I like Quentin Tarantino too. Favorite might be Wes Anderson (Royal Tennanbaums, Life Aquatic of Steve Zissou, Bottle Rocket)
Taurus sun, scorpio moon (conjunct my moon and pluto), mars in sagittarius (conjunct my mercury, uranus, saturn) and more. Love his movies. So dark yet so funny and moving. And beautifully detailed.

I love Tarantino movies - I have both Kill Bill dvds, I was obsessed with those movies for awhile. I love Pulp Fiction too, and I keep watching Django Unchained over and over LOL.

Really from an astrological perspective, his movies shouldn't even appeal to me because all his chart placements are in signs that aggravate mine; his Aries stuff opposites my Libra stellium; the only thing I have in Taurus is Chiron, but somehow I love his stuff anyway.

I found out about "Chungking Express" and "Fallen Angels" from reading that Tarantino raved about em. I'm glad I did; both damn good movies...strangely enough, Chungking is probably the better movie but I prefer "Fallen Angels". I loved Takeshi Kaneshiro's character in that one, and related to him and his life ALOT. The part after his dad died and we got to see the footage he filmed of them together...reminded me alot of me and my mom, and I love the song that plays during that scene.

The hitman story in the movie was so weird to me that it held my attention though. I know most people think his boss (the girl) is hot, but I find her disturbing and creepy. I love that song that plays during her scenes though - "Forget Him".

Everybody whose seen Fallen Angels will *get* this :

Cuz I'm cooooooool

LOL

Even with all that though...I still have to say my favorite director is probably James Cameron. Simply because, I love the first "Terminator" movie - alot. I love everything about it, and I have a lot of positive memories attached to that movie. It's actually my favorite movie of all-time. He didn't just direct it, he wrote most of it too...the whole thing was very much his vision, so that alone makes him my favorite director.

He also did "The Serpent and the Rainbow", which is also really good, but it seems like most people don't know it exists. I don't give two sh!ts about "The Titanic" and "Avatar", though.

I just checked his chart and turns out he has Sun conjunct Pluto in the same sign as my Sun, and Jupiter four degrees away from my Mars. His Neptune lands directly on my Moon, too.

wes anderson

Haven't seen this guy's work, but - no offense towards you, my problem is with this anderson guy - I'm suspecting I'm not missing much because if that photograph is any indication...he's a rip-off artist. It looks like he watched "The Panic in Needle Park" and "Serpico" (two Pacino movies) and decided to just turn around and copy em.

No offense taken. Here is a different picture, probably less Pacino-esque.

I looked at Tarantino's chart for a bit before it hit me as to why I liked him so much: Our Suns are exactly trine. Down to the minute. It's a little eerie.

His Moon conjunct my ASC. Opposite my Venus. My Moon opposite his Sun and Mercury.

His Venus squares my Mercury/Jupiter/Pluto stellium and trines my Venus.

Our Mars' are both Leo. His squares my ASC and Venus. Mine opposes his Venus.

And his Mercury and Jupiter trine my Mercury/Jupiter/Pluto stellium.

I've gotten into arguments with my film major father about Tarantino, because he said he didn't like Tarantino. I've come to the conclusion that he doesn't care for Tarantino's writing, because DAMN can he direct! He gets some of the most intense, interesting, and creative performances out of his actors. Even if you don't see that intensity in the rest of that actor's work. It's insane.

I also like J.J. Abrams. Cancer Sun, Scorpio Moon. (I wasn't expecting him to be so watery? He struck me as an Air/Earth combo of some sort...)

Though looking at his chart and mine, I'm getting the feeling we should work together professionally. Tons of quintiles, biquintiles, great aspects to my MC, his moon conjunct my Venus, and his Part of Fortune conjunct my MC. Let's just make movies together forever.

(I'm breaking this into separate posts for these - but I'm going to state here what they have in common between them!)
All three of these men are considered among the greatest directors/film makers of all time, all three had excruciatingly busy schedules, and all three are known to have been quite the eccentric! And, they each have produced films that used innovative techniques, double entendre/hidden messages and themes (often social/political), all three were not afraid of the taboo nature and messages found in many (most) of their chosen pieces (as in each was known for pushing the envelope). Also, all three are well known for their love of dark humour, portraying violence/capturing raw human responses emotional and behavioral, and use of obscure/abstract imagery~ (there are many other simiarities of course... *ifilmbuffwillboreyou*)

(note) Since you've already got Tarantino and Zombie there (btw - Wow Strawr !! @_@ - Rob Zombie's almost my astrotwin! HehE ~! really wasn't expecting to see him given credit, but YAY! another RZ fan! <3) ~ they're both huuuuge favourites of mine as well~ but, I didn't include them here, though I certainly would have~

~I picked rather tame images/films to represent some of what I consider their best directing works! (although it was very tempting to put some up from Ichi, Psycho, and The Shining ^^

wahhhh you like The Vengeance Trilogy!!!

anno_lucis = hardcore

it's alright! I watch a lot of 70's martial arts films though, not much *big effects* in them but --- they have that grainy film, and a lot of authenticity to them and the arts that today's martial arts films lack~

except maybe where they have Tarantino or Miike at the helm... they're two of the four directors/producers of such films I can think of who have maintained the old aesthetic and fully honour the fighting techniques-styles-etc/history to it all! haha XD

*slightly distracted and flighty* will come back later! ^__^ I'll post the others~

instance~ do you like John Woo? ^^;
