Since starting my relationship, I've had to deal with constantly bein
g called beautiful. I say "deal with" because it makes me very uncomfortable due to many years of emotional abuse in childhood.

So with that I'd like us women to share what we love best about appearance. I encourage all women to share,

My most favorite thing about me are my eyes. I have very beautiful slanted "asian like"eyes and always try to accentuate them whenever I want to feel pretty

I have very full lips which is common with most black women, however I struggle with my nose which doesn't have a bridge and is wide and flat. Its gotten better now at one point I wanted to have surgery, I've noticed quite a few black female celebs get a nose job to create the effect of a more European nose. Notably Lil kim, Keyshia Cole, Alicia Keys and Kelly Rowland. It's speculated that Beyonce has done this too.

I don't like my nose but I have great eyes and lips, 2 out of 3 ain't bad

I also love my legs. They are thick, smooth and soft. I have a scar on my right knee and it reminds me of a time where I hit rock bottom in my life (thats because it's when I actually hurt me knee and got stiches) it also reminds me of how far I've come. Scars can also be beautiful.

Lastly I love my smile, I have nice teeth, not movie star teeth but most movie stars don't even have their real teeth anyway. My smile brightens up my whole face, I often smile even when I don't want to.

So now, ladies, what do you find beautiful about you? What do you celebrate about you? What are the great and not so great things?

Looking forward to comments

nice to hear about you ees...as for me i consider beauty to be skin deep..the beauty of the inner soul is what accentuates our outer beauty.
Thats why they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder..I would rather want to be considered as a woman of substance.
Yes i dont find anybody ugly..everybody has a distinct essence of beauty! or a quality to admire!
And yes looks wise I think our state of happiness reflects our beauty! There is no cosmetic for beauty like happiness.
well that was my take..i dont think so i can describe my features..I am what I am.

Beauty is an ecstasy; it is as simple as hunger. There is really nothing to be said about it. It is like the perfume of a rose: you can smell it and that is all.
~William Somerset Maugham

I've never seen a smiling face that was not beautiful.
~Author Unknown
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
~Kahlil Gibran

Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts. ~Martin Buxbaum

It is amazing how complete is the delusion that beauty is goodness.
~Leo Tolstoy

Or are you beautiful because I love you?
~Richard Rodgers

I hope you have lost your good looks, for while they last any fool can adore you, and the adoration of fools is bad for the soul. No, give me a ruined complexion and a lost figure and sixteen chins on a farmyard of Crow's feet and an obvious wig. Then you shall see me coming out strong.
~George Bernard Shaw, to Mrs. Patrick Campbell

Uh oh.. I'm a leo asc with a 5th house sun..

Just a warning, I have a hard time writing normal things. I got carried away and wanted to delete some but figured whatever so.. *shrugs*

I think vanity is a soul issue to one degree that I've maybe come more to terms with recently (my hair started coming out a lot, but it's returning, and I'm aging fast).

There was one quote that I liked that any woman can make herself look beautiful.

I've always kind of liked my curves though. My waist is small and I like the fact that I've escaped being top heavy. People have said that they like my eyes and feel like I'm looking through them when I'm looking at them. I have a very hard time making normal eye contact and either look too briefly or too long. I always liked that (only pluto and saturn in scorp). I like it when I can wear bangs down the side of my face that sort of accent my lips with glasses and it makes me feel classy and elegant. People also used to tell me I moved beautifully, dignified, and with purpose, until I trip over something which happens all the time .

I also really love my expressions, that I can't hide what I'm feeling. My face is very expressive. I like feeling how I can communicate the entirety of my being through so many different subtle nuances in my voice and intonation and my perspective. Even my goodwill clothing and style has it's unique emphasis on my personality displaying my religious and politcal ideologies with a medium lacking in words that communicates the integrities and disparities of my being. I also like that I can feel like I'm trying on various personas and modes of being through the clothes I chose to wear, and there is some variance there. This is so dramatic and leo asc of me, but I like to wear personas that are part of me and play them out creatively in all aspects of my appearance. Sometimes that's being very childlike, sometimes very stern, sometimes wounded, sometimes cold, sometimes loving. It's very nice and to me feeling those waves of being and expressing them creatively is very beautiful.

I really like it when people find me to be deep in a way that they are attracted to. I think there is beauty in perspectives. I'm the kind of person who will look at a homeless person and find the beauty of god in them somehow though. Sometimes it gets immense and you start seeing god in everything and it can become overwhelming. Everything becomes so beautiful and you can't help but be captivated by the moment. Then everything fades back into gray and it loses all of it's meaning and is clouded by apathy. I find that beautiful too somehow.

