... IF you post in the right forum. LL Central and Astrology 2.0 get a post every 15 min on average (maybe even less). It's great that these boards get so much participation. And then there are forums like "Teen Spirit" - no new posts since July 2nd; Divine Diversities - no responses since July 9th etc. It begs questions like: Are there simply too many forums on LL? Are people bothered enough to follow the rules of posting? How much can you get away with? Does it depend on who your friends are here? It's only natural to make alliances and certain people gravitate to certain others. Moderators are to remain unbiased which is totally impossible if you have any lower human emotion in you, a.k.a. you are still a human, not a saint [or a robot]. So we all think we do the best we can. But can we do better or are we just kidding ourselves? I would have LOVED if somebody posted on my Quaker's Church question in DD as I'm sure they would have had I posted in in LL Central. The plan of diverting traffic to the other forums is a great one, but it is feasible? How long will that take? I want to not only read stories about pets and wild animals but also see people's feedback on those stories. Instead I get to see a LOLCats picture competition on LL Central and no response threads on Heathcliffe's Corner. Don't get me wrong, I like LOLCats! But why not have real cat stories on the same forum? Or maybe I'm just too serious for this place? IP: Logged |

My cat is my soulmate! I have never had a connection with anyone the way I have with her. I'm going to come back to this in the morning when I'm on a laptop rather than my phone xIP: Logged |

sorry but i don't quite get what the problem is...that some forums are used more than others? sooo...? but yes, that does seem to be the trend and yesterday i figured out that if you have a topic you want a lot of people to see, you put it in astro or LCC and if it is deemed inappropriate, NOW it will be moved to another forum. this solves your problem completely, as you can place your thread "prominently" and it will be moved to the other forum where it will attract more hits to that forum. so the process is in place, since that is what abs has been doing just recently...to a chorus of complaints as i recall.. interesting that you started a thread on quakers yin! i was just thinking last night about doing the same thing. i will see you there! Yeah I can see some confusion as to people not knowing where to post. But I think if people just post in the right forum, this shouldn't be too hard to get used to. If not, the post will probably get moved to where it should be..And what I like about LLC/LLC2 is that people can come here if they are stressed or need a smile...hence the LOL cats. And that wasn't a competition, it was all in good fun. I found myself looking for them and having a good laugh.. I just wanted to share. Was it too much? If it was I'll quit posting them.. I think it will just take time for people to adjust. There were valid reasons the forum description had to change Edited: got carried away again...

I had the possibility, in my head, of a similar layout to other forums, like Aeclectic Tarot, or WetCanvas. Several 'main' forums, with sub-forums at the top.Astrology 2.0 > Astrology > Advanced Astrology > Soul Unions LindaLand Central 2 > LindaLand Central > Know Two Are Alike Global Unity > Heathcliffe's Corner Just to give an idea. That way, when you click to the main forum, you see the latest topic posted in the sub-forums. That's just what crossed my mind yesterday. I don't think it can be done with this software, though. kat, your solution sounds very reasonable but that was not the point of the new rules. Plus, if my threads are going to be moved somewhere, why would I waste my time and post on LLC to begin with? So somebody can arbitrarily decide where my threads will fit?I liked the old rules better and under those I didn't see the need for more than 2 forums. Astrology and Everything Else. Just look at the "Everything" thread! You get to talk about literally everything and anything! Including worms and people's pets. At what point does that thread become about something that needs to be moved to it's own forum? LOL. Maybe it's better that we have options like the option to go to "For The Pilgrim's Progress" and have our topics read by 5 people tops. I personally think that it defeats the purpose of having a PUBLIC FORUM. This is a discussion space. I can post comments on people's blogs and not expect any feedback because that's what blogs are FOR: news updates. LL is a big deal. I mean, who else goes to the same site over and over every day, month, year... for 10 years? Does that exist anywhere else on the web? Randall has created a space that is enriching the lives of so many people here! Wink, I prefer the LOLCats a thousand times over pictures of naked men in my face. teasel, that's a great idea. I don't think it could be done either. I have suggested that more help is needed to organize this place and have made some progress with my "Contents of Health and Healing" topic on H&H. I'm game, if anybody needs help with organization. Archives are needed. (My internal librarian is speaking here. You should see the battles catalogers get into when trying to classify a book though!) Yeah I agree that maybe we can loosen up a little on moving threads around. I think the main point of that was to divert any hijacking of threads and threads turned into something they weren't intended to be..IMO.

