Yes, this Forum is for adults (18 and older), but that simply means we tackle adult-themed topics like suicide, abuse, and even sexual astrology; it doesn't mean that decorum won't still apply. I feel like a few strings have crossed that line, but it's a tough call, because I don't want to restrict freedom of expression. But I wouldn't want anything on here that Linda would find in utter distaste, and believe me, Linda had a wide latitude in her views. This Forum isn't here to stir up disgust; nor is it here to be controversial. It's just a Forum for the discusion of issues that normally only (or should only) face adults. It is not the "adult room" as some may have implied--meaning the sex room. Sexual topics can be discussed here, but only in a mature fashion. ------------------ "To avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing." Aristotle IP: Logged |

Risque isn't even the word for the incest string. Mature topics is a better definitive term for this Forum. But like the woman for whom this site represents, everything should be in good taste. You're welcome, Lala. ------------------ "To avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing." Aristotle IP: Logged |

I believe everyone took that forum the wrong way I think it was meant for two adults consenting not involving children but usually the word incest involves that unfortunately and it is disturbing ....IP: Logged |

If it had been kept to concerning the historical and various cultural reasons, that would be different. In the Bible, much incest is condoned, and in Ancient cultures such as Egypt, Hawaii, and so forth. However usually brother and sister, and not forced or merely for sexual jollies. Isis was the sister and wife of Osiris Abraham and Sarah in the Bible Old Testament were brother and sister. However this would not be a Sweet Peas topic but a history/myth topic.

Yes in my fathers culture it is "normal " or common to marry a relative usually someone you did not grow up with it isn't forced but more of thing so your family grows into the thousands and there are literally tribes ! now i'm not into that at all. I don't think incest would be correct word usually incest implies that there is a victim someone is being forced something is really wrong ....maybe the wording could of been different people should feel comfortable enough to be able to come here and openly talk about being a victim for support but to turn is it okay to have intercourse with younger relatives is peverse so I agree with you Randall and lexx..IP: Logged |

I agree with what Lexx said and also saraintheski. I can only speak for myself but I saw/thought it was a thread on consensual acts. The opening line was about royalty keeping the bloodlines pure which suggested to me it was about marriage and not abuse of children. I have close friends that have been abused by family adults when they were children so I do have some understanding. I was trauma buddy to one of those for the time she told her mother - which was many years later. I was the one that held her up when her family went into denial. But they are two separate issues. I went to the dictionary for definition and clarity - it's intercourse between too people too closely related to marry. No mention of abuse. Emotions can run high for many reasons which is more than understandable. It's good that the thread was closed because it had strayed off course. I think that it's too difficult to manage when it evokes responses that need dealing with in their own right and by that I mean the people who have suffered abuse. Kept "in context" I believe the subject can be explored (just maybe not here) and as Lexx pointed out there were many god/goddesses that were related. Many of these mythic couples are the same ones everyone bangs on about in the soul mate threads...I'm not sure what I want/mean to say about that. The fact they were related is often overlooked or dismissed. It's like it's okay to glorify them on one hand but the facts are left out of the picture? But yes, expression most definitely has its limits in a public forum. IP: Logged |

dysfunctionalmystic, very well said. Also I agree with you here: quote: But yes, expression most definitely has its limits in a public forum.
That`s why Lindaland or any large public forum can`t be self moderated as some have suggested. The thread started out on a fine note but with lack of direction it went down the drain quickly. This is NOT any disrespect to the mods here (and I know SunChild is on LOA and lexx is still under the weather ) but that`s how quick it can turn so we all need to be good stewards and remember who this site represents ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. Well, since I am doing about 30 charts at one time, if anyone wants me to check out something in Sweet Peas just call my attention to it by email or writing on one of my threads. It is not like I am not here all the time and one could easily access me. Yes I am still under the weather but am usually looking in every day several times even if not posting, and do keep in contact with Randall. I usually consult with him if things look like they are getting offtrack or out of line.