When I go on such tangents, I forget how it is that I'm extremely insecure. My leo asc doesn't get a lot of play time. Thanks for letting me get it out

i got my daddies nose....the end, LOL...its pretty but slightly on the manly side i think...just slightly

i like my legs if i'm wearing pants...they just make them look different, even if the shape doesnt change like skinny jeans do to fat on the thighs

i hate my feet...they'r really small with tiny, stubby toes....they were called pig feet once, LOL....well, i dont really hate them, i just dont like showing them off

i dont like my belly...it looks like a donut, and i'm not that much overweight so the fact that i'm short just makes the donut look bigger

i dont like my hair...its really pretty, but its so thick and really fine at the same time that its hard to do anything with...and considering i was never the type of girl to be really into cosmetics and stuff i dont know any kinds of hair styles anyways, lol...so i just keep it down...and its wavy so it looks the best down

I'm often complimented on my eyes and my smile, and my smile seems to make others smile as well.

I guess what I like most is muscle tone. Ever since my late teens I've had good to excellent muscle tone (though I wish I was more curvy). Yet I'm a little self conscious now because (after years of weight training) my arms actually starting to get muscular, which I understand many don't like. Some do and some don't.

I can't do much with my hair so I tend to use a lot of clips, headbands, bandannas, and a beret. I used to wear it short and I'm thinking of doing that again. But however I feel about my hair, others seems to prefer that I wear it long and feel that with my athletic body I look too tomboyish with short hair.

Mainly I like to wear clothes for a look rather than enhance any of my features. Fancy belts, decorated footwear and coveralls, and the like. Sometimes I'll wear something that can share something about me with strangers, but I find I also enjoy irony that can lead to a false impression.

I am not comfortable being complimented on my looks.
I prefer being seen for my mind first not my body.
I always felt ugly or like a freak.
I was born hunchbacked and clubfooted and wore foot/leg braces for a long time.
Until contact lenses, my glasses were 3/4 inch thick.
I also grew facial hair beginning at age 8.
So growing up, yeah a little kid with funny legs and feet, hump on back, thick glasses, huge boobs that young, stuttered, all second hand clothes, duct taped shoes, facial hair,
clumsy, nerdy, well.....I felt like a freak.
In fact my initials gave much fodder for even more teasing.
BFW
Big Fat Witch
Read hair and green eyes and ratty clothing did not help.
BFW
Big Fat Warthog
Yeah when fat....200 pound 4'9"
after I ate myself into a fat sheild after being raped abused and sodomized and beaten bloody too many times.
Then I crashed off weight and became anorexic bullemic for awhile.
The guys who could not get in my pants called me bad names and spread lies about me like...
BFW
Big Fucqing Wh0re

Men chased me when I was thin, and I was raped again a few times.
I came to hate men looking at me with desire.

So it has not been easy accepting my appearances at any age.

I am only in the past year coming to terms with my looks, especially being female.
Even giving birth did not help me feel like a female.
Being raped as a child messed my head up more
about being desired as a female.
And later when I was thin and desired even against my will.

I like my muscles a lot , but not my fat.

Slowly starting to accept that being heavy does not mean I am ugly.
Nor does being old enough to be mother or eeeeeks....grandmother to many here at LL
make me too old or unattractive.

I like my hair even though it is not as nice as it used to be.

I like my green gold eyes.
I like my tiny mouth.
When thinner I feel I have a very sexy butt!
I am very cuddly huggable.

I like that I have been told in real life by many people, that I carry myself no matter what size, with a regal bearing.
I have been told I have a very compassionate but very sad face.
People tend to become at ease with me very fast.
Strangers of any ages and genders have asked me for hugs and oddly, blessings.
I attract folks without meaning to do so.
Even little kids.
So I must be doing something "right"?

I do not know what else to say.

I think ALL people are equal, and equally human.

And that's what I think is beautiful about all of us--our uniqueness.

I am beautiful because I look exactly like myself. For someone who loves me, that's about as beautiful as anyone can get.

Well, thats what I'm trying to celebrate here. For women to express what they love and what they may not like so much so we can share a common ground and up lift each other. I don't doubt you are beautiful as the definition of beauty surpasses looks, however how you feel when you look in the mirror plays a big role in self worth and sometimes it is healing to talk about our insecurities. Lots of time we start to realize we were insecure for nothing because every woman gets this way.

Sorry you don't completely understand where I'm coming from. Thank you for sharing
