haha y'all are misunderstanding me,I'm saying that I try to get an idea of what they like so I can plan something we both would like, nobody tells me what to do.IP: Logged |

Not healthy, dude. If you let them into your life, you're going to have to give up that tight control because they *will* tell you what to do and they *will* eventually run your life, whether you like it or not. Even if you are a Southerner, don't delude yourself into thinking that you'll wear the pants in the house. The "it's my life" thing will get you single very quickly. IP: Logged |

To clarify, I don't mean the "Will he sit where I want him to sit?!?"-esque BS, but the "How does he treat people?" observational stuff. That just seems like common sense to me. If a person can't, say, bring his- or herself to treat a service person with a modicum of respect and decorum or hold the door open for someone following directly behind, it speaks volumes. If you watch, small, seemingly insignificant actions write the letters of a personality large enough to easily see. I don't think I'm bright enough to think up any test more elaborate than simply living

Personally, I hate Sex and the City. I've never been interested in Desperate Housewives or Grey's Anatomy, either. I know, I probably just committed some kind blasphemy there, but it's true. I like darker, more broody shows (Venus in Scorpio). Nothing too gory, though.
I don't like watching football, but I'd be OK with baseball or open-wheel racing. Just not in person. I don't like sporting events in person. I like the comfort of my own home.
Separateness is important. So is connectedness. Best to have both in the right amounts, and with good solid communication.
Plus, on the self-interest side, if you give a person freedom, you get to have that same freedom, too. If you give your guy nights out with the boys, sans yourself, you yourself are entitled to nights out with friends, too, in which he is not included. He gets to do his thing, you get to do yours. Whatever you allow him to do, you allow yourself to do too. He doesn't have the right to complain and would lose an argument when you pointed this out. More freedom given = more freedom received. Now, that said, there should be some mutual rules (like neither person being allowed to cheat), but on benign things, I think that, as long as there is still togetherness and needs are being met in that area, it's not only fair but healthy to spend time alone with your friends and not have to spend every second with your spouse. And this comes from a person who really needs a lot of security and connectedness to feel close to people: even I need my alone time.
Now, I'd be worried if someone never wanted to spend time with me or talk to me (I do worry a LOT about that with people), and that would depress me, but simple alone time/friend-time now and then, in the right doses, is healthy for both people.
It's all about proportion, really.

lmao I'm picturing the character Aquaman (as in the comic book character) like in this giant rage and throwing designer shoes across the room or something (shoes being a very big thing apparently on "Sex and the City"). Or like doing Guile (from Street Fighter)'s sonic boom from on shopping bags. and lol @ YTA's comment about no trash allowed hahaha Sad thing is that shows like that stay on the air forever but shows that I like often get cancelled after one season even though they're good One idea, though: you COULD just go the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" route and make fun of the show while watching it IP: Logged |

Good shows don't always get canceled after one season, Platero. Often they do, but not always. I don't really test at all. But I do see if someone loses their cool or gets crazy if I I won't let them talk to me nonstop. That's a dealbreaker for me. IP: Logged |

The idea of 'testing' men seems ridiculous to me. Real life throws enough 'tests' at everyone. How we all react to real life and to each other tells me whatever I need to know about a man I'm interested in.

ME TOO! And am sooo glad that it wasn't cancelled! There are a few longer-running shows that I like, but it's just a tendency in general that my favorite shows get canceled quickly. Twin Peaks, My So-Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, etc. IP: Logged |

Same thing happens to me! It's like a break-up without any closure. Very happy it was renewed Can't wait for season 2 IP: Logged |

Loved Freaks and Geeks. Lots of stars came from it. Another one is Jericho (although demand brought it back briefly). And First Wave. And V. And Terra Nova. Secret Circle.IP: Logged |
