I often see and hear it being thrown around casually. I've always believed that the mis-use of love breaks it down, and I'm starting to see how the mis-use of the word hate strengthens it.

Whenever I hear someone say, "I love those shoes!", I can't help but wonder, "Really? Shoes? Love, to you, has manifested itself in your life as... shoes." No wonder the world has become so materialistic...

HATE is a strong word. I associate HATE with EVIL. Evil begets hate. Hate begets evil. We become the things we hate when we give unwarranted amounts of anger towards trivial, temporal issues. I often read people say that they hate such and such person for being bad or atrocious. And in turn, they become as atrocious themselves by saying that they wish evil to happen to such person.

Evil is when a man cheats on his wife. Evil is when a man rapes a child. Evil is when a child dies because of heartless parents. Evil is not a light thing, and wishing it upon another is just as evil as hate itself. It destroys souls - yours and theirs together. To hate someone is to hate your own divine light.

Please stop using the word hate. Indifference and acceptance is the true way to justice and peace. You cannot change people, but you can create change by doing it within your heart.

Being able to recognize love in all its forms is perhaps quite important...

Just taking your example as a reference, the person who created/designed the shoes may have loved doing so, and put their heart into it. So someone coming along and going wow! "I love those shoes!", could be in a sense a compliment/recognition of the love involved in their creation

A step towards loving anything, is a step towards loving someone...

This is very true. I hadn't thought of that. Love of design and art is something I associate with. I just often see it decompose into a love of material possession rather than the beauty of its creation and existence.

Such can very well be the case, and yet our sentient consciousness is quite in love with being able to possess a material body

Quite the paradox :brain explodes:

Lei Kui VERY well stated!

I love my kids, my kitties, myboyfriend, a sunset...the same, just expressed in different ways..

Love is love, it can not be quantified.

Now Hate is not a part of my vocabulary..a very, very negative word that will most certainly bring negativity.

It is often said that "fear" is the opposite of love...so what would the opposite of hate be?

I have a very strong feeling that the opposite of love is not hate - it's apathy. It's not giving a damn.

Hate returns to the sender, and it often manifests in physical illness.

yes, i think hate was the reason for my mother's cancer, which she is now in the process of recovering.

she was a health freak and only ate/used organic products and cared about microwaves and all that stuff (...i don't know what they are... ).

my guy has been a heavy smoker since he was a kid. after decades, he finally got a lung exam and the doctor said his lungs are clean, without any sign of deterioration. he also hates vegetables, but is a vegetarian so he lives on coffee and pizza. he lived a free anarchistic bohemian life making music for most part of his adulthood without much stress.

however my mother, due to her psychological disorder, has always been filled with immense hate and grudge. the level of her hate was astonishing. she would still remember incidents decades earlier as if it happened yesterday. she used words like death and hate and grudge and anger every minute of her life. my life was miserable with her, and i ran away as soon as i was old enough. she hated everyone and did not trust anyone. now she doesn't trust me either and she has isolated herself.

and now she's moaning why, despite she cared for her health all those years, got a colon cancer. now she hates on fate which is unfair.

it's hate, and also the stress that comes with it. hating is really, really stressful.

holy.....leichen....i think we had the same mother.

& from my experience hate does not always return to the sender. I've had much hate directed at me (only from a couple of people online here). Maybe eventually it does always go back to the sender. If true, one woman in particular here has it coming tenfold. Scary lady.

Don't waste your time or thought energy on immature and negative people. I try not to.

Life is too short & most people arent worth it.

it took me a long time but i am now at peace (...more or less ). the fact that she is absent in my life actually helped. i've resolved much hate and confusion regarding her, and now i am thankful that she "disowned" me so that i am free.

i do miss her as a mother though. but as long as i am love and my love is more than her hate, i believe in the day i see her again.

Wow, i couldve written that myself. My situation is similar and yes, sometimes it's best not to have the person a part of your life even if they are your mother, unfortunately.

Hope your relationship is able to someday get better. I think mine will have to wait for another lifetime....or two.. lol

I`ve always believed this. I know when I`m feeling a grudge towards someone, my health seems off kilter.

I have a huge gripe with people that use the word hater...as in "stop hating on me" or "you're just hating". This is never said to me...it's what I see written a lot. I was actually gonna write an article called "Hating the hater haters" but never got around to it.
