Why is this seen as so gross? Maybe its my Venus in Aquarius? but an ex had hairy armpits & tbh it didn't bother me at all. Men can have a whole wild underarm bush growing but if a woman has even a shadow of hair..Its "OMG how disgusting." IP: Logged |

It's seems like a matter of preference. And double standards are culturally conditioned. Men and woman are equals and should throw gender norms or conventions right out the window. I choose to shave for convenience. I don't think it's gross not to shave, it's just making a choice. As long as armpit hair doesn't get in the way of maintaining hygiene, it honestly doesn't phase me. In the winter I barely shave my legs and I haven't had any complaints and if I did they'd be out the door... I'd date a man that looked like a hairy animal, as long as he maintained good hygiene. A non shaver here. And yeah, I grow a beard and mustache too. I do not give a hoot about body hair but good hygiene I do. Natural men, women, and androgynes, cool by me! I had a chuckle while reading through the responses. I personally prefer to shave for hygiene reasons though not obsessed with it (i.e. if it's only a fuzz, I won't shave). I also agree that at least in men this wild bush under their arms is not appealing esp. in summer time -unless they shower at least twice per day. If you can't shower that often then, spare me. My nose will thank you. IP: Logged |

Well I have personally noticed more shaver folks stinking more often than non shaver folks. The shavers often seem to slather on the antiperspirants and all thinking they are not going to be stinky. And load their head hair down with more stinky conditioners and hair gels etc. Gross. Ewwwww the smell (and taste) of such is uber gross. Give me a nice clean Chewbacca male/female who bathes a few times a day, instead of stinky goo covered shaver person(s). Hairy folks are often more fastidious about hygiene in my view. They bathe more and do not rely on smearing goos all over in lieu of bathing.I meant no offense to shaver folks. The above is simply my observations personally.

I have a very fine growth of hair on my arms and legs and I don't go about shaving them all the freaking time because too much shaving irritates the skin. I prefer to wax them off. Same with my underarms. I have vowed to never shave only wax. I have fine hair there too but I wax for hygiene sakes, not when there's just a bit of fuzz.------------------ “S|_UT ” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “YES”. “FRIENDZONE” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “NO”. I mainly mean, wash the pits and groin and bum more than once a day rather than just smearing products all over. Not whole body bathe unless one has been doing really dirty work. And changing clothes especially undies every day, even more than once a day, sure helps!

I agree that too much perfume and various smelly "paraphernalia" are yucky. I prefer the fresh smell of a clean skin. Hair or no, doesn't matter unless it interferes with hygiene or aesthetics.IP: Logged |

The amount of hair has nothing to do with hygiene. Washing does.I would probably be one of those natural unshaved chicks if it wasn't a complete turn off for my lover.......

I do it for HIM.I actually rememember my first shave. My mum did it for me when I was 15 or so, because I played basketball and I got teased for hairy armpits, I got upset so my mum taught me how to shave. I've always shaved to be 'socially acceptable'... Personally? I couldn't care less. IP: Logged |

Yes I agree. I will add that It's definitely the bathroom products that makes your shower time toxic or not, or strips the skin of natural oils. any supermarket brands are bad news for the skin. For me I often shower twice and use gentle natural soaps just for sweaty areas and I never use soap on general skin or face. My skin has always been good, soft and supple now matter how often I shower.

I love freshly clean body smells. Even when sweating, if recently clean, oh my how lovely that can be! Like my chiropractor, uses nothing but bathes every day, yet even after hours of working on folks, when we hug, (yes, we hug lots, its a complicated story) oh my what a lovely natural scent he has on hair and neck! I only shave to be socially acceptable. I've overhead women gossiping about other women who don't shave and they're sooo cruel and catty over something so insignificant. IMO Shaving is waste of my time and Mother Nature probably gave us armpit hair for a reason.

I shave, I guess because I've gotten acclimated to the habit. But I really lose respect for people (male or female) who act as if it's the most disgusting thing they ever saw if a woman has unshaven pits. IP: Logged |

I really hate all of those societal rules that dictate things like how women need to shave, etc... If having natural pits makes you happy then don't shave. If bitches are gonna gossip about your hairy pits they're just gonna find something else to gossip about once you shave 'em. IP: Logged |

Ick... Sorry but I am a girly girl, not to mention I am American Indian so I don't have much hair (thank goodness). Culturally we always shaved what hair showed (men and women). I wax and shave, I don't like any hair with the exception of the very fine hair I have on my arms and my long, dark hair on my head. Hair breeds more sweat, sweat is a breeding ground for bacteria and bacteria equals smell. I don't mind natural but I do mind pungent disgusting icky smells. I shower and wash my hair every day, even though some say it is wrong. I have no idea why they say it is bad for the skin when I have very soft skin, I look 10 years younger than I am and my hair is never dry or oily. Hmmm.... I guess it all depends on the person.
