Personally I usually love it.
Some folks may find long hair on us old folks as gross.

Random folks some consider too old for long hair.

I don't see what the problem is. Then again, I don't think people should pay much mind to what ~*society*~ thinks is acceptable as far as appearance. I'm very live-and-let-live.

(Oh, and you KNOW Demi is rocking extensions. Nevertheless, she did shave her head for G.I. Jane, so I say "Go on girlfriend" to her.)

I have almost shaved my head whilst in a depressed state.
I opted to just shave off my eyebrows though.

I actually like the look of long hair, on younger and older folks, especially on women! I don't care one bit how someone rocks their hair, it's their head after all. As long as no one's hair falls into my food, I'll be happy lol.

Me, at age 56,

And from 4 years ago or so, and 100 pounds heavier.....

Sigh.....
now 57,
the white is coming in faster and it is getting thinner.
So maybe I will trim it to waist length and just let it go white.
I am not into dye jobs.
I hate getting old but what other alternatives are there?

Coming up on 50 in March~

I have NO intention of cutting mine, ever..took me too long to get it this long!!!

I had a goal, to my butt by my 50th birthday, but made it there a long time ago.

I get it hi-lighted regularlly, trimmed, etc. and had 2 inches cut off in 2 consecutive months...

My plan for my elder years? Let it grey, naturally, a long braid or the lovely bun!!!

My mother, in the past has tried to tell me to dress appropriately for my age, (momoos I suppose), but people guess me for early 30's, a momoo would certainly age me!

Be who you are, to hell with the opinions, often unwanted of others...

i don't have an opinion about old men with long hair (never seen one in person that i recall), but i ADORE long hair on older women.

it's just, when women grow old, many of them start wearing pants with elastic and have their hair short and curly. it's easier i guess?

i just absolutely loved it when my grandma had long hair, when she was actually too ill to go get a cut. she looked much more feminine and cute than ever.

also, not a very famous film but in this film The Whales of August with old Hollywood glories (Lillian Gish, Bette Davis, Ann Sothern, Vincent Price and more), there are scenes old Lillian Gish and Bette Davis as sisters do their long while hairs... beautiful!

LEXX, personally i really love white hair and well-maintained grey too. as a child, i always hoped that when i'm an oldie i have pure white hair. it's unlikely since it's proven genetically that women in my family don't even go grey and keep black hair...

i don't like died hair on older people (unless it's pink or purple or something funky! ). my guy is growing grey hair pre-maturely due to excessive stress, and he dyes it. understandable, but i don't really buy it.

I think long hair is cool. I know some people, like my Aunt, who is a real, proper fashion kind of person, thinks it is awful. I like it, though. Your style is your own personal expression. Sing your own tune

Hey LEXX and anyone else with reaaaaally long hair -- question for you! Do you feel like your hair is a kind of security blanket? Whenever I watch What Not To Wear (even though I have issues with "fashion" and people having to follow rules when it comes to dressing) the ladies with super long hair nearly have a panic attack when the scissors come out. Would you freak out if someone cut off most of your length? I started losing my hair when I was 16, so I learned pretty early on not to get attached to it.

Gods yes LOL!
I would be like Samson and Delilah.
Kidding
But yeah, I would feel naked without it and well common looking, no uniqueness.
I hate it when folks come up, yank it so hard that I nearly fall over,
yelling at me how disgusting and selfish I must be,
because there are bald little cancer victims who need my hair.
Well geez, I lost my hair too as a child due to severe illness.
So I paid my dues and did just fine until it grew back.
Oddly, the ones who abuse me that way,
are short haired women who have never had long hair for themselves or to give away.

PS.
Hair haters have tossed or squished gum, feces, you name it,
into my hair.
Perfect strangers no less,
and in public.

PPS.
If someone tried to cut my hair by force.....
well they better have a death wish because I would fight them without restraint,
as I have done to any kind of "rapist"

LOL!
Always have!
LOL!
Being born intersex,
well,
when I leave my beard and mustache.....
I get some weird, but strangely usually accepting reaction more often than bad ones from folks.
Odd that "women" with heavy facial hair is easier accepted than long hair by other women.

I fight better than a drag queen.
Oh my the last guy who tried to rape me sexually,
the football captain......
I fought him so hard that the next day at school he showed up with his arm in a cast, two black eyes, limping, scratches all over, and bites on his face and hands, walking funny too where I gave him what for in the boy bits.......
As he passed me on the stairs,
another guy asked him;
holy shite! Wtf happened to you?!"
He replied pointing at me whilst trembling,
"she did".
From then on I got lots of respect from the football team.

PS.
I officially trained them in how to fall/roll/get running, and tackling.
I would have played but "girls" were not allowed back in the Neanderthal days.

I have longish hair, it reaches down to my shoulders, but usually I keep it tied up.

Its getting a bit grey now, sometimes I want to shave it all off but that's partly my vanity for wishing not to age so soon

In my work its ok to have long hair.. so I dunno, I'll probably just let it roll.

But on other people it can be good.
A friend of mine is in her 60's, she has long grey hair & if anything it only makes her more beautiful.

Personally, I love it when folks march to the beat of their own drummer and don't mind what anyone else thinks of how they look. The long hair in the photos is beautiful.

I once met a doctor from an isolated mountain village, an older woman with white braids down to her knees. I so wanted braids like that! Alas, I recently had to cut mine from waist length to shoulder, as it was just too fragile to keep up.
