I thought this was pretty funny: http://siderealist.com/Hating%20Mercury%20In%20Aries.html

My dad has this placement, and i can relate to what this person is saying! I do walk away mid-sentence when he speaks. Now i don't think this is about every merc in aries because i know some who i think are cool. But I thought it matched how i feel about my dads merc in aries ugh. lol
But yes, any suggestions on how to get along with merc in aries? I have mercury in capricorn.
Crap I messed up the title of this! Also I know it says sidreal, but i still thought it was fine to use.

The one I was with says, "So what's your point??" to anyone who is long-winded. LOL

Strong aspects to Mercury will alter it, of course...

Ahaha you don't need Mercury in Aries for that, trust me! I'm an Aries sun and people started mocking me because I asked that every time I had a conversation with someone.

It's true though, tell them directly the point of your conversation, or they'll get bored, trying to figure it out.

Aries is just... ugh do not want! It's the one sign that I really just don't mesh with at all. I'll get into wars with someone with mercury in aries. When poked wrong by their verbal barrage my first reaction is usually to get them to cork it.

I only get into a verbal barrage, when really pushed.

I have Mercury square Saturn, and Merc trine MC. When pushed, and in an argument, be prepared to have me turn things around on you, if you are guilty of whatever it is you're accusing me of. I also don't know how to sit down and be quiet, when accused of anything.

Don't tell me that I *have* to put up with something, and that I have no other choice. Fastest way for me to find a way to make it so that I don't have to put up with it after all - or find a way to make the experience more palatable for me.

My father has Merc/Mars in Aries, and isn't argumentative in the least - but when he was told that it was mandatory that he participate in something that he didn't even get a vote on (it was just going to be put into practice by a board), he wrote them a letter telling them he didn't want it, and wasn't going to pay for it, so they'd better just not even start with him, and give him a waiver instead - and they did! My mother laughed when she saw the letter.

My Mercury is Pisces.. I feel like they are always trying to instigate. They tire me... I kind of move away.

But in RL I don't know *any* who I think are cool. I've only met men with this placement and it squares my Cap Moon. That's my excuse! Too rough for me.. They get on my nerves.

lmao okay so i guess merc in aries causes other people trouble too
i know of some aries who are very calm and not as in yur face but they do little things like yur dad writing that letter. They don't put up with things and are willing to voice their opinions. I admire that.
So straight forward hm. I suppose i do go into long winded explanations and my dad does tell me often get on with it! I think if I'm going to get along with merc in aries Im gonna have to change and accept them rather theem meeting me halfway

yay finally people are talking about my mercury!

—talks all day without stopping (not me iv no air)
—is very loud and/or has an unpleasant voice (nope ima taurus sun merc in aries conj venus in taurus too)
—always interrupts (nah)
—virtually all conversations are about her/him (nah i'm a great listener too and i remember stuff about you too)
—talks just so he/she can hear the sound of his/her voice, while everyone else listening is on the verge of tears (LMAO awww no)
—has an extremely short attention span when it comes to anything but self (nope i can focus really well but i have a lot of fixed signs)
—seeks to overpower and dominate others verbally (here we go this is true for me in real life)
—arrogant and selfish (maybe yes but i have leo taurus in me too)
—terrible people skills (depends. sun and venus in 7th so i don't like to ruffle any feathers.)

my merc is also in the 6th house. ruler mars is in 1st. i think i am abit hard to work for. i realize this though and need to cultivate more patience and tolerance.

mixing systems but this is how i think aries merc functions in my chart..

-knows how to perform and produce

-their leadership style is action oriented, competitive, and goal focused

-is driven and is seen as self-assured and self-possessed

-they have a can do attitude

-emphasis is on efficiency and productivity and they tend to have little patience for the details, but can drill down when they need to

-cutting corners is an option

-Just do it! is their motto

-has a tough time functioning in highly bureaucratic environments

-people who work for them often feel like they exist, in order to help them become successful

that article was hilarious!

sand, my guy's sun/venus are in taurus as well and it seems to modify his behaviour in much the same ways as it does yours. interesting! the article is still peppered with some validitiy, definitely.

what about a basically unaspected mercury, though? well his has two minors i think, and the only major is a sextile to his NN in gemini (both the unaspectedness of it and the gem NN would seem to suggest he has a hard time with communication???). his mercury is in exact sextile with mine and his NN is in exact trine with my sun (and merc by 3) so i think i help him find an outlet; cuz certainly this guy is not a huge talker like this article suggests but he does let his guard down a lot with me and lets it all out periodically, and i think it must be our mercuries in exact sextile but we pretty much banter non-stop, so yeah he does not overwhelm me with his mindstuffs at all. however now i understand why he has trouble with my more verbose emails! (gemini DC here!)

anyway yeah just wondering if anyone has experienced an unaspected mercury in aries type?

