Astrology deals with metaphysics as does a some types of philosophy, and placements are also thought by many astrologers to contribute to ideological and theological philosophy. For example: http://www.zot.net/pallas_liberty.htm IP: Logged |

The word "philosophy" comes from the Ancient Greek φιλοσοφία (philosophia), which literally means "love of wisdom" I think Astrology and Philosophy go perfectly together. Unless you're talking about aspects in which case I can't help you.

"Philosophy has nothing to do with mysticism." Is Astrology mysticism? How can you come to a conclusion or form an opinion using Astrology to answer a philosophical question? IP: Logged |

Philosophy is thinking, reasoning, and ideas while mysticism is more about feeling and/or direct experience of the divine/occult, so astrology is closer to philosophy than mysticism.IP: Logged |

You should go to the library and get a basic book on philosophy. Some philosophy deals extensively with metaphysics and ideas of the occult/God but I haven't read anything on those in a long while. But those specific schools of philosophy should give you your answer. In any case, I don't think serious philosophy can be compressed into "bumper sticker" form that would be accurate.

Actually, it's not really that related unless you think of astrology as a philosophical system like idealism, rationalism, empiricism, existentialism, or romanticism. Astrologism, maybe? But then again it could be a branch of metaphysics, maybe?IP: Logged |

I think the confusion stems from the fact that 'philosophy' seems to go hand in hand with discussion or debates about viewpoints and opinions. But at the core of both philosophy and astrology is 'universal truth' and in that regard they are in and the same - one is external and one is internal. But we only get to see a glimpse of the landscape. IP: Logged |
