This might seem silly, but I'm very curious. Has anyone else here had any confusion over their birth time/Ascendant? Did you ever think that you had one Ascendant only to later find out that that was inaccurate? If so, how has this affected your interpretation of your chart? Has it affected it at all? Some back story: I actually have three birth certificates - a traditional "long form", a traditional "short form", and a hospital copy (I don't think this is too uncommon, though?). Only two of them have birth times (the traditional long and the hospital copy), and they don't match up, unfortunately. For the longest time, I went by the info on the hospital copy, which put my ASC in early Libra. I only began to feel that this was incorrect as I got older and received feedback from my peers regarding being judgmental or critical (which aligned with the time on my long form - late Virgo). Even though I am fairly positive that Virgo is my correct Ascendant, I still sometimes wonder. If it were Libra, my Venus is (/would still be) in the 6th, giving me a bit of a "Virgo" flair, haha ------------------ Sun -> Aries Moon -> Sagittarius Ascendant -> Virgo IP: Logged |

I am not 100 percent confident that the birth time listed on your birth certificate is completely accurate.Even one or 2 minutes could throw the whole thing off and give you a completely different chart. I have 19 degrees Virgo rising with Pluto in the 12th at 4 Virgo----if it was a little different Pluto would be conjunct my Asc----having Pluto conjunct the Asc is way different than just having Virgo rising by itself--other placements would be different too---it's tricky---IP: Logged |

I don't have my birth certificate at all. My chart is based on my mother's memory. And it's not very bright, so there's room for error.Though I am 100% certain that I have a Gemini ASC. It could be a few degrees off, and my IC/MC could be in different signs, but I don't think they are. I'm pretty comfortable with the chart I have now. Maybe my ASC is a couple degrees farther than where it is now, that's a possibility. But either way it hasn't really bothered me much, except for transits at times. IP: Logged |

I empathize.I also am in the same predicament. I don't have a birth certificate that lists the time of birth and my mother's memory is not very reliable. At first she said that I was born "around" 3pm and then she said that it was "around" tea time. Then, on my birthday, some two years back, she sent me a message that said that I was born at "around" 2. So... I've decided to just go with the dominant planet(Jupiter)and read transits according to how they affect my personal planets(Sun, Moon,Mercury, Venus and Mars) You can always do time rectification. But you'll need to be at-least 30 and even then, it is also just speculative. IP: Logged |

I'm kinda in the same boat. I have so hard time determining what Asc I have. My mom said first a time that would give me Aqua Asc but later when I asked about it she gave me a different time. I have 3 Ascendants that are possible me to be.I even posted a pic of myself to Beginners section, you guys can go and guess there if you want. IP: Logged |

In many places they don't record birth times on the BC. My x husband's time is not recorded on his BC. His mother said he was born around 1pm which would give him a Scorpio asc. There is no way on earth he is a Scorpio asc. So I put it back half and hour to 12:30 and that gives him a Libra asc which is much more likely.

Its not silly at all. This has happened to many people and your situation is applicable to many more birth charts than just those who are aware of it with their own. What you are describing is a real issue within astrology that even many astrologers aren't willing to address. I have. It is why I've engaged in so much study and practice of birth chart rectification. Most often the correct rising sign is the one previous to what is suggested by the recorded time. This is one of the things I do professionally because so few astrologers can do it well or want to. Sometimes a chart has few enough possibilities for a legitimate Asc that there is no need for a consult or formal rectification. I can run your data if you want and find out. For nove731 kannonmcafee@gmail.com - subject "Virgo/Libra Asc inquiry" ... If you inquire be sure to include your complete birth data, including the hospital in which you were born. ------------------ Expert rectification, professional astrology consults http://kannonmcafee.wordpress.com/ IP: Logged |

My BC says 10:49pm which would make me a Pisces rising. However, if I had been born only two minutes prior, I would have been an Aquarius rising. IP: Logged |

Agreed, if I was born only 3 minutes earlier I would have been a Much different person as I am less than one degree into my ascendant sign. Minutes do matter on this one in my opinion as well.
