Topic: Sex: 5th house and 8th house

I'll chime in because I do very much enjoy talking about the 8th house. I always connected the 5th house to self expression. I could somewhat view it in the context of dating and relationships but then again that's the 7th house's domain. Houses 1 - 6 are directly related to our personalities and individuals tendencies shaped by our possessions, communication, family and home environment, self expression, and health habits and work tendencies. Starting from the 7th we begin to look at others. Therefore I can't see dating, sex or relationships in any context outside the 7th house and houses thereafter. I don't relate sex to the 5th house. There's passion and generosity in the fifth because it's ruled by Leo/Sun however that might have more to do with our individual self expressions because we haven't yet reached the point in which we begin to connect with things outside of ourselves. That starts in the 7th. Sex is about connecting, we don't start connecting with others based on the astrological house system until the 7th house. House 1 being ruled by Aries/Mars being our identity what we show to the world. House 7 being ruled Libra/Venus is thus where begin to see outside of ourselves and begin to connect with others through partnerships, marriages, and other forms of relationships. The 7th house is the relationship, the 8th is what comes with it, which can be binding. Sex, money, taxes etc. Sex binds us to another, this is the 8th house's domain. There aren't different kinds of sex, because sex in itself is just an act. However there are different ways to view sex. Someone with planets in the 5th might have a different view of sex then someone with planets in the 8th. But the 8th is the domain for all things related to the sexual act itself. Not romance, or dating, or fun and spontaneity, that's left to the other houses. The act is the 8th house, how we view it and choose to express it is based on individual chart planet signs and placements. All the houses, planets and signs in a sense can influence the way we view and experience sex, but the 8th house, Scorpio, Pluto (and possibly Mars and Venus depending on your opinion) represent the domain of sexuality. I've personally got a loaded 8th house and an empty 5th house. I'm incredibly intense about anything related to sexual matters. I view the act as just an act, however I don't take it lightly. It's an expression of primal energy, life force, it's potent energy and I consider the sexual act transformational because of the intensity I feel surrounding it. IP: Logged |

It's tough to say what makes some one expand(jupiter) in terms of casual sex(fifth house) at an unhealthy or immature rate....no judgement here I strictly stick to the morality issue of health...beacuse sleeping casually can lead to big problems for the individuals...I'm not making normative statements about oughts based on culture, religion, or spirituality....so please understand this....
I would imagine that pluto in scorpio....(intense extreme sexuality) in the fifth house (casual encounters) witha square to jupiter in any sign that doesn't involve constriction...such as capricorn...so say that it's square jupiter in aquarius conjunct midheavan...or jupiter in gemini...conjunct ascendant..or something like that...then the expnasion or jupiter in taurus, especially...then the expansion of jupiter is at odds with pluto creating complexes which may lead to promiscuousness...likewise...jupiter ina constricting sign may lead to complexes which cause mental disorders such as severe sexual repressing leading to self annihilation in terms of suicide, fear, paranoia..etc...it goes both ways...I think it's all about balance...but I see jupiter as a culprit when it comes to expansion.....but if the lesson is learned it becomes a strength...likewise the trine may also lead to complacency - ease of getting laid, causing one to stay on a track which leads to getting heps or hiv...or even have a child at a young age...etc....so the free will aspect must be considered too..

Natively, although I agree to a degree..I cordially disagree too...the fifth house is fun.....and the eight house is accountability..what sex,death, and transformation all have in common is accountability...this unconscious accountability of an eight house sun is demonstrated by the very gravity of how you discuss the sexual act... the fifth house is just fun...expression, if fun, is the fifth house...if expression is considered hard work and service - gemini in the sixth house is an example of this, then it fall into that house...the houses can be transformed by free will...If I view the wall as partner...I am transmitting the energy of the seventh house on to it consciously...this is what I believe astrology is a self empowerment tool...a dimension to be utilized wisely....
The fifth house though is fun for sure...and the eight house has always been accountability...that is why people with juptier their may stand to inherit money, because the project unconsciously an honesty which may even have to be unlearned...especially in cases of survival....eight house is the personal unconscious...and the 12th is the collective....but the personal and the collective interact...so they are doorways to each other if one uses the other houses to learn consciously about themselves...
but like I said...in general, and I've been taught to simplify things in astrology or else you'll get lost in a fractal type network in which everything and anything is both true and false....the fifth house = fun and the eight house = accountability, so if you are having sacred fun - that is fifth + eight at work and every act is inseparable from each..but if you are having casual reckless sex for fun....it may only fall into the fifth, maybe 12thm and third...the eight house is always sacredness though...there is the shadow of accountability too...which is the trickster, the deceiver...etc...or the Scorpio...Scorpio can be a scorpion, eagle, or phoenix...and each one has a shadow and light side...... I would also like to say that in every act all 12 signs and houses exist...but it is in a certain weight that certain houses and signs/planets are emphasized which determines the character of the action...similar to the character of the person....So realize too that in all situations with any placements a person can do or be anything they wish to be granted the environment and genetics also allow for this full field of expression. This weighing of houses and signs is subjective and objective. The person may see himself as a hero, heroine, and the society may make him into a villain. IP: Logged |

chiron nice way to describe the 5th and 8th working together in a chart or synastry: sacred fun.I have a friend whose vertex conjuncts my karma/venus/mars. In turn my venus and mars conjuncts his 8th cusp. In addition his moon and mars conjuncts my 5th cusp. All these conjunctions are either exact, by one orb or by two orbs. I'm in no way claiming the fifth house isn't about fun or anything else related specifically to the 5th house. I was just providing an alternative in perspective towards assessing sex in relation to the 8th house. My views on the expressions of the 8th and 5th are solely based on personal experience. @BP, I actually take sex very seriously but I'm not blind to the fact that it is just an act. What's most important to me is the intense connection your able to share with another through expressing your sexuality. Sex has meaning because we give it meaning, like everything else in existence. i have nothing in both 5th and 8th cept lilith in pisces in the 5th and juno, nn, and chiron in 8th. no planets. ima 7th houser. pisces isn't a very sexual sign right? well i know it depends on the chart too but in general.. ..and gemini is very light at least compared to what rules the 8th- scorpio. I agree with this and live by it:At the positive end of the spectrum, we can actually heal others (or be healed by them) via sexual interaction. In your case, if you had sex with someone who had a lower vibration than yours, with the right approach you may raise that person to YOUR vibrational level.

I personally don't have chiron in the 8th but my 8th house ruler is the moon and my moon has a quintile to chiron of 0 orb. Hence, I do feel that sex can be used to raise your vibrational level and your partner's vibrational level but you do have to pick partners by instinct and be very selective and approach the experience with all your soul. FANTASTIC! There is also a video on youtube as well that talks about 'sexual energy' and how sexual energy can be projected and transmitted onto another person. It is all very fascinating, but I think ones receptive ability (and more specifically awareness) has a lot to do with being able to recognize these things.
