OK
How about lets talk about Ruler of the 1st in the 7th and Ruler of the 7th in the 1st.

Lets talk about each alone and then how they are different.
Please, don;t add confusing things like planets

Rules?
I don`t do rules.

Okay, okay, no planets...really, not?
But they are important, they make a difference!

So anyway in short:

Ruler of 1st in 7th house:
I am instinctively drawn to connect to other people, I feel myself w hen in relationship.

Ruler of 7th in 1st house:
I connect to people who are like me; through the reflection (of partnerships) I get to know myself better. Mirror-effect in relationships.

Ceri
You are too advanced when you add the planets and I have to leave the threads lol
Maybe, when I get this level really solid, I can add the planets.
That is just what I have experienced when you have added the layer of planets on the other thread, it was a level beyond me.
That is just me,where I am ,now, speaking only for myself, here.

You are totally right, doing it step by step.

First understand the rulers in the houses, and then if you have you can add the planet.

For example:
in my chart:
ruler of 7th in 1st house - the ruler is the train and the houseplacement is the destination/ station(?).

So my train with its freight "relationships" is going to the destination "personality/ identity".

If that is clear, I can add the planet. The Planet shows the interieur of the train. What is the athmosphere on board? Waht are the passengers doing? What does the freight look like?

In my case Mercury is the the name of my train "relationships".
The athmosphere is chatty, communicative. People are laughing and joking a lot there, analysiing, talking, chatting.
Since Mercury is in Sagittarius, they usually are talking about philosophical things (or making really weird crude jokes).

But still the main thing is that there is a connection between my relationships and my sense of identity.

That is the last time I mentioned planets in this tread. Promise.

Ruler of 1st in 7th could be dangerous, seeking the self in the other, turning to others to tell them who they are, or finding themselves through direct interaction (how a person reacts to them) instead of through self-reflection, or some other more positive avenue. They also have difficulty going through life without feeling as if someone 'out there' is waiting in the wings to pick every bit of them apart since h7 rules open enemies. As a result there's a strong need to 'get it right' so a lot of time is spent in partnership and when not then the focus is on 'what works and what doesn't' since h7 is a mental house too. Both placements are ripe for projection. 7th in the 1st, a partner is wanted who reflects the self, similar approaches to life is a must. It could also be someone who wants to mold the partner in the image of themselves, a sort of Svengali aspect to it. The partner could be quite self-focused too, the person wants someone who stands out strongly apart from the rest (emphasizing h1 here). On the neg could continually be partnered with self-centered folks.
^ There's really a big gamut here in the interpretation.

I've wanted to put in examples with signs or planets since it is more illustrative but have mentally edited myself to help a lil chica out (!) Hi Ami

reading... think i got it tho! just never saw my houses like that. makes sense now. i'm a ruler of 3rd in 3rd not 1st.

Ruler of the 3rd house in the 3rd house
The activities of the 3rd house serve the agenda of the 3rd house. Communicating and gathering information serves the need to make connections and use our mind. Communicating is an end in itself. We talk just to hear ourselves talk. We talk about the local scene. We talk about our siblings. We want to keep the lines of communication to siblings open. We talk about our daily comings and goings and the people in our daily environment. We like being a source of information in our local community. Gathering information satisfies our curiosity. Making connections keeps our mind busy. We might be overly distracted, gossipy and focused on non-essentials. The way we communicate impacts our everyday relationships. Learning on an everyday basis is an issue- positive or negative. We write about writing. We keep a journal or blog to track our daily thoughts and ideas. We talk incessantly. Hearing and speech are issues. Incessant inner chatter. Trouble turning off the inner monologue.

perhaps minus the siblings and local community.

Intriguing. I pulled up a friend's chart in an attempt to have a specific example to follow while I read this. Turns out this thread applies perfectly.

His Ascendant is Capricorn & his Descendant is Cancer. His Saturn is in the 7th House & his Moon is in the 1st House.

I hope more people respond with their interpretations because I am in love with this boy & he is difficult to figure out & understand. I thought perhaps he was so mysterious & hard to penetrate because of his Sun/Pluto opposition, but I knew there had to be several things working in his chart to make him so self-protective & shut off.

I do have a nice ability to verbalize his emotions for him, and that makes me feel good. He tells me I say precisely what he feels but has trouble articulating. We both have Moon in Pisces, though 9 degrees apart; I think it's my Mercury more closely conjunct his Moon that does the trick.

