About the fact that most animals we eat are Chickens, Cows, and Pigs (in America, at least) and look at the personality of those animals and then look at the personality of Americans. Like, what if the DNA inside of the meat is affecting our body and mind's DNA and it's making us have the same instincts and characteristics as those animals?Like what if we ate tigers instead, or maybe aliens (if they are real). Would we become more like tigers? Would our minds and bodies utilize their DNA to the extent that some form of evolution happens, since our bodies have become familiarized with it time and time again? IP: Logged |

That's actually very true. Best not to eat animals at all. Esp in America they hurt the animals and make them suffer, then give them harmful antibiotics... then humans eat all that. IP: Logged |

I honestly don't know what you're talking about. I've spent years on farms, that of my extended family and of others. I know cows and pigs and even chickens have distinct personalities, just like Americans and just like wild animals and just like people other nationalities. So what? You can't mean the physiques because pigs, cows, and chickens are too different. Nor diet because Americans don't eat grass or seeds or bugs off the ground. I really don't know what you're asking. Also, Texas eats far more beef than pork, a difference with some other southern states, and I don't see that Alabamans are more piggish than Texans or Texans more cow-like than Alabamans. And seafood is quite common as well. Does that give us the personality of fish? Does eating plants give us the personality of plants? quote: Originally posted by meowpower: Like, what if the DNA inside of the meat is affecting our body and mind's DNA and it's making us have the same instincts and characteristics as those animals?Like what if we ate tigers instead, or maybe aliens (if they are real). No, eating meat does not introduce a retrovirus into us that rewrites our DNA. Though if it did then you can bet the government would be feeding us (at least the males) wolves and tigers to make better soldiers (or maybe a diet of bees and ants to make better collectivist workers). But think if that was how it worked...then wolves and tigers and coyotes and all the other animals who ate meat would take on the personality (or whatever you're talking about) of their prey! It might work better as a metaphor (or, make that "meataphor"! ) for say treating animals in a certain way trains us to treat each other that way as well (at least those who have been in any way dehumanized in the eyes of others). Some also believe that the psychic vibrations are important, that is in addition to the meat is the aura of how it lived and died and that one raised in horrid conditions and slaughtered in a factory line is going to carry a different energy from one that was grown free range or an animal hunted in the wild, and that energy gets imparted into the one who eats of it as does the meat. That strikes me as plausible at least. IP: Logged |

"You are what you eat" would sum up the OP, but I somewhat disagree. I don't think consuming meat would cause a person to develop personality/behavioral traits of the animal it came from, however, I do think it can influence one's appearance. I don't (always) factor in appearance when it comes to judging a person, but through my observations I have noticed that people who, for instance, consume pork more than beef, chicken, fish, etc. will have some facial characteristics that resemble a pig. If they mostly consume beef they'll have some cow-like facial characteristics. Same with any other animal. I suppose this phenomenon might be less noticeable when someone eats around the same amount of different kinds of meat altogether (the case with most people), which would result in "hybrid" facial characteristics, and therefore its less noticeable with them than it is with someone who predominantly eats one kind of meat. Again, these superficial things don't influence my perception of others (I prefer to see the depth beyond), but I do find this particular observation to be a bit interesting. Has anyone else noticed this?IP: Logged |

The way we treat other sentient beings is a reflection of how we feel about ourselves. I am you, and you are me And I've heard about that too. Who knows, maybe that is the case beyond the sub-atomic level (String Theory). Everything is essentially frequency/vibration/sound. Maybe emotions/feelings do affect the "songs" of sentient beings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33IiYb8htHk IP: Logged |

So what's the original source? Are cows acting like grass? Grass becoming more like water, nutrients, and sunlight? Maybe we'll be able to achieve photosynthesis! Truth is. I love meat and I will eat meat even if it kills me. Unless you buy or grow STRICTLY organic you're subjected to a lot of chemicals! Even then, the ground could be contaminated or the water. Maybe I should find my hero, my idol, and eat them. IP: Logged |

This is practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine. When you are lacking or unbalanced in an element they recommend eating a bit of meat from the animal whose traits you wish to acquire more of, but it's not recommended to do it constantly. Although TCM suggest eating some meat occasionally it mostly promotes a plant based diet.
