Those of you who have Solar Fire, I’ve read some people saying that there’s a difference in the degree of planets like when looking at your progressed moon for example. How many degrees difference do you find between the two programs? Ahead or behind? I’m a mac user so I don’t own SF. IP: Logged |

No, not a difference of degrees. Only a minute or so of arc for outer planets like Pluto. All measurements of planet and luminary positions are made at their center and geocentrically from the Earth's center unless another option (topocentric) is used. The only way there will be a difference of a degree or so for the Moon is if someone chose the 'topocentric positions' option in say astro.com but not in their other program. That is because of parallax effect that topocentric positions compensates for, which can affect the Moon noticeably, but not really any other planet. The real differences show up in the MC and house calculations (not Asc). Again we're talking minutes of arc, not degrees. So how far off is astro.com? It depends on what options you choose and what you consider accurate. As it comes to anything besides the Moon and the topocentric positions, like house positions, not off enough to matter to anyone but technical astrologers. ------------------ Soul Stars Astrology - by the declinations guy Declinations: because the planets move north and south of the celestial equator IP: Logged |

hey, EmGemI have this situation and I still cant figure out which is the correct one. The difference is in the progressed ASC only, everything else is the same. astro.com has my progressed ASC at 19' Taurus, while SolarFire and astrowin has it at 23' Taurus. They use a different method for calculating the progressed ASC. SolarFire and astowin use the solar arc/MC method for calculating the progressed ASC. astro.com still can give you that other method but you have to select it yourself from the option menu. If I click the box that says " solar arc/MC method" , then the progressed ASC matches that one from Solar Fire. If I don't click it, than the progressed ASC on astro.com is 4-5 degrees different. I am still wondering which one to take of the two, as life events support both ASCs. IP: Logged |

I’m a Mac user and I can use Astro.com. I think you mean what can we use instead of solar fire. I’m not sure 🤔 they really should develop one for Mac. IP: Logged |

Oh how annoying! I’m going to check mine. Edit: my prog ascendant is earlier by 1.5 degrees. So I might be Sag for a little longer than I thought. IP: Logged |

My Prog Ascendant is now Aquarius 16.07 and has transiting Sun conjunct (as I just checked it).Solar/MC method Prog Descendant is at 10.41 LEO, and puts my P'Jupiter 10.16 back touching the Descendant! I know that my P'Asc Aquarius 16+ has some added 'trines' to be added to my Solar/MC-MC Sag "in the future" with the Solar/MC method. I have the following ALL in LEO now-- Mercury 2+, Sun 7+, Jupiter 10+, Mars 12.59 (almost 13+), Vesta 15+, Pluto 25+. 6 in LEO, and Descendant somewhere between 10+ and 16+ LEO. P'Venus is now 29+ Cancer... She'll join the LEO party, in a while. My P'MC is Sag 5.58 .. Moves BACKwards via P'SolarMC-MC to 2.22 Sag!!
~* I displayed that, to show you this. If you can make it "work" for you, in a "psychological" way ..., then USE it. (As someone said... you see evidence for both. ..) If it is more 'hopeful', then chose whichever-one gives you the feeling of having more confidence? The inner-way energetically you approach your life (and chart delineations) will count for MUCH. I'm doin' it using the Zen-Progressed way-- meaning, "I'm gonna use BOTH!!!" (that's a bit of 'humor', by the way! *smile*) IP: Logged |

I wish I knew which one is more accurate because I have natal Saturn at 22' Taurus, so I wonder if I am done with the bulllshite of prog ASC conjunct my Saturn ( if I use the Solar Arc method, the pr asc is at 23' Taurus), or is it coming up next ( with astro.com method, the asc is at 19' Taurus). In a way, am I coming or going... IP: Logged |

I like your zen progressed approach mirage lol.Orange I’d say you’re done with Saturn on your pASC. I’d go the solar arc method I like being a pSag asc so I’ll go with that too. IP: Logged |

Em, I am also perplexed. I do prefer the solar arc method because with it - the Saturn-Asc conjunction in my progressed chart would have passed last year ( a very bad rotten year..*holding my nose*).

Oh dear... that would be as confusing AF for me. I know some people don’t believe in this but have you ever tried rectifying your asc? Maybe therein lies the issue. Although I had mine done and it gave me an ascendant that was three signs behind my original. Didn’t vibe with it in the end. IP: Logged |
