I have many ways to make money. They're mostly creative (either in creating them, or creating a creative product) or involve entertaining (usually of kids, typically little girls, at birthday parties). I presumed this is my 5H stellium. That said, I have common Taurus MC qualities: I'm persistent and not easily discouraged (but again, also Sag stellium, and I bet the Libra Saturn helps, too), and can realistically decide whether something is worth it or not. I feel secure in my jobs because no one can fire me or lay me off since I work for myself (though when the economy is bad then others can't afford me as much), which also means I'm in charge (though I do have to satisfy my customers). I have narrowed down those I do with business with to those I like best, but that has the disadvantage that I'm now more dependent on those people which bothers me as it (potentially) threatens my autonomy. Most people don't feel secure that way, though, and presumably if I didn't then as a Taurus MC then I couldn't do what I do. I was just reading of Taurus in MC and it says that one possibility is the arts and creating things, which fits me. It's also correct in that I see business opportunities where others don't (part of creative ways to make money through original ideas). It's also correct in that now that I've found my niche, I'm content to sail through life. I don't need to make a ton of money or anything like that, just enough to be comfortable with reasonable expectations of it continuing. Indeed, I once needed help so hired my BFF and pretty much split the take 50/50, and after which I had so much in profit (by my standards) that I gave a chunk of my share to her to help see her through which she was supposed to pay back with her tax return, but the return was a lot less than she expected. Since this was out of character for her and I was sure she regretted it, I just shrugged it off and told her not to worry about it (and meant it). IP: Logged |

I work in psychiatric settings, for the most part. I've also worked in detox centers and homeless shelters, almost always non-profits that pay very little, but always causes I believe in with my full heart.I attribute this more to my Cap Mars and Aqua Mercury in H6, and Cancer Saturn in H11. My H10 is empty. I do have some Taurus tendencies at work, like dependability and dedication. I'm also pretty stubborn, and if I don't mesh well with coworkers or the general philosophy of a place, I'll quit without much further thought. I don't get paid enough to deal with annoying or inept coworkers or supervisors. Sometimes, however, that backfires for me and I realize in hindsight that I was simply being stubborn and egotistical, and there was really nothing wrong with the way things were being run, it just wasn't MY way. So I've learned some things in that area, I suppose. IP: Logged |

Right now I'm an artist assistant to make money, and I'm an artist to not make money. (music / installation art)I guess it makes sense, I do not care if I have to starve for years, as long as I am free to make my art, I believe I will be able to live the lifestyle I want to eventually. IP: Logged |

I thought I'd list some of the more amazing creative and/or clever jobs I came up with for myself. In trying times, I made stuffed toys and dolls for less than $10 and an hour worth of time and marketed them as "originals" which made me a large profit, so large I actually feel a bit guilty about it, though others who are ironically less materialistic than me tell me not to, and I've also seen places that would then price the doll up for up to DOUBLE what they paid me, and within 3 months (sometimes less than 1) it was sold! (The key was the marketing, not the product. If I sold them as "dolls" then I'd have barely gotten my money back!) I also became a "proxy address" for many to get materials they didn't want linked to themselves for various reasons (it does require an open mind given what some have me get for them, though it includes getting packages so they can give a present to someone without worrying about the one to get the present finding it in the mail instead). In short, they pay the costs and I get it in my name, and then get a "finder's fee" for discreetly delivering it to them (there are other features to maximize privacy). Of course this has gotten me onto wild lists for advertising, but as a lot of the junk mail was colorful, I found some lacquer thinner at a very good price and used that to bleed the color catalogs onto ordinary freezer paper which I then sold to a couple of shops (and also a few others) as cheap (yet very unique looking) gift wrap paper (but I eventually ran out of thinner, and the prices for getting more were so outrageous that I discontinued that). Perhaps the funniest one time job was how a computer instructor at a community college was frustrated at trying to get his vox to work (definitely an example of how you can be brilliant but have no sense), and saying he'd given up on it, so I offered to fix it for $20. He was happy and I called up the manual online and instantly went to the "if it's not working then stop being stupid" section where I was quickly inspired to make sure all the screens match on both phones with the vox. One didn't and after I fixed that then it worked. I think it was like 2 minutes to fix and that includes getting the manual! I waited a couple of hours and lied about how it took me the entire time to figure it out so he wouldn't feel so bad and to be sure I got my $20. (That had some amusing consequences down the line, too, but that's another story.) Oh, btw, quick tip for those good with repairs! I was checking a bin at a Goodwill and found a nonfunctioning musical keyboard which I got for a single dollar and took to a friend of mine figuring he could fix it (and if not then I was only out a dollar) and sell it with a little of the profit kicked back to me as a "finder's fee." It took him less than an hour and less than $10 of parts and then he sold it within a month for $300! And my cut was $75, and he insisted I take that rather than take out the money for parts and advertisement, but probably to help himself feel better as after that he cut me out of the middle and went to find junk to fix and sell himself and made a pretty decent living at it on the side (with no kickbacks to me). If I was better at repairs like that then I'd be doing that myself. Easy money. These are just a few of the more notable examples of my creativity, there are so many more. But I'll end with the one I think I'm the most proud of. I was needing extra money as the Hannah Montana movie came out so I used all the rep I had with kids (babysitting, entertaining at birthday parties, etc) to pass along that I was taking the kids to see it so they didn't have to for $20 a kid (but they had to give the kids money for everything else including tickets), which is a very reasonable price given that I was also babysitting for 2 hours in addition to sparing the parents and grandparents the horror of watching that movie over and over again. This service became so popular that this was when I had to hire my BFF and make other arrangements, and I was typically making over a hundred bucks a day, and on my best days I topped $1,000, even after expenses! This was despite that a few parents ripped me off (making me pay for the movie tickets) but I was a good sport about it as I was making so much that I often bought them expensive movie treats as well since all the other kids were (though told them casually that their parents screwed up the deal and this might be the only time, but enjoy it, it's not their fault so they'll still get to see the movie this once). @PixieJane: Beautiful and interesting points! I love your mentality. I am just starting out in my career/professional world and the more I get jobs, the more I just want to branch out and do my own thing. Do you think that is a Taurus MC trait? How did you found your niche? Was it hard? IP: Logged | |
