I'd say that Eros aspects make just being friends REALLY hard, because it makes the relationship have such an erotic undertone!

Sexual aspects like Venus/pluto or Venus/mars or moon/mars. Angular conjunctions too. Also mars/Neptune or Eros/personal planet or angle. Lust probably factors in too.

Trines are more harmonious, and might not be enough to incite any big enough desire to make things hard. Oppositions has the "opposites attracts" feel, while squares would be the kind of uncomfortable attraction. Conjunctions would be the strongest.

Mars/Venus/Pluto/Eros links would be the strongest links I guess. Note that I'm only focusing on the pure physical attraction, so I didn't include other attraction aspects.
(AC oppositions is of course a strong attraction aspect, but this aspect is more like an ideal partner aspect, not exactly sexual)

I think that it's easier to be friends with strong emotional connections, but not so easy when there are strong sexual connections.
On the other hand, only strong sexual connections might point to strong physical attraction.. without the intentions of deep emotional connection.

Also, Neptune might help adding confusions about feelings/attractions, so it might make it difficult to be clear about "friendship only" (mainly squared to Moon or Venus - squared to Mars can imply that one is confused about the other's action).
