Some people use both, others use just the natal chart. I use just the natal chart based on beliefs I have which are rooted in psychology studies.

In the end, it's your own choice. If you feel that a progressed chart can teach you something about yourself, then by all means, learn to interpret a progressed chart.

@Sanchenuss - for every year you have lived, your progressed chart is "progressed" with a day.

So you're telling me that you're only just born?

The aspects and the houses generally look the same, but the positions of the objects should have changed... with them, depending on the object, the sign they are in as well. Usually the house they are in stays the same unless the objects are fast moving (moon, sun, mercury, ... )

True, but generally they look the same... if you're 30 years of age I can imagine there's going to be more change in your progressed chart, but I remember looking at my progressed chart at 18 and there hardly was any difference in the aspects even. Still hardly any aspects at all

Depends where you're looking. As an example, there are two major lunar events every two weeks (14 days), a full moon & a new moon. In a progressed chart that would be 14 years. A progressed Full/New moon always forcasts something major in a person's life, either leaving home or moving back as basic examples.

I had a progressed New Moon (Sun conjunct Moon) @ 14 years old. And progressed Mars conjunct natal Venus @ 14. At 18, progressed Venus conjunct natal Sun. Currently, progressed Jupiter conjunct progressed Mercury. & progressed Full Moon.

The aspects are there, won't be as bombastic as transits, but they're there.

My progressed chart has Venus trine Mars exact and it's not creating a bit of change lol. You need more than just progressed. Transits help much, apparently

Just read up on -all- of it

Check the solar arcs too. Progressions just don't feel like they do anything for me at all. I only feel 'a change' when they go into critical degrees...29 degrees, and in the 0 degrees. Like when my moon changes. But that's about it.

MVM,

That's what I was thinking

also

You can look at transits to the secondary progressed chart

You can look at transits to solar arc-natal aspects for activations which could indicate a particular event pertaining to the combination.
