Same here except what emanates from some people's eyes is kind of painful...or draining...or unnerving to look at. Also, staring intensely or constantly without causally looking away for a moment or two, can be a bit creepy. lol
Someone who's gaze is locked on and will not turn away can be just as uncomfortable in certain situations. When two people are comfortable with each other, it's usually not that hard to make eye contact at the appropriate times...for whatever length it may be.

I believe its proper and human to make eye contact. like a manner of respect given and taken both ways . ------------------ "We'll go because it's Thursday,"he said,"and we'll go to wish everybody a Very Happy Thursday.Come on,Piglet" A. A. Milne IP: Logged |

Oh the shy looking away, or pause in the eyeslock is fine. It is the refusal or inability to look at all, that brings out my suspicions and instant distrust of the non eyelocker person.------------------ NumeroLexigrams ~I remember, therefore I am immortal ~Lexxigramer IP: Logged |

Oh, that would annoy me, too! I also don't like someone just answering their phone, when you're talking to them. A family member does that, and then calls out, "don't go away!" as I walk off. She complains when I walk around when she's talking to me. IP: Logged |

That would be an exception...like some Asian cultures, for instance.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

I can handle eye-contact for few seconds, but after a while I get uncomfortable, specially when the other person is not blinking and we are seated really close face-to-face and I'm doing the talking. I normally would place my hand near my face, under the chin, touching the chin, just touching my own cheek etc, but I'd try to hide my face. I don't know why!------------------ Pity from an Aries is worse than their contempt \m/ www.lenormanddraws.blogspot.com IP: Logged |

They begin fiddling their fingers or their eyes start darting all over place. Others look intimidated. I understand there are times when people are shy to look you in the eye when they like you or they know they did something bad. Those who feel uncomfortable in general; does it have something to do with low self esteem?
Posted at 6 ......5........4.... Yeah. Until you meet someone like me. lol. I have never met anyone who could look me in the eyes longer than eye. I mean, It would be interesting if I did but most people can't do it. It is like they are staring into the sun or something. I have to make a conscious effort to not look too hard into peoples eyes because it makes them feel......."uncomfortable". I once looked a girl I was with directly into the eyes while we were on the bed. She lost her breathe and said, "Oh My God,what just happened". It is like she just almost drowned. lol. IP: Logged |

I think reluctance to look in someone's eyes is fear of being seen which we all have to one degree or another.------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

I have yet to meet anyone who can hold the eyelocks. Apparently we who do are a very rare type.------------------ NumeroLexigrams ~I remember, therefore I am immortal ~Lexxigramer IP: Logged |

I have an issue with eye contact, mostly because my mother used it as a tool to intimidate me as a child. Eye contact for me is either a sign of respect or an attempt to convey an extra meaning to my words or what I am doing without having to put it to words. Too much is spoken through my eyes, while I may have nothing to hide, I don't like being an open book either. ------------------ Felines and dames in flames Will hardly serve my aims But in my dreams, it seems That my eyes are always shooting laser beams IP: Logged |

I have a hard time with extended eye-contact even if you are my best friend. I'm probably a more honest person than most and likely to tell you about anything since I'm a pretty open book so it's not because I'm hiding anything. It just makes me uncomfortable. I have to make a conscious effort to do it since it's 'socially expected'.If people didn't want to be friends with me because of that... *shrug*
