So basically if you are in same location as birth than mc and asc are also same.
In any case you need to look at all your natal planets in solar return and all solar return chart planets in Natal chart houses.
Whatever depicted the life/death situation
was in the other aspects not just the fact the vertex was conjunct vertex.
So planets in either chart aspecting the vertex but also each other and most importantly in the SR chart are simply the planets in 1,4,7,10 houses and if those 4 places in the SR chart have planets aspecting any in Natal. This should show you
what areas of life will be emphasized in coming year. Chances are you already know or feel what those are.
Do not fret that someone who had vertex conjunct vertex from SR to natal had a life death experience.
Maybe take special note of new persons you meet.