Actually - My complaints about Aries Merc are not the ones listed there.

My list would be:

1. They think they are always right and sometimes this is based on no logic whatsoever. I know Aries Mercury has good intuition and sometimes they *do* get it right.. but there are other times when they would really benefit from listening to other people's perspectives.

2. They do not take their time when judging someone's personality. They are very quick to the gun in forming impressions and they tend to attack the person with well-timed questions to figure out if their judgements are correct. Sometimes the initial judgements are not correct at all - but the person feels so intimidated or taken aback.. by their questions and their 'rough' communication style - that they clam up... hence leaving Aries Merc thinking "I was right all along.. this person is shifty - untrustworthy or *insert negative opinion*.
It's like ... "ummmmm actually NO.. They are none of those things. They are just scared of you because instead of talking to them - you barked! Not everyone responds well to "bow wow wow".

3. This will totally sound corny... but... this is the only phrase that comes to mind (and I think it suits my Capricorn Moon square their Merc)... They simply don't *know* how to treat a lady.
Period.
They are rude and they think women like that. Well maybe some do - but not Capricorn Moon ones...

4. They cannot take sexual rejection very well. When the rude comments and instigating behaviour do not get them your attention -- they start to insult you, either to your face or behind your back.
At first it's things like "oh she knows she loves me... she's just bluffing"..
But it turns into "she's a cold hearted s.l.u.t and she doesn't know what's good for her" (because obviously Mr. Aries Merc would be 'what's good for her')

If I complained about him having been a jerk to me.. or tried to explain that the reason I'm not into him anymore is because of his rude behaviour towards me.... His reaction was along the lines of: "HUH? But women LOVE jerks!!! What's wrong with you???? You just don't appreciate me! You should be thanking me for being a jerk to you! Do you know how many girls would WANT me to be a jerk to them?"

LOL my Sag brother is in the habit of asking that -when he thinks you're out of your mind.
LOL I prefer the subtler ways of looking at the person weird.
I think an Aries Merc is a very straightforward and possibly fast-talking person. It their intelligence is above average these people I guess won't be having an easy way to communicate with others.

Simple Answer: Be straight-forward and forthright with your communications. They either instigate conversations or have little tolerance for long-winded, unexpected conversation when they have so many other things that they want to think about. Learn how to summarize well, too.

My reaction to conversations with Aries Mercury are always one of two things:

1) "Where the hell are you going? I'm talking to you."
or
2) "Where they hell did you come from? No, I don't know." then back to #1.

Haha, that's so me! I have good people skills most of the time though, not sure where that came from. At worst I have a foot-in-mouth tendency. One time at work I rang up a lady who bought two 99 cent re-useable plastic bags, and I chuckled and said "Big spender, eh?" I know... I was mortified. Luckily she took it well and laughed with me.

I think Mercury Aries make someone very easy to read, although the Merc Aries individual will deny this.

Please please please please listen to this.

And whoever said all Mercury in Aries talk a lot... no. If it was socially acceptable to not talk, I'd be thrilled. I like to keep to myself and am not a big people person outside of work. I bet a lot of girls with Mercury in Aries find they have similar thinking patterns of men.

My friend, the Taurus:

—talks all day without stopping (yes!)
—is very loud and/or has an unpleasant voice (yes, I've noticed high pitched, obnoxious voices with most of the female Taurus I know, no idea why since it's supposed to bring nice voices)
—always interrupts (sometimes; I'm an Aries so it's hard to do so )
—virtually all conversations are about her/him (we take turns, but yeah)
—talks just so he/she can hear the sound of his/her voice, while everyone else listening is on the verge of tears (nope)
—has an extremely short attention span when it comes to anything but self (nope )
—seeks to overpower and dominate others verbally (no)
—arrogant and selfish (sometimes; Scorpio moon)
—terrible people skills (no, no way. Most people love her)

The ones I know - do not talk a lot! They are actually on the quiet side.

This is the only reason I was with my ex in the first place. When he didn't say a word - he seemed like a good person.

Folks with Leo Mercury think they’re enlightened. You think this is a joke? If any other Mercury placement told you they’re enlightened they’d be kidding. Not Leo Mercury. It would take you a minute or two but you would soon realize that they’re not kidding at all. Poor Leo Mercury, it must be tough to think you’re spitting pearls and all around you is swine.

I'm a Leo Mercury and the saying I'm "enlightened" part about me is true.

Also I have Aries in the 3rd house and I am very blunt and opinionated with my communication. Which is why a lot of people get annoyed at me.
