I know the 6th house is related to animals so planets here could indicate this? I read that having the ruler of the 6th house in the 4th house would indicate working with animals on a daily basis. Or that animals can be like family.

I like animals more than people, especially dogs. My dog is my darling little sweetheart, definitely more my family than some of the people I'm closely related to. And I do like working with dogs, though not as a profession... I have no planets in the 6th house, Pisces on the cusp. Neptune in 3rd house, but conjunct IC.

Ruler of 5th in 6th
Saturn in 6th
Sun in 6th
Ruler of 6th in aspect to Saturn.

Animals give routine, structure and discipline. They force one to develop leadership abilities and self confidence.

I watch "the dog whisperer" a lot and I also like "the lion whisperer" and one of the impressions i get from Cesar Millan and Kevin Richardson respectively, is that they are people who have learned to develop absolute control of their emotions and are quite disciplined(even fearless).

Animals can teach you to trust yourself and refrain from panicking. They get you to be more in touch with your primal instincts(not intellect).

This is different from having "pets". Because "pets" are sometimes substitutes for children with people and/or company. So there is a bit of relationship confusion and boundaries crossed etc.

I notice that with the dog I have, he doesn't follow a rigid schedule or routine. Its very casual. So our interaction is not "work" but more undefined i.e sometimes play and at other times affection etc.

The ruler of my 6th house is in the 9th house. And the 9th house is the 4th house from the 6th(so can you see how changeable our relationship is?)

Add to that Jupiter is at the beginning of the 9th house. And its in "open-ended" Sag. So I am very casual with him. If Cesar Millan met the dog, he would label it as "undisciplined" but very friendly. He loves people. A little too much(tbh)

My 6th house is in Capricorn why wouldn’t Moon in the 6th be one if Sun is?

I have a stellium in the 6th and I foster kittens and have always been really drawn to cats my whole life. I've owned all kinds of animals except dogs lol. Dogs have never really liked me for some reason. I have a stellium in the 12th too and I've read that it can also rule large animals and I connect with horses/livestock the same way I do with cats.

in placidus i have a 6th house pisces cusp and neptune in the 3rd and i feel that way about my birds, though so does my fiancee without that going on in her chart

one of them in particular (the other is semi-tame) is really close to us but we both care about them more than we do a lot of people

also have some wild animal friends who we spend time with when we garden chipmunks and deer (they come right up to us and are friendly, the deer especially are affectionate one of them has walked up to me while i was sitting down and just kind of licked my nose out of nowhere they're a lot more like dogs than i would've guessed)

i used to hang out with a baby raccoon when i smoked cigarettes in the garden too it'd come by at night and did for a while

i prefer them to plenty of people too, they're interesting to spend time with

Some speculation... train of thought I had after reading Aries23's post.

What I like most about dogs are their positive nature and communication skills. I grew up in a big pack of huskies, they were my first friends and playmates. I still feel like I understand dogs so much better than people. They are always truthful.... What they show outward is what they have inside... so there is never any dissonance or mixed messages. I find that so relaxing. I tend to be really intuitive when it comes to body language, moods, emotions... both with people and animals. But with people I often get mixed messages and it just gets confusing sometimes. People are just too complex. With dogs I just have to look at them and I'll know what they are feeling or want to tell me. They are just wonderfully straightforward like that. And I'm fairly good at communicating with them too. I'm a good mimic, I can take dog body-language and use it myself to some extent. And for the rest, well, dogs just need repetition, routine words and gestures, a straightforward body language... or they'll just not know what you are on about. I find that relaxing as well. With people I tend to unconsciously change my communication style to suit the other person, which can get a bit exhausting... with dogs I don't do that.

With the ruler of my Pisces 6th house in the 3rd, I guess it would make sense that communication is a big draw for me. Neptune is also trine to my Moon in Virgo in the 12th, which I'd say is the root of my intuition issues. I also have Saturn in my third house, which might add that skill/need for structured and routine language and body-language.

On the other hand I also have Uranus in the third house, and Sagittarius on the cusp... so it's not like I'm very strict. We work on our communication, but not really on anything else...

I am in two minds about Moon in 6th.

On the one hand,Moon rules the Cancer house which is 11 houses away from the 6th. It is the house of "gains"

But it is also the house of "reversals". And its ruler(Moon) is very changeable. So unless Moon is in Taurus or placed in Cap,the native will have mood swings affect their interaction with animals. A so-so mix.

If Moon in 11th is in Aqua or in aspect with Uranus(and Mars too) an accident involving an animal happens i.e if working with horses, they could get kicked or risk that happening quite a few times. With dogs, they could be bitten frequently or the dogs respond unpredictably to them etc.

They are likely to feel very close to an animal for instance but be unable to draw a professional distance or impersonalize the association.

So getting "offended" or taking it to heart if an animal does not respond in a desired way could result in "stupid dog! You make me look bad." kind of situations.

When I was younger I use to really want to volunteer at my local Humane Society. I have Moon in the 6th house that's probably why.
