Topic: Mars placement and gift giving

Do you think your Mars placement would be a good indicator of the kind of gifts you give?My Mars is in Libra, and I love the wrapping as much as the gift. I usually make my own wrapping paper by painting watercolors on large peices of newsprint. Plus I color coordinate the bows, that I make myself, with the paper.  But, what got me thinking about this was my SO.
One day he was over at my house watching me cook dinner, and I was struggling opening cans with this ancient can opener. He said, "Remember in your last house, you had one of those under the cupboard, built in can openers? What happened to it?" I said, "Uh, I think I left it in the house." He said, "OK, well that's what I am getting you for Christmas, an under the counter can opener. AND, I'm gonna install it, or else you'll have it in the box for ten years." I am thinking to myself that while very sweet, who the heck wants a can opener for Christmas!! On the other hand,, he does give me little gifts of the romantic sort for no reason at all. He has... guess...
Mars in Virgo! What do you think? Would Mars be the leader in gift buying?

My mars in cancer. I give flats to my children. I feel they most have good place to live there life. I protect and give everything to my children and the people who be nearest me.IP: Logged |

I've never related Mars to gift giving but i s'pose there could be a connection there. I tend to either not give someone anything, not even a card, or i give them something that takes their breath away. Always been the pattern. When i do get a present i put effort into the meaning of it and the use etc. ------------------

It's the same all-or-nothing story for me. I give the best, most unique & original gift I can think of OR nothing. Sometimes it seems there's no rhyme or reason to give such a present to a particular person or it's simply the total opposite of what one would expect him to give. I like to shake their regular expression of gratitude a little up I guess..

Mars in LibraMaybe a coincidence but I am all about beautiful wrapping paper, yummm the thick paper, and the fancy bows. And the handmade gift tags, how fun. With gift giving I just keep an ear out all year long for whatever they have a big interest in, or the things they want but would never buy for themselves, then keep a list of all that. Sometimes I just give away art prints/sketches I make, depending on how rushed for time. Is Libra all about shopping? I buy gifts all yr long.

And..My observation is that most people give the gifts they'd like to receive themselves. So obvious and boring.
Gotta think about what the other person likes! There's a Gemini sun and she is always giving me these lil grab bags filled with misc things, and that is her ideal gift cos she loves grab bags, lol, that have a ton of surprises, not me, I'd rather have one great thing than a lot of tchotchkes. I love to give gifts. People have always loved the gifts I pick for them because I pay attention to every single detail about the person, big or tiny. Comments like favorite colors or things they get excited about are noted.. I also feel in my heart whether they'd like it or not.
hmm...I also buy little presents for my cat, Azizi.
When in a relationship I am a big gift giver, leaving sweet surprise gifts for my lover when they least expect it...and nothing like can openers. haha
I was in a relationship with a gear-head, he was obsessed with cars. He was always complaining how expensive the Snap-On tools were and how he wished he could have a set. So that's what I bought him, a 125 piece Snap-On set.
Well I have mars in Virgo...meh. lol

Yes, but see you are observant, ScorpioMSR, which was my point about my SO's placement.True, can openers are not romantic, but he saw me struggling and he wanted to make my life easier, much like tools would do for someone who works with them. He has given me lots of surprises though, he gives gifts for Halloween. Oh, you are both scorpio sun and virgo mars. Hmmm, gonna have to pick your brain..
Ami and Popcorn, am I understanding this? You have gifts in your closet?? Do you just buy things and keep them there for whenever??
Lonake, glad to know a fellow wrapper. My Mom said that getting a present from me was like getting three presents, cause she keeps the wrap and the bow.
But, I don't think Mars Libra is all about shopping, I hate shopping.
Unless it's art supply shopping!

I do the gift box thing, too. Mine's in my bedroom closet. I buy things yrs in advance sometimes, something I know they won't need until later, like for my cousin (whoops not niece) when she graduates high school in 3 yrs.Mars conj Saturn, maybe. Yea, same with the present. Then they sit there saying they don't want to mess it up and unwrap it very very carefully, lol. As if they're gonna frame the wrapping later! I don't think so! Mars in Scorpio.I give gifts to a few people in my life, my family and my few close friends. I like to give gifts that add quality to ones life, like massages, tickets to a food expo or a sexpo, wine/whiskey tasting (excuse to get drunk). I have a thing for getting people jewelry because I like jewelry. I also gift books a lot. I usually gift my time too, like if it is my mom's birthday (libra), she knows that she is lounging all day giving me orders to get her another slice of cheesecake (which I made) and I usually spend the day cooking and serving her friends. My sister (Taurus) it's jewelry, perfume and clothes and booze. lol My cousin (Cancer)it is $$$ paying for her and her friends' debauchery and just being in the background waiting to either help someone puke or pass out; driving them wherever they want to go because I am the designated driver, and just making sure that they get what they want when they want it. I take photos so that they have memories of whatever she is doing, e.g. birthday, graduation, etc. I give the occasional banky of good quality weed. For my friends generally, I gift them with tickets to things like concerts, sports matches, and such. They seem to like concerts. I hate concerts. Of course, I come along and make it into a memory where we go out and have fun. For xmas and such, I ask them what they want and I get them what they asked for. So, I offer services for gifts and I think this is reflected by my Virgo Sun and Venus. Maybe it is because I'm cheap. IP: Logged |

That is very sweet Ami. I like to imagine what a gift closet looks like, as mine are not even big enough to hold my clothes!