This forum's description is as follows:A general discussion gathering-place where you can talk about anything you like that's not listed in another Forum description; make new friends, lend support, share inspirational stories, and recommend any interesting sites that you come across. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you disagree with this, you should discuss it with Randall. If other things get posted here, they will be moved to the appropriate forum section. This has been applied equitably to everyone, from the get go when I accepted the moderator position. The first post I moved, was mine. IP: Logged |

The forum's description was changed because it was a way to deal with Valus' threads short of banning him. You, I and everybody who comes here knows that, Abs. I'm sure you all cheered at that, some more publicly than others. We are now left to the kitties and bare-chested men. I miss the thought-provoking threads, although I can't say I miss seeing most of you here gang up on the one person closest to me. IP: Logged |

Maybe a new forum for humor is needed and all the related things liked ogling men and women and Godzala threads, LOLCATS and so forth. Like for example...LL COMEDY CAFE or LL COMEDY CORNER or...... HUMOUR HOUSE THE SILLY SEASON GIGGLE GAGGLE edit to add geez I misspelled humour... fixed it. ------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... Perhaps you should discuss this with Randall Yin. All I can do is to follow the rules laid out in the forums description. I do not decide what the forums discussion entails. Like I said, take that up with Randall. IP: Logged |

Just wanted to point out that the forums and thread movements arent revolving around Valus' posts. Anyone can see that. It's so weird how you both put so much importance on his threads. I think Abs is doing a very fine and fair job of keeping things balanced. I just think that really needed to be said. Thanks Abs. IP: Logged |

I just love the way Abs has taken charge. This goes here and this belongs here and don't you dare put this in here! That's what we need. Some bugger in charge. Then we can all relax

I only thought about it yesterday, because of this thread, and the only reason I mentioned Valus there, was because I remember some saying how some of his threads should be posted elsewhere. That's what I thought kicked off the rule that threads that belonged elsewhere, should be moved as appropriate. I have no problem with threads being moved, as I said here. IP: Logged |

Any sane person can see she is just taking her job seriously (and having fun with it too) and trying to help the forum and members out. If someone wants to think her moving threads has anything to to with them or is something personal, then that's their delusional egotistical problem. & It's just plain strange.IP: Logged |

And I never said anything against Abs. My post in that other thread, yesterday, was in defense of her. If I have it wrong, as to why the rules were originally changed, then I have it wrong. IP: Logged |

teasie, just to mention...i missed your post. but, i was just pointing out something i observed here. i thought this whole thing couldve been triggered by Valus going around the forums not to long ago with a " " face and saying which threads should be moved where. After Abs became Moderator. Seemed he felt the decision was wrong and appointed himself moderator by going around saying what threads should be moved where. So, Abs, looked at it honestly and moved ones that shouldve been moved. IP: Logged |

I think Abs is doing a fab and a very fair job. The place is tidy. If somebody's thread gets moved someplace else, people KNOW where it's been moved, and a lot of stagnant forums get "fresh blood" supply.Thank you, Abs IP: Logged |

since a moved thread will still be found HERE and its new location posted for all to see, i think this is the PERFECT SOLUTION. and i think it is a little narrow to suggest that valus is the only person whose threads are being moved. and what on earth stops you or anyone else checking into all the forums 24/7? nothing, that's what. sometimes i don't go to certain ones for weeks but that is my choice. i feel pretty sure that with 4 young kids abs is pretty good at playing fair and making sure everyone gets their due without trouncing everyone else. and if your main interest is health and food then there are forums for those subjects. of course if you must indulge in turf wars there's nothing much to stop you doing that as well... Oh, okay. Thank you for letting me know. I was regretting posting here, because I hadn't planned to gang up on anyone - I have been feeling more defensive in my personal life, and worried that I was coming across here that way as well, when it wasn't intended. IP: Logged |
