just a hypothesis here that seems to be true basd on my personal experience. i'd love to hear how this works for you...

example:
if someones jupiter conjuncts your IC (home, roots, deepest sense of self) the MC (career, reputaion, life's calling/passion) would actually be the conduit for jupiter to function that actually brings expansion or (over)indulgence to the IC.

example: a transit of pluto conjunct the ascendant (appearance, face shown to the outer world, how we start things) would use the descedant (partner/relationship) as the conduit for the transformation bought on by pluto

my current interest mars and moon conjuncts my IC and ever since he has entered my life, i have experienced continual change and success in my career. of course it all coincides with transits...he represents pluto making its final pass over my ascendant (i hope he is permanant as opposed to the other plutonian folk that came through like a tornado and left the wreckage for me to pick up. of course their appearance/disappearance is directly related to plutos position in my first or 12th and whether it was retro or direct)
