JD knows he isn't a shoo in. President Trump was asked if he would be endorsing Vance for 2028, and he said: "I don't know. It's still early. I haven't decided yet. We'll see. We'll see."

I think (I'm just guessing) that he would step aside and maybe even be the VP selection again (Vance is besties with Don, Jr.).
