I can understand the frustrations. I'm somewhat similar to how you describe yourself since I have a Fire ASC but, a lot of water and Saturn-ASC. And part of me wants the boldness and attention and another part of me scolds myself for it.

I'd love to see your natal chart to provide you more insights about why you, despite being a Leo, feel much more introspective than other Leos. I'm going to guess ahead of time that you're going to have some Saturn, Neptune and Capricorn influences going on somewhere, specifically in the first but maybe third house also.

No its not, its more common than you would think. I'm a Leo Sun with show boat Sag ASC, but I'm definitely quiet when I feel uncomfortable and in unfamiliar situations. What house is your Leo Sun in? I have it in the 8th, it gives my Leo sun this dampening effect. Also I have Pisces Moon which makes me less selfish and more prone to give others attention then to seek it myself.

Yes, Leos can be shy or reserved, especially since many of us have personal planets in Virgo and often times Cancer.

I am sometimes, particularly when meeting new people. Like I definitely can be extroverted but I can turn it on and off, depending on the situation or my mood. Leos with a Water Moon or Ascendant tend to be like this, especially. I'm the most talkative and animated with good friends, but I still have my moments of silence and reflection.

But every Leo (whether obviously extrovert or not) possesses an intense, glorious fire within them. You just have to find the right outlet for it. Leos, more than any other sign I feel, NEED outlets for all that energy. I've found it in being an actor (I know, I'm an astrological cliche, ). But it really is the perfect outlet for my dramatic, creative, expressive Lion energy to manifest.

I've also noticed that Leos that tend to be introverted are highly introspective. The famous self-absorption turns inward and becomes almost spiritual, constantly observing, defining, and directing oneself. Leos who are louder and less subtle and sensitive tend to be the total opposite: burning through life with very little self-awareness.

Yes exactly! And another outlet for Leo's is art! I paint and draw and will soon be a practicing drummer again. I may even start a band once I feel confident enough.

There are alot of introverted Leo's.. You are not alone..
I have 4 planets in Leo and Im super introverted.. I wouldnt say Im shy though.. Its not shy for me, I just prefer to be away from people... I dont do well in large groups especially strangers.

BTW.. You can do a chart on Astro. Just use 1200 noon as the time.. You can still see aspects..
Try researching Asc descriptions, see if any of these fit...

Check Pisces,Cancer,Virgo Asc.. See if any of these fit you.

Im a Pisces Asc.. My Leo is in H6 (the natural virgo house) which explains me being introverted. Along with Saturn aspects to my Leo Stellium.

My bet is your Leo is in the lower part of the chart. Or in H12

Shyness can be common in Leos for a couple of reasons.

First, Leo's commonly have a genius about them that can make relating with people difficult. Social Leos tend to have the capacity to lend some of that genius toward social politics, but occasionally that doesn't happen. If shy Leos are engaged with the topics they are interested in, they can become ALL KINDS of social.

Second, Fire signs are often inclined toward a "dominate or submit" perspective of life. Leos especially can fall into Lion/Lioness rolls. The Lion expends a lot of energy exuding a persona. Much of that energy is rewarded by the fielty of those in contact with the lion. The lion rules by having a big mane and a yawning mouth filled with big teeth. The lioness reserves her energy for hunting and protecting her family. She doesn't use her claws and teeth to demand respect, she uses them to kill. She has no mane to slow her down or make her stand out, in fact it is better for her plans that others not notice her until it's too late.

When the Leos I have known are faced with a new person or situation, they quickly decide which lion is best for them to be in that situation.... That is, until you start scratching them under their chin, then they just become a kitten. >^.^<

Wow! this makes a lot of sense!
highly introspective / observant.. ---> spiritual, wow to this as well! sounds exactly like me.. super sensitive..

i believe i've had/let ppl take advantage of me because of this without me knowing it till my energy eventually gets drained . . (too nice, too giving, too accepting + what i have/love to offer spiritually...) how can one avoid getting into these obstructions ??

thank you so so much everyone who replied!!! it is helping me a lot. thank you <3

Here is my natal chart with the time as 12noon

I'm a shy leo.. shy pussycat that is I think it's because i have a lot of virgo and capricorn in my chart which makes me not want to seek attention as much. I think leo's are shy when they are insecure and when they feel better about themselves they like to be in the limelight and get attention... its always the case... also the shyness doesn't last..i open up fast.

Well after just going through a lot of stress with a Leo sun/Aries Asc/Gemini moon man, wouldn't you know that I have a new friend and guess what... he is Leo sun/Leo Asc/Gemini moon. However, while the first Leo was not shy by any means, the second one does seem to be shy and also doesn't talk much, especially considering his Gemini moon! I took a look at his chart and he has his sun in the 12th house and he also has a Sun/Saturn aspect which indicates shyness. He really didn't talk much for the first several days I spent around him but he's started to be much more playful now with me. I still haven't noticed him talking to anyone else. So yes, shy Leos do exist!

I'm a leo & i'm shy too. I am extroverted AND shy. I go back & forth between the extremes & I am just now finding a balance. I think it's because I was born on the leo/virgo cusp & virgos are much more introverted. It isn't called the cusp of exposure for no reason!! :/

Ermagerd!!

Like Vertiver, I'm also a Leo Sun/ Sag rising, with Sun in the 8th house (Moon in Taurus, though).
I can totally relate to the whole shyness thing. Even when I've been with someone for a long time, shyness remains. I kind of thrive on it though. I like it to go both ways in relationships, shy together; on a positive note, it can hold back little surprises for later. But I'm also Venus in Cancer and Mars in Scorpio, so very guarded and secretive in certain ways (esp concerning relationships).

Also, I have quite a bit of Saturn going on, and a lot of insecurities which I will admit contribute HUGELY to shyness. I need to feel a certain sense of security before I show the cards I've been dealt to someone I deeply care about.

Unless they scratch me under my chin, that is; I love how some people are so keen to that because it really is such an easy way to please most of us Leos.
