My sun is in Virgo in the tropical system but it was physically in the constellation of Leo. Why do people still use the Tropical system if it isn't even right? Just wondering.. I'm confused. How does it work? IP: Logged |

Tropical is accurate, I think. Go outside and look up when the tropical natal shows a full or new moon, in your home area, and it will be there when you look.IP: Logged |

Great question! I know very little about this...I think Glaucus is knowledgable about the differences. Hopefully he will weigh in.IP: Logged |

I don't id with my sidereal chart at all. I know people who swear by it though. It all depends on what you're comfortable with. IP: Logged |

Both of the systems make sense to me.. The sun is in Virgo in the Tropical system, and in Leo in the sidereal, but in the Tropical both Mercury and Mars are in Leo and my ASC is Virgo. It balances out the same in both systems.. lolStill confused. IP: Logged |

Tropical Zodiac is a zodiac based on the northern hemisphere seasons. It consists of 12 zodiac signs that are equal in size. The Sun in beginning of the cardinal signs are the equinoxes and solstices which are the beginning of the seasons. Sun in 00'00 Aries = Vernal Equinox = Beginning of Spring Sun in 00'00 Cancer = Summer Solstice = Beginning of Summer Sun in 00'00 Libra = Autumnal Equinox = Beginning of Fall Sun in 00'00 Capricorn = Winter Solstice = Beginning of Winter My Sun is in Scorpio in the tropical zodiac. Sidereal Zodiac is a zodiac based on the background stars. It consists of 12 zodiac signs that are equal in size. My Sun is in Libra in the sidereal zodiac.
The Sidereal Zodiac and Tropical Zodiac used to be aligned with each other, but over the years, the zodiacs diverged. That is called "precession" The difference of longitude betweeen the between the Sidereal Zodiac and the Tropical Zodiac is called ayamansa. The Constellation zodiac consists of constellations on the ecliptic. It consists of 13 constellations of unequal size. My Sun is in Virgo in the constellation. I was born on October 29th,and so I was born on the 2nd to the last day that Sun was in Virgo. As you see, the Sidereal Zodiac is not the same as the constellation zodiac.
I use the Tropical Zodiac, but I will not use it with people that are born in the Southern Hemisphere. I believe that a constellation would work better for those types. I think a combination of tropical zodiac and constellation zodiac could work as a blend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidereal_zodiac Raymond

I like the tropical better than the sidereal, that's for sure--and the draconic better than the tropical.IP: Logged |

GotGemini,It seems like you're what astronomers would say a true Gemini. Your Sun-Mercury conjunction is in Gemini in Tropical Zodiac, Sidereal Zodiac, and constellation. Your Venus is in Cancer in tropical zodiac, sidereal zodiac, and constellation. Very cool! Raymond

Perspective.Out there in the universe the Sun is a star, always on, shinning. Here on earth it's a different story; the Sun is "on" for half a day, and "off" the other half. It is this rhythm we follow, plan our days & lives, the perspective from earth. That's why we use the Tropical system. IP: Logged |

Ahhh, well, I guess I'm a Virgo and there's no escaping it.. lolNot that Virgo isn't a good sign, it just explains me to a T and I like to deny it since Virgo is known to be a party pooper and enjoys being alone. That is me for sure, but i love people so i don't like people to know about my anti social leaning. x.x I guess my rising sign being Libra makes me more social than the average Virgo. Leo is one of my favorite signs so i like to pretend that my sun sign is Leo since my birthday is on August 23rd and the sun had only been in Virgo for about five hours before I was born. Silly i know. Also, Linda Goodman stated that Virgos rarely become artists... and my whole life is art. Art is my passion. I'm also very disorganized and whimsical. I suppose Virgos can be very disorganized as well, but it's usually a sign of discontent. Glaucus, thanks for posting that info. IP: Logged |

neptuneIllusion,Your Sun is in the constellation of Leo,and that is relevant. I think that your Sun is conjunct Regulus, alpha star of Leo. One of the royal stars of Persia. It would be no wonder that you could strongly relate to Leo.
I wouldn't discount the constellation influence. I have planets in tropical zodiac that are in alignment with stars in the constellation of the sign before the tropical zodiac. My tropical Scorpio Mercury is in the constellation of Libra, in alignment with Zuben Eschamali, Beta star of Libra. My tropical Pisces Moon is in the constellation of Aquarius, in alignment with Sadalmelik, Alpha star of Aquarius. Raymond

I'm not sure how fixed stars work...are all Leo Suns widely conjunct Regulus? My Sun's between 21 and 22 Leo, widely conjunct Regulus...IP: Logged |

Astrologers tend to give 1 degree orb for fixed stars. some even up to 2 degrees for the bright stars and royal stars....especially if conjunct luminary or angle. ------------------ “It is absolutely the perfect name,” Dr. Brown said, given the continuing discord among astronomers and the public over whether Pluto should have retained its planetary status.
