What I mean by empirical is looking at the degree points i.e. 21° Leo in someone's birth chart and studying to see how the interpretation of this degree has manifested in someone's life.

Has it worked for you?

Yes, they work and help to shed more light.

For example, the sabian of my Moon/Neptune is 'an angel carrying a harp' and when transit Pluto went over my moon, I encountered angels and they are still with me now.

Do you guys believe in the fatalistic nature of degrees? I use the one on astrotheme.com which belongs to a very fatalistic branch and it says stuff like "should the natal chart concur the native will get meningitis and die", what do you think?

I wouldn't agree with it.

Here is another example. When my Sun progressed into 0 Leo I had a spiritual awakening, which was the same time transit Pluto went over my Moon.Neptune.

Sabians:

Leo 1. A case of apoplexy. Keywords: anger, crisis, need for stability, overwhelming potentiality.

Leo 2. An epidemic of mumps. Keywords: infection, uncontrolled situation, over activity, crisis.

The intensity of information I was getting was so much. I felt Like i was going to explode but I didn't get physically sick it was just spiritual and emotional for me.

I tend to get the same way. Thank you for sharing your opinion. Do you get severe headaches with all of this information?

Not at all

I think each degree has strengths and weaknesses but the descriptions ought to stay in the moderate range and not assume gross misfortune or criminal instincts or anything.

The book I mentioned above is based heavily on empirical research.
