Not sure it feels great to have someone's Saturn right on top of my blossoming, free, sunny and culminating Jupiter....I might have missed the point completely though so please fill me in if that is so.

It depends on how the person uses their Saturn influence, tbh.

The person can either ground you and like, prevent you from spending carelessly and being self-indulgent;
or they might expect you to be too serious and responsable and sort of make you feel caged.

Someone's Saturn fell on my Sun-Mars conjunction and I just felt I had to 'live up to them' somehow.
I had this deep fear of disappointing them.

Person in question is trying to "teach" me that one can't possibly love the human population all the same because they are not worth it...or donating money to animal shelters is a bad idea because there are starving children in the world....or that my sunny outlook and I-never-give-up attitude will only make me exhausted.

In his defense I COULD probably temper my enthusiasm to save the world a little but I don't need to have it killed :-/

I tend to avoid those. I already have Venus-Saturn conjunct Venus natally,so I don't need anymore inputs from anyone else externally.

Plus I really don't think that my Sun/Jupiter/Neptune conjunct would take it.

The best way to deal with Saturn folks is to smile and nod. Then just do your own thing.

People whom I have a Saturn(Me) conjunct their natal planet with, usually do this- when i get really preachy about "doing better" and all that.

When you are Saturn, you really can't help but be the wet blanket. Its out of your hands sadly

But I must add that it usually also depends on the type of energy your chart has. I think that Sun in Cap/Moon in Cap even my Mercury in Cap will not mind being told by Saturn person how to do this and that.

But I have Sun in Sag/Moon in Cancer and when Saturn touches either one,Sag says" Stay out of my business" and Cancer responds with "Don't butt into things that are too complex for you to understand".

Is someone actually trying to "teach" you those things? Tell them to go away. Life is too short for that kind of pessimism. Here are my thoughts on what your "teacher" is trying to teach you:

1) You can love humanity as a whole, but be disappointed in individuals. Loving humanity as whole stems from the understanding that we are all learning and everyone on Earth will have moments where they behave terribly. And of course, some individuals will have more terrible moments than others. You can still "love" terrible individuals from afar by hoping they learn the necessary life lessons to become better people.

2) It's not "bad" to donate to animal shelters. Animals need love and help, too. And I'm going to be honest: donating to funds that claim to "help" starving children doesn't necessarily help the needy. Many times the money that you donate to your local humane society will be put to better use than money donated to large foundations that claim to help impoverished countries. A large percentage of those donations is used to pay employee salaries, advertising space, office rent, ect. An investigative study also showed that when money was donated to the government of some impoverished countries, oftentimes government officials kept all the money for themselves instead of using it to help the citizens.

3) Psychology studies strongly suggest that optimism leads to more energy, happiness, and a longer lifespan. Pessimism is linked to depression and an earlier death. IMO, I prefer to be what I call a "realist optimist." Meaning, you understand and accept that humanity is flawed and terrible things will always happen in the world, but you have an unwavering belief in humanity's potential for goodness.

It's great if you work together. On anything. Put that damn ***** to work.
I've been both..
Hmm their Saturn on my Jup. Kind of a wet blanket now that I think about it.
Huh.
I think ime it's the Saturn person who's saying "no, no, this'll never work, you're being naive" "life isn't like that" "things arent that easy" "its not that simple"
Then the Jupiter person, my experience again, something like "youre raining on my parade"
This is just in the conceptualizing stage, just basic chit chat and the conversation turns to manifesting anything.
But if there's actual work to be done, they're a good pair.
