Ophiuchus has a pretty cool mythological archetypal symbolism in Asclepius, the Greek God of Medicine. That's what Ophiuchus is supposed to be. Therefore, Ophiuchus has to do with healing potential.------------------ “It is absolutely the perfect name,” Dr. Brown said, given the continuing discord among astronomers and the public over whether Pluto should have retained its planetary status. In mythology, Eris ignited discord that led to the Trojan War. “She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.” http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/15/science/space/15xena.html?_r=1 IP: Logged |

i would have to argue with the assumption that astrology comes from a more primitive time. people built things like the pyramids in those days that are still mind-boggling to engineers today...? and the mayans' math capabilities were stupendous, as were their powers of observation and deduction.and the symmetry is seriously awry. sounds like an interesting mythology though! thanks for bringing it up! have you done any research to see if it holds up? Nope...I was just talking about the mythological theme of the constellation.Bernadette Brady who uses the star paran system finds mythology behind the stars, constellations help understand the influence of the stars, constellations. Astrology may have a long history but as science reveals what has been there all along, shouldn't it be studied and incorporated into current astrology? Pluto is a fairly recent discovery and though some people question whether it should be considered a planet or not, it's use is widespread. Instead, it seems like it's been swept under the rug to maintain astrology's current system and keep certain profitable relationships steady. We change our beliefs when science reveals new ideas about the treatment of diseases or new surgical techniques, but when a new sun sign is discovered why the hesitation to change the books?IP: Logged |