I wish I had more to contribute. It's nice to read the educated thoughts of other people...I appreciate it a lot.

Ruler of the First House in the First House

You want to create a distinct first impression on other people and the image you project is very important to you. There may be a strong resemblance to one of your grandparents.

Ruler of the Second House in the Third House

You feel deeply about communicating in general; especially in regards to your personal value system.
You may increase your money supply through some form of communication, a teaching situation, or even through your siblings or near relatives in some way, perhaps by working with them. Additionally, family relationships are something you feel deeply about and place a high value on. Money and transportation are linked in your chart. An example would be-you could make money selling cars, bicycles, motorcycles, etc.

Ruler of the Third House in the Third House

You have a strong desire to communicate your ideas, whether verbally or in written form and you may also be quite a talker. Something about your early childhood had a profound bearing your thinking and learning processes. This can also indicate that siblings, relatives and others in your immediate environment can play a very important role in your life. You'll get a lot of personal satisfaction from becoming involved with neighborhood and community projects because it's not in your best interest to seclude yourself away from social activities.

Ruler of the Fourth House in the First House

Your mother or your upbringing influenced your outlook on life or perhaps you learned at an early age that much of your emotional security foundation is built on yourself. Your home and private life are a strong part of your identity.

Ruler of the Fifth House in the Third House

You enjoy anything related to transportation cars, planes, etc. Your children are often on your mind and they might even influence your ideas. Children in general are willing to listen to you. You may enjoy the teaching field.

Ruler of the Sixth House in the First House

The work you do affects your outlook on life and your vitality in general. You could be highly sensitive to weather changes so that they actually influence your mood and your motivation. You tend to worry too much about the impression you make on others.

Ruler of the Seventh House in the Seventh House

Ruler of the Eighth House in the Sixth House

You need to have some control over the work you do, or perhaps even your coworkers. and employees.

Ruler of the Ninth House in the Sixth House

Long distance travel, teaching, publishing, law or sports related fields can have a connection with the work you do.
Your philosophies on life or your spiritual beliefs must have practical application in order to appeal to you. You believe in the work ethic or perhaps in helping others in some way. You can use your higher mind to influence the state of your health. Here is an indication that positive thinking can actually boost your well-being.

Ruler of the Tenth House in the Tenth House

You have a strong sense of duty towards your career and/or your public reputation. You will probably rise to a position of authority within your career and you could have a strong desire to be your own boss. An authority figure, perhaps even your father, influenced your career or your attitude towards it.

Ruler of the Eleventh House in the Sixth House

Your friends could be mostly your co-workers. Your friends may even be your employees.
You can create wide-scale social change through the work you do. You bring unusual approaches and ideas to the workplace.

Ruler of the Twelfth House in the Seventh House

You could have a past life connection to your spouse, best friends, or close partners in general. You can feel a certain predestined obligation towards these relationships. You may experience confusion and doubt about a spouse or a very close partner. If this is the case, you may have to forgive this person in order to elevate yourself. Giving too much of your power away to other people can eventually work against you. Be your own best friend first.

i have that, and to add to it it's in opposition to each other.

i do use others as the mirror to see myself, which is a habit i want to get rid of.

i don't really know what the ruler of 1st house in the 7th house does, but it seems fitting that i attract like-minded people... but i don't mould others to fit me. i might do the other way around, to a degree.

the fact that they are in opposition gave me a very contradicting feelings about my perception of self and vague boundaries to others. it's getting better as i get older.

i used to, but not as badly nowadays. i used to have a very vague boundaries with people, like with family and friends. the epitome is i guess with my Borderline mother, to whom i had become merged together with. i suffered from not having my own personality, or that i had a difficult time developing it once i passed my childhood.

That's fascinating actually, the merging re:h1/h7, from a research standpoint.
I've looked at charts that have both rulers in the opposing house, and heard stories and there is a ping pong effect going on. It seems so easy to go back into what feels comfortable and doing so brings back old patterns that have the native caught up in the 'same old game' being driven back and forth, do you find this sort of ping pong effect or no? And also, matters of cementing your personality, I find that fascinating too. Do you feel you go overboard now in h7 or h1 matters as a reaction to the past, or involved in pursuits related to those houses more than the avg person? I know I'm talking in generalities but Ami doesn't want planets/signs in play (I'm ah good girl, I am )
