Hi WS,

Things are going well. I've been working full time as a Family Readiness Support Assistant for the Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck (for one of the squadrons). I love my squadron and the families are wonderful. They just returned from a 15 month deployment and are now in their "relax" stage.

Bear is doing well- although they have had alot of dust storms and I'm not too keen on the missions that he goes on, but he is incredibly careful.

We are totally counting down the days before we can see each other. I miss him so much but we are lucky that we get to talk almost every day.

Sadly though, the Soldier from Bamberg that killed 5 Soldiers at Camp Liberty, killed two of ours from Bear's Brigade. I will be going to the memorials next week. I feel terrible for their families

How are you doing these days?

Thats sad to hear about the soldier killing 5 soldiers. Do they know the reason?? Sounds strange..I dont watch the news too much so not really current on the news events.
I cannot even imagine how it feels to be seperated as much as you guys are...sounds very difficult.
Im okay, moving soon to another city, and hopefully getting my career in full swing lol.
Are you guys still trying? I think you guys would make cute babies..lol

Hi WS,

How exciting to move to a new city. I know everything will work out for you and your career.

Bear and I are definitely going to keep trying for a peewee LOL... R&R in August will be the perfect time, if not we'll keep trying when he comes home. It is hard to be separated but we work hard on communicating with each other every chance we get. We send each other care packages, email and talk on the phone / IM as much as possible.

As to the Soldier that killed the others, well, they said he was having severe issues. He had a history of past violence against family members and had been having episodes downrange. His command felt he needed to go to the stress clinic for evaluation and that he could not long carry his weapon. Once evaluations are complete they can then send them back to their home of record (his was Bamberg, Germany where he was stationed) and begin an intense mental health treatment.

He got angry with several people at the clinic and got into a verbal altercation. His escort took him out of the building and they got into the vehicle to go back to his tent or command (that part is unclear) somewhere during the drive, he got the weapon from the escort, forced him out of the vehicle and drove back to the clinic. Once there is busted through the door and opened fire.

Sadly, on of our Soldiers that had gotten killed had told his mother on Mother's Day that there was a Soldier that really worried him because he was so messed up and angry. The shooter was on his 3rd deployment in Iraq and was due to redeploy in 6 weeks but he was more angry that he was about to get put out of the Army for his issues.

So very sad I think our community is still in shock and I know Bamberg is having an awful time with the knowledge that one of their own killed 5 fellow Soldiers.

Thanks.
The world is a mess...I dont know whats going on the outside world because of depressing news like that. Theres enough on my plate, I just dont have the energy to watch it right now.

Im praying for you. I dont know why, but I want you to be a mother. I know you'd be great at it. It seems like a lot of people who arent mothers too quickly, are usually the most motherly/loving ones.
Keep us updated.
