Hey Ladies,

What has been your experience with the different birthcontrols out there? I've had frustrations with three of the fours ones I've been on, and minor issues with the current one we use, but better than the alternative, right?

I recently used Plan B One-step for the first (and hopefully only) time, and it started screwing with my body this morning, a whole ten days after I took it . Horrible cramps this morning, that got worse as I moved around, but thankfully only lasted a half an hour.

So, what are your thoughts on all this?

I'm not a fan of anything that disrupts your natural body chemistry/function.
The birth control that gives you a period 4 times a year is I'm sure just about the worst thing a woman can do to her body. Try a low-dosage one first. I've heard horror stories about Yaz so tread carefully there.
For me birth control annihilated my libido and I've never touched it since.

I hear ya loud and clear, littlecloud. The hormonal ones, even in low does did major havoc on my whole body, especially moods and libidio..
We're using condoms now, but just had one break (first time ever in a whole year) on New Years's Day, so still holding my breath even after Plan B.

Has anyone else used the emergency one, Plan B? I'm most curious about that one...

I would not interfere with hormones, either. They are very delicately balanced ,as you know

Yes I have. I didn't really have any side-effects like nausea, but it did make me get my period 2 weeks after I had already had it.

Stick to condoms if the pills have that effect on you already.

Maybe I'm getting my period again, even though it just ended six days before we had the condom mishap... What a fun experience...not!

I was on the Patch for nearly two years, but the weight gain, crying at the drop of a hat, crazy mood swings, and no interest or physical desire for sex was too much for my relationship.

I tried the Ring but it kept coming out

And I was on the Pill during highschool, just for acne-relief pruposes and gained 15 lbs in a month. Needless to say, I quit that after thhe month was up cause I couldn't see even a minor decrease in acne.

The Copper7 IUD was my favorite.
After that, the Rhythm method: http://www.contracept.org/rhythm.php
Allergic to Latex.
(if I wash the condom off first, it prevents most bad reactions.)
I see there is a polyurethane condom!
The sponge was OK.
Hated the Pills.

I Mirena. Haven't had a cycle since I got pregnant. My body is all effed up anyway, but this not having one thing is great. I get a little spotting every few months, but NOTHING like the horror show I had before.

I know of a woman that had a terrible reaction to it, her muscles were affected, and her hair fell out. I have had no problems.

Everyone is different.

I use rhythm method- never failed me. I chart my periods- and know when its safe- I usually allow certain things to occur three days before my period and up to three days after my period- sometimes during if the bleeding is light. I've always done this.

In between periods we use the pull-out a few seconds early, lay down, use oil method!

The pill works for some not for others- it messes me up.
I wont touch it again. It's not for me. I'm very sensitive to hormonal changes. My body will protest, and it's ugly.

She's not just looking at it; she's interacting with it…I’m seeing how the act of relating to a flower appears to be so simple. Yet, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make such a “simple” act important. Now, the lotus is floating away.”

You know, hands-on oil method.

Instead of pulling out just in time- which can lead to a mistake and not only that, messes up the male orgasm, it is better to pull out early on the build up, relax and my hands do the rest with oil, for a good quality male orgasm.

I think I was on an estrogen based birth control for about 2-3 years before I said no more crap in my body. It was ortho-tricyclin lo something like that.
