for example, aspects that seems to translate my real personality patterns, or current transits that seems to make sense).
Of course, there are times in which curiosity and/or obsession takes over, but in the end, I would still give little value to the information that doesn't seem noticeable in the real life.

For self-understanding, I mainly look at my tropical birth chart, and occasionally draconic chart, progressions and transits. If I see something that makes sense, I'd use it to understand my current situation better. For example, being able to identify one of my traits with my Mars/Pluto/Jupiter t-square helped me to understand this trait better; also, knowing that Saturn is currently transiting my 1st house helps me to focus my current challenges as something that would help me improving myself.

For relationships, I mainly look at synastries to see where are the similarities and differences between 2 people; and then the composite, to see how is the relationship when 2 people interacts.
But then, I'd also look for asteroids, mainly the general love/fate ones. And if I'm curious about soul compatibility or fate, then I'd also look at the draconic-draconic and draconic-tropical synastries (although these are more like extra information).

I hardly look at other things, coz I prefer to keep it simple. Coz with so many tools and information available, it is so easy to lose sight of the big picture. Although I'm still curious whenever there's something around that seems interesting.
I also rarely give readings for other people, specially relationship readings, coz I'm still very unskilled to read birth charts or relationship charts that I'm not familiar with. And giving readings is often a big responsibility.

Anyways.. already wrote a lot here lol. XP What about you guys? What is your main idea about astrology, and what tools do you mainly use?

This exactly describes my attitude.

Honestly, I use astrology to help me advise other people. I am known among my friends for giving fantastic advice (is it my Angel-MC conjunction?) and being really good at psychologically analyzing situations. Astrology is one of several great tools I use for that. I have no idea how or why it's so accurate, and I'm skeptical of explanations of how it works, but it often IS very accurate.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find ANY tool that helps me actually get what I want in my own love life. In other areas--intellectual pursuits, creative process, travel, money--I have been able to learn new skills and apply them and have them work. But I'm stumped in this area. I keep hoping astrology will help me, but it really doesn't.

I dislike the fatalism of certain astrological practices, although I'm intrigued by that fatalism at the same time. I dislike any kind of crudely essentialist thinking or methodology, and sometimes astrology is practiced that way.

I use it as tool for understanding self and others, and so I definitely use it as a psychology. I also use it as a philosophy/religion/spirituality in regards to helping understand the meaning of life and how things work in life. I also use it as divination in regards to finding events. I like predictive Astrology.

I am believer in psychological astrology, evolutionary astrology, and traditional astrology as well as cosmobiology.

“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.”

Lucia23, I have Lucifer conjunct MC lol~ XD I think that it might be your 8th house stellium that shows your great psychological understanding and also great at giving advices. Coz a stellium in the 8th house shows a deep interest in those matters, with a sharp analytic skill. Actually, I also have an 8th house stellium. X3

I don't like fatalism much too, coz aside it making me feel down lol, I don't think that things can be that black and white, simply coz we don't seem to have enough knowledge/wisdom to be able to determine things that accurately, at least in the present time (so many things depends on how each of us interprets it - that's why I prefer to put more value on the information that seems noticeable in the real life).

Sometimes, I also wish that astrology could solve my heart's matters - more like a nice confirmation from fate/destiny. But the problem is, astrology can't really tell what the other person feels, and if everything is going to be fine, etc.. Also, even thought it could show certain things that helps us understand a certain relationship better, in the end, we are still the only ones to have to find a way to solve these issues.
This is actually just like with natal charts - our issues are translated into symbols and configurations, that it makes things easier to understand/visualize, but then, in the end, we have to figure it out by ourselves how to solve things.

Currently, one of the main issues of my life that bothers me is - I have an 8th house stellium (Sun/Moon/Mercury - chart ruler/Venus/BML/Eros/Psyche/etc.) and also 2 Planets in Scorpio (in the 3rd house), but funny is, I have Taurus NN (9th house). With astrology, it became clearer to me that my life lesson is to abandon the dark Scorpio stuffs to embrace the joy of life with confidence. But how? And this is where astrology doesn't seem to show me, so that I have to find it out by myself.
