I'm not sure if astrology can pinpoint paranoia, but I thought it was worth a shot to maybe debate it.

Sometimes I get really paranoid when people are laughing like they're laughing at me, I don't know if it is some weird child complex, because a lot of kids get really upset when you laugh at them, I found this out the hard way!

Pluto.

To a certain extent, neptune - if the paranoia is baseless.

Oh, that makes sense why I get so paranoid about friends and social things - Pluto in 11th house, I think this position for Pluto is really awkward. Plus Pisces Moon in 3rd house, so this explains the social paranoia again!

My natural inclination is to be fairly trusting. Others may have their flaws & bad things happened, but there's usually no malice involved, and everything will probably be ok in the end.

But I've learned to be much more distrusting. Because of my experiences, I get paranoid when someone I don't know does nice things for me, scared that they have a "hidden price tag" that they'll try to collect on later (and it would never be something I'd have traded for had the person been honest & upfront about their "kindness"), including (in extreme cases) acts that are felonies.

It took me awhile to learn that well, though, because my own inclination is to do nice things for people, and it took me a very long time, with a few traumatic episodes, to show me that many people aren't like me (and a few are the very opposite--they're compulsed to act maliciously just as I am to act benevolently). This also affected some acts of charity I did. Like a neighbor got screwed over really bad and her income had been reduced entirely to food stamps alone. So I bought her paper products and cat food & litter (as she had cats) and snuck them onto her back patio. My intent was to not let her know who had done it so that she wouldn't feel nervous about my intentions (also so that I wouldn't be taken advantage of in the future if she was inclined to do that) and take them without fear of "hidden price tags."

Anyway, my experiences have made me cynical and I do get paranoid when someone I barely know becomes too generous.

I've also had a few flashes where I knew someone was dangerous and evil, but I have good reason to think these were psychic flashes (or close enough) as opposed to paranoia. And I can't recall where I had such an intense flash that I found I was being very foolish, and I have had times that I was proven correct. 'Course there were moments I was very distrusting when someone was actually meaning me well (or at least meant me no harm), but there were good reasons for that, and those weren't "flash moments."

Saturn square Neptune is a biggie I've heard, and I have this natally! With Saturn in Virgo my concerns, or paranoia, is usually health related. I am a big hypochondriac and germophobe. When "Swine Flu" was at its peak, I was just short of spraying people who sneezed or coughed in the face with my mini Lysol! I've always been an advocate of the Dracula Sneeze or Cough Pocket and I suggested (to my nearest and dearest) making a public service announcement about it years before a pandemic made it news. You wouldn’t believe how many people on the bus, train, subway still don’t know how to cover their mouths!!!

<sorry, I'm very passionate/paranoid about this>

Hmmm, I am having a moment here.
Trying to decide if what I think is paranoia or just me being jaded.
I always think that every man I know will cheat.
I guess because so far it has been proven true.
Not just mine, but my friends as well.
Maybe we just aren't very good at picking them.

Paranoia is more of a 8th house/Pluto theme or maybe even 12th/Neptune.

I get paranoid when my brother (and also sister) meets people that I know. He/she normally plays the big brother type, but in a bad way. If I have met someone who has been speaking with my siblings before, you can guarantee they will know all about Me, and my life. I dont like that.

I remember one time where siblings arranged a party, and told me to bring a few people only, as too many were coming already. I only invited a few and they turned up - just them. None of my brothers and sisters mates.
If they said "I want to meet some of your mates" that would have been fine, but they have to manipulate things in that way.

I guess its out of respect for privacy, and fear that they attempt to bring me down, by letting everyone know all about Me.

I wish I could say it was all unfounded and without basis.

Maybe in part explains why anyone who is friends with/slept with my brother/sister, I dont want to know.

Generally ok on their own.

8th is Virgo ruled. Mercury is conjunct Pluto and opposes Moon. 12th is Capricorn ruled. Saturn squares Neptune and conjunct a few planets. 3rd is Aries ruled. Mars squares Venus.

Paranoia definitely isn't fun.

Sometimes I feel the same way Dervish. When people are really nice, I feel like they have some hidden motive. The worst part about people with ulterior motives is sometimes you can't tell till the very last minute... But having some 8th house Pluto vibes at least helps with catching on sooner even though it may seem paranoid at the time. :0

Oh yeah, hate it when people are really nice, gets on my wick! Get what you mean about that.

I dont like it when people who can help, do not help. Makes me wonder why they dont help when they can. When it is really needed. Especially someone close.

Ulterior motives is a constant theme through my life unfortunately.

Someone having my child when I dont want one.
Thats probably the main worry, and also fits with 8th house being paranoia. My chart anyway. A few options.

8th Virgo ruled, Mercury opposes 6th ruler Moon.
Gemini on 5th.

I have another paranoia, its called worrying about if someone calls you less, then that must mean they like you less. Things are not that black and white with people, and I keep trying to tell myself that, but it doesn't help having Leo Sun/Mercury in the 8th and squared by Pluto in the 11th!

pluto conj asc here

anything I focus my mind on can become out of proportion...esp the body (1st house). I used to have panic attacks and phobias, basically paranoid my body would kill me.

Only by refocusing and distracting my thoughts do I over come paranoia, fears, all the crazy sh..."stuff"

I think of paranoia as being about excessive suspicion, extreme trust issues

I think that it's a Scorpio thing....as well as Pluto and the plutinos

I had issues with paranoia for a long time because I kept my special education past a secret. I was in the closet. I had major trust issues, and I was suspicious of people that were nice to me...especially in my childhood years. Once I realized the truth about myself, I was no longer ashamed of my special education past and I became open about it. I have no problems with paranoia now.

My mother told me that my father had those problems with paranoia, and he was very similar to me in personality and neurology.

in my chart:

Sun in Scorpio in 2nd/3rd

Mercury conjunct Venus in Scorpio in 3rd

3rd house ruler Pluto in Libra in 1st

Sun conjunct plutino,Ixion
Sun contraparallel plutino,Orcus

some people mistake social anxiety for paranoia

social anxiety disorder tends to get misdiagnosed as paranoid schizophrenia.

I like to read up on psychiatry. I even have my own copy of DSM-IV-TR.

here is stuff on Paranoid Personality Disorder:
http://www.health.am/psy/more/paranoid_personality_disorder_pro/

the symptoms and traits of personality disorders have significant overlap too

Raymond

“It is absolutely the perfect name,” Dr. Brown said, given the continuing discord among astronomers and the public over whether Pluto should have retained its planetary status.

In mythology, Eris ignited discord that led to the Trojan War.

“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.”
