Hi folks. Do you think the composite North Node can be worked with in a relationship the way that we work with the NN in our natal? That is, as something to live out to help us learn, grow, and fulfill our soul's purpose?IP: Logged |

Hey Lucia, What aspect were you looking at? In my experience, if theres a strong NN (like conjunct an angle or planet) in a composite it definitely points to a certain amount of growth within the relationship itself, but also the fact that the relationship itself will grow and continue to be "of use" to the people involved. But in my experience this seems to be unavoidable rather than consciously dealt with, which goes along with the notion that composites are like trends of the relationship. I have a Moon conjunct NN with three very dear friends of mine in each of our composites and we're always talking about our emotional growth. Its become a theme that I think is appreciated mutually because the relationship doesn't feel like it might outlive its significance at any point in the future. There is a strong sense that we're helping each other clarify emotional issues and emotional maturation throughout the course of the relationship. Also, the Moon/NN conjunctions are either in the sign of our own natal NN's or in out of sign conjunction, which is probably another reason those relationships are so emotionally rewarding and we all look up to one another as important guides in each other's lives (and why I guess we're all on the same page about WHERE in our lives this emotional growth is taking place and needed). Another example is my parents, who have NN conjunct Pluto in their composite and a huge theme throughout their relationship has been helping one another establish personal power each of their lives and dealing with manipulative, power hungry people. If anything, I'd say that's been the most significant thing they've done for each other's lives and I feel like its kept them together despite their issues relating. Oppositions seem to work backwards in terms of growth. I know I have composite NN opp. Moon with my father and I often feel like my relationship with brings out an extreme emotional immaturity in me. We have other aspects that support that but generally my father and I don't really communicate or help each other on that level. Obviously that's not really a relationship I can let go, but I did have a short lived relationship with someone and we shared an NN opp. Venus in our composite. The attraction was strong and familiar there and I can't speak for him but I certainly felt pretty quickly that the romantic relationship was bound to outlive itself because it was kind of lazy and stagnant, if not regressive. I don't know if squares or trines would be as strongly felt...but I've DEFINITELY felt the conjunctions and oppositions. IP: Logged |

I mean even an unaspected NN. (Of course I think it goes without saying that nodal conjunctions within the composite are significant.) BUT...For instance, let's say that in a natal, someone has NN in the 12th house in Pisces. To pursue their soul mission and realize their true potential, they would move away from 6th house/Virgo approaches and activities and towards 12th house/Pisces approaches and activities. Now let's say a composite has that same NN placement. Could the couple improve their relationship and better realize the full potential of their partnership by acting out/moving toward their composite North Node? IP: Logged |

ooooooooh, ok, oops sorry for irrelevant spiel then I don't see why what you're proposing wouldn't hold true though. And since you'd experience the composite aspects to that NN very personally you probably stand a better chance of contributing in a fundamental way to the growth of the relationship. IP: Logged |

Lucia23, this is a interesting topic. X3 Hmm I guess that if the NN of the composite represents the lessons of the relationship, then it might be able to point out the direction in which we/the relationship can walk to, in order to improve the relationship? Although I wonder if this is more about for the improvement of the relationship than the improvement of each individual of the relationship, coz if the relationship is gone, then the composite NN is "gone" too (sorry, I don't know how to explain this well >_< ). But on the other hand, relationships do influence us and has lessons for us to learn, so that in some way, it does end up influencing us too. Maybe we can compare the composite NN and other things as well to each individual's natal chart, to see how it influences each of them?IP: Logged |

Okay, a little "task" or "test" on this topic. ;-) How would you interpret the following NN-position in a Composite? Could you tell the charactre/story of that relationship, in a few sketches?orbs: 0-3 dg. Composite NN in Aries - cj. DSC in 7th - sextile Moon in 4th (exact) - trine Jupiter in 10th - quincunx Uranus in 12 th - quincunx Pluto in 12 th - quincunx Neptune in 2nd Ruler of NN-sign "Aries" is Mars - Mars in Virgo in 11th house - Mars conjunct Venus (exactly) ******************************************************************* The Composite's NN compared to the individual charts: Composite-NN & MAN - cj. his Moon (in his 8th) - sextile his Jupiter (in his 10th) - sextile his Vesta (in his 10th) - sextile his Sun-Moon-Mp (in his 10th) - trine his Sun (in his 12th) - trine his Mercury (in his 12th) - trine his Hera (in his 3rd) Composite-NN & WOMAN - cj. her Amor (in her 5th) - cj. her P.o. Destiny (in her 5th) - trine her Moon (in her 1st) - trine her B.M. Lilith (in her 9th) - square her Sun (in her 8th) IP: Logged |

My Cap friend as Aquarius NN in the 6th house and Leo SN in the 12th house.I have Cap NN in the 1st house and SN Cancer in the 7th house. In our composite we have Aquarius NN in the 3rd house and Leo SN in the 9th house. Even though both Capricorn and Aquarius is Ruled by Uranus and Saturn. I believe my Cap friend would reach the full potential of the friendship moreso with his Aquarius NN in what is also a Mercurian house (6th house Virgo), before I would ever notice there was any potential to begin with. i think it's just as relevant as natal and is used in a similar way. i think the SN indicates what comes easiest and is the default m.o. of the couple (or in any type of relationship), and the NN is what is scary and also rewarding, in terms of communication and focus as a couple. ours definitely fits this pattern. we tend to relate in a very capricornian way (SN) most of the time. it feels very secure and comfortable but there is sort of a fear of mutual vulnerability, and when we go there (cancer NN) it is blissfully sweet and warm and nurturing and it just feels right, to be expressing that way together. it's fulfilling.i'm a big nodal proponent and think they are the most important place in a chart. i feel it applies just as strongly within a composite, and serves the same basic purpose. aspects give it more dimension but aren't necessary for it to be significant, in my opinion, just as in natal. steven forrest has a book on composites (is it skymates 2?) where he makes the differentiation between a composite node and that of an individual...it's a difference of emphasis more than anything, but not huge.interesting book all round... IP: Logged |
