Did anyone read his book Angela's Ashes? I read it a few years. His early years were rough. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090720/ap_on_en_ot/us_obit_mccourt IP: Logged |

Dee, so sad. The side of my family I'm closest to is strongly culturally Irish-American and we passed all his books around for years. I loved the way he wrote, it was so Irish- full of tragedy but yet strangely funny and tender. Yeats called that a "terrible beauty." quote: I write it out in a verse -- MacDonagh and MacBride And Connolly and Pearse Now and in time to be, Wherever green is worn, Are changed, changed utterly: A terrible beauty is born.
RIP Frank McCourt, thank you for all your terrible beauties. IP: Logged |

His writing was so accurate of the Irish upbringing at that time and his humour and wit so typical.... Ofcourse not all of us are so talented and witty but he captures an essence. Rest IN Peace IP: Logged |
