I think that Mars on the cusp refers more to Mars in the 29th degree, since it's a critical transitional point for any personal planet to be in. In that degree, Mars might 'adopt' the traits of the next sign, but the planet will never fully embody these traits and it is frustrating. There is a sense of anxiety about 'moving forward' into the next sign and this literally can translate into anxiety in every day life about moving forward and making decisions. And when this anxiety comes into play, traits of both the current and next Mars sign usually present themselves.

So I'm honestly not quite sure if Mars in the 0 degree would really present itself as a 'cusp' planet, but it doesn't seem that way to me. In my mind, I would think Mars in the 0 degree of a sign would be pure, unbridled and uninhibited energy in the expression of that sign's characteristics.

The 29th degree always looks back and reflects. Trying to find the best possible way of tackling something.Likely to be very authoritarian.

The 0 degree is -as sweet-scorpion put it- an "unbridled", "raw","undiluted" energy.

Mistakes are plentiful.Like a baby trying to walk. But the enthusiasm is never dampened;no matter how hard the fall.

The 0 degree is about looking forwards and taking chances.Belief in oneself is all that the person has and little else.

Self doubt can be there from time to time. But the faith to overcome is stronger.

0 degrees requires a adjustment period, growth, development, refinement. This degree is uncertainty at younger ages, as one matures they master it better. 0 degrees is like a baby learning to walk -- it gets better with age.
