Can anyone tell me why the male pill is not on the market yet?The female version has been around for YEARS. Im not the most trusting of people where women are concerned, but it gives them a right (?) to have someones child and keep making them pay, even if they dont bring child up. No, not all do. Really, why? I cant really see it being because it is not invented yet, or not tested. Anyone had a vasectomy? What was it like? What are the chances of it not working properly? IP: Logged |

Maybe because men would need a woman around to take it? To nag them I mean. Maybe because they fear it would do something hormonal, i.e. make them get feminine traits, I know dumb thought, but men do get paranoid. Maybe because men don't generally like taking medicine and usually have to be forced. Maybe just the connotations freak them out. and maybe like you said they arent sure if it works yet??? The F.D.A. takes forever on some stuff.I don't know any man with a snip job. Even the ones who don't want kids. Its always relayed to me that "no body is getting near my boys with a sharp object" Plus I hear it is horrible to reverse, I mean it hurts alot. These are just theories after one hour of sleep at 3 something in the morning, so don't mind me..... IP: Logged |

As much as I generally hate to say this, it's because birth control is generally perceived as being the responsibility of the female. Doesn't make it right - but here we are. I think a male pill would be brilliant. I'd rather my husband take that than any of the other options available. I'm all for it. I don't think he'd have any problem with it.IP: Logged |

DeuxActually, I think it's because most men don't want to walk around without feeling a sense of virility. If you view the world as being "male dominated" it makes sense. Most things have been invented/created/discovered by men. Why would this area have been researched in the past? IP: Logged |

Manufacturers don't think men would buy it and thus they wouldn't make any money.I did a report on this years ago for school. Plenty of male birth control methods exist, but they're not going to become popular any time soon. Though to be fair, a "pill" for men is apparently harder to work on what with the sperm and all. My ex had a vasectomy years before I met him. We were monogamous and had unprotected sex for more than 3 years, then out of the blue I got pregnant. So, it can happen..... No birth control is *100%* guaranteed except a complete hysterectomy.IP: Logged |

Scientists develop male birth control pill Single dose, hormone-free drug prevents ejaculation of spermWhen it comes to birth control, it may finally be the guy's turn. British scientists are developing a male birth control pill that could put a smile on the faces of a lot of women, according to a report by NBC's Dawn Friesen on "Today" Tuesday. The hormone-free pill, which prevents the ejaculation of sperm, could be on the market in five years. The pill, a single dose taken a few hours before having sex, affects contraction of the muscles that control ejaculation, but wouldn't interfere with performance or orgasm sensation, researchers at King's College London say. The result is a dry ejaculation. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15937201 http://health.howstuffworks.com/male-bc-pill.htm http://www.pamf.org/teen/sex/birthcontrol/malecontraceptive.html I am not really worried about birth control. I am not into having sex outside of a relationship, and I don't want to be with a woman that doesn't want to have children.
Also I have high estrogen levels and lower than average testosterone, and so I am more likely to be less fertile than an average male. Male birth control pills might even have an adverse affect on reproductive system and mess up my hormones. I already take a male multivitamin to deal with hormone issues. Raymond
