Susan Miller writes that Virgo and Pisces are the two most unmaterialistic, spiritual signs (found on the same 180 axis). http://www.astrologyzone.com/forecasts/monthly/virgo_full.php I kind of agree. What's your take on this? IP: Logged |

I think it depends on the mix of planets. I know a Pisces Sun with Taurus rising and their house is filled with antiques and fine art pieces. They will never part with any of it. IP: Logged |

I also know a Pisces rising that just walked away from everything materialistic and never looked back. Cancer moon prefers peace and security in the home over riches. IP: Logged |

My parents are Scorpio/Scorpio and Gem/Leo and both are chinese OX They ain't parting with sh1t, ever. I on the other hand throw out my wardrobe and everything else once or twice per year and then I start over. I am a Cancer/Cap (11H/5H) Fire Dragon. I AM materialistic in a sense that I like nice things though but it comes with a quality before quantity mentality. I rather not buy anything unless I can afford what I really want.. IP: Logged |

i dont agree. maybe on an idealistic level i agree, pisces might be the most unmaterialstic. i dont agree in anyway about virgo though. having thigns is good, and having useful things is better, so the more the merrier right? i live with my virgo mother who has a basement full of sentimental objects and things we will never use. my grandmother had a whole basement that we had to go through when she passed, she was a gemini on the taurus cusp.

Well I have sun in virgo and moon in pisces and I like nice things occasionally bc of my venus and mars in leo but I really dont need a lot. I am definitely not materialistic. I am a social worker and provider for myself and my husband right now. I go for the guys that need support, compassion and give me all the attention and companionship/friendship I need as opposed to guys with money. I value friendship, a good heart, compassion, fun and extreme loyalty over money evidenced by my choices in life. I have lost a lot materially within the last 6 months that I had worked hard for and I handled it very well.

quote: Originally posted by Faith: I think both Pisces and Virgo suns are materialistic: they express their artistry, style, and resourcefulness through their surroundings. They demonstrate that their awareness is in tune with others' by keeping themselves and their environment as good looking (universally acceptable) as possible. It's not a petty kind of materialism, usually. It's not to make you feel inferior because you don't vaccuum your car as often as they do or replace your air fresheners as vigilantly. They keep things nice so you get into that car and feel like you stepped into a little oasis they created for you. That's my take on it. I think all the signs tend toward materialism, it's just a function of what values they are communicating through those materials. Even Buddhist monks are "materialistic" with their preference for natural surroundings (which can be quite expensive to obtain, nowadays!)
That sounds like taking pride in your environment bc is a reflection of yourself in a way as opposed to been attached to material things and collecting a lot of material things and having a real hard time when losing money or material things or getting married with someone bc they are rich or needing your partner to make a certain amount of money even though you make enough or plenty etc... I guess we have to define what we think is materialistic. IP: Logged |

Ha my s.o is a Pisces sun Cancer Moon Sag asc. They try to act like beach bums even though they loaded. It's like the spend so much money on relaxation rather than luxury. Are you going to ask a Pisces to work hard and struggle because they don't choose wealth? HA good luck.. Now a days even a simple life is overshadowed by taxes and overpriced organic stuff. So yeah they will always pick the bag of cash in order to chill and smoke some bud. speaking of which I know a lot of Pisces dealers... anyways.. But it will be hard to get them into the rat race, they may avoid that claiming they are anti capitalism or some **** like that lol IP: Logged |

That is not a virgo thing. I am a virgo with moon in pisces and my problem is that I get rid of things tooo easily. I hate keeping things I am not using around occupying space or contributing to clutter. I hate it. I want my house to be as empty as possible but still look cute and be practical. You need to look at your mother's moon and rest of the chart bc is not her sun in virgo contributing to this.

Don't know about Virgo, but this axis is activated in my chart, and I do have a problem with materialism or if I have too much stuff, should I get rid of it, am I spending too much etc. So I do have a inner fight between spirtual and the material. I also have a Saturn/Neptune aspect and this can show similar themes. To be honest I care less about money etc. but know that in this world, you have to be a little "materialistic" to survive. It's hard not to be, in a world that only values currency and big business. But I do watch my spending, I'm glad that I don't crave a bunch of stuff, so that helps. IP: Logged |

Idk Im thinking of all the pisces girls I knew in HS... I think their as materialistic as their lifestyle allowed them to be. They were all very pretty and fashionable. If they can afford it they will get but they are pretty chill if they can't you know?I don't they are hunger for wealth at least. IP: Logged |

Of course, it's a generalization as it's about sun signs only. Lots of other factors play a role, as always, but it kind of stood out from the text. It does apply to me personally, though (Virgo Sun). IP: Logged |

Very true, most people with Pisces likes to look nice, but most are not wealth hungry. If they are something else must be going on... IP: Logged |

I'm saggy and we get so tired of "stuff" it's such a weight on us. We just want to be free to take off without a thought at only a moments notice and "stuff" gets in the way of doing that! My ex was a saggy moon and he said if you can't fit it all into a box then you have to much stuff! I agree but being a parent I can't live that way but I always dream of throwing everything away or giving it away n going on a traveling mission!IP: Logged |

I've thought about it and I'd have to say Aquarius.. Aqua is the only sign that stands out to me as 'unmaterialistic'. All the others seem materialistic to a degree.. some more than others.IP: Logged |

I'm Virgo, I don't think Virgos are particularly materialistic in the sense they have to a 100 pairs of shoes for each occasion, for example, but it's like we want to have at least ONE of everything for completion's sake! It's the need to order and organize our lives just in case we need that ONE thing. I'm also more materialistic when it comes to home items rather than clothes or entertainment stuff, I think that's my moon in the 4th house, but everything has to be functional and decluttered/non-fussy (Aqua moon). I like art and striking patterns and colours (Leo venus) and a sort of Chinese Feng Shui balance in how I arrange things (Libra asc)So I'd say Aquarius is fairly unmaterialistic. My sister is Aqua sun and she's constantly going on about not buying "new" and just having recycled second hand stuff. IP: Logged |

I'm not sure if I agree. But I also think that other aspects and placements are more telling than signs when it comes to being materialistic. For some reason I think earth signs are a little more materialistic and I would think a fire/air axis would be less materialistic. IP: Logged |

I'm Leo with Virgo Stellium. Gemini moon Plus... NN Scorpio 2nd house which obviously means SN Taurus 8th. Could be relevant...I don't need a lot of things, but I need "nice" things.... And don't touch my stuff! Got a new comforter set last week... Ahhhhh... IP: Logged |
