I can tell you I don't like metal (and I enjoy many music styles) and I have mixed reactions towards it. To me it feels too overwhelming, like a way to release stress or anger in an (sometimes dark) emotional kind of way. This often leaves me feeling low and I much prefer music which uplifts my spirit and gives me the happy feeling. That said, I think I can share my placements to contribute to your topic somehow: I am a Virgo Sun and Mercury, Libra Moon and Venus, Capricorn Mars, Taurus ascendant.

Would you mind sharing your Uranus House placement and major aspects as well? Any Uranus contacts to luminaries or personal planets in your chart?

Sure. I would say I've got a strong Uranus in my chart, not off the wall but I think noticeable (the influence of other planets, like Neptune in my chart is stronger though). Uranus in my chart is placed in Sagittarius in the 8th house and it's major aspects are:
Uranus square Jupiter (0 degree orb)
Uranus square Sun
Uranus square Mercury
Uranus semisquare Pluto
Uranus trine North Node
Uranus opposite Chiron
Uranus sesquiquadrate Ascendant
Uranus semisextile MC

Uranus-Sun and Mercury are within a 5 degree orb and the rest have a 2-3 degree orb, except for Uranus-Jupiter, which is one of the tightest in my chart.

Uranus in my chart is at the peak of a t-square formation between Jupiter in Pisces in the 11th house and Sun and Mercury in Virgo in the 5th house.

Is Uranus important with relation to liking this type of music?

My metal-hating dad is a Cappy Sun, Virgo Moon, Libra AC person with only Saturn in a water sign.

I have the same signs in my big 3 and Pluto is my only water planet. I like metal. No one in my closest family does.

I feel like metal can be somewhat of a fire-placement kind of thing too.

The lead singer of In Flames (one of my favorite bands) has a lot of fire in his chart.. And, I would go to say their sound IS Fiery lol. But, yeah, I tend to think of Scorpio placements. Me and that lead singer both have Sun opposite Pluto, and I think that aspect really shows up in his lyrics. 'My Sweet Shadow' is a good example. I also really like the song 'A New Dawn' I like quite a few of their songs on the album A Sense of Purpose. My favorite songs from that album are probably 'Sleepless Again' and 'Drenched in Fear' Drenched in Fear being one of my all-time favorite songs from them.

Another favorite band of mine is probably Soilwork. I really like their song 'Light Discovering Darkness' another one of my all-time favorite songs.

There is a whole list of them though. Some of them being the more "screamo" kind of music, like early Alesana. But, I tend to prefer bands like the ones already mentioned.

I always attributed my liking of Metal to my Mars square Pluto. Especially when it comes to songs like 'Wait and Bleed' by Slipknot.. And music like old-school Korn. (I think both bands kind of fall within the nu-metal sub genre, but still..)

I think Saturn, in the correct circumstances could relate with metal too.

EDIT: Ah, then there is Scar Symmetry too!!! :O I love their song 'Timewave Zero' The wordplay and double meanings (sometimes even triple meanings lol) in their songs always blow me away.

And Ateyu. Their album The Curse is one of my favorite metal albums. Love 'The Crimson'.. Their sound kind of had to grow on me though. They were probably one of the major bands that introduced me into some of the heavier stuff.

Having planets in fire might help the Deep Purple crowd. Not the moon, though. Solar fire is a little bit different than passion. A lot nuttier no doubt.
