Actually, never mind - unless anyone wants to share about their own experiences. IP: Logged |

I have been in therapy on and off my whole life. The most I went was when I was 13 and 14, then again when I was 17, and now that I'm 23. From 13-17 it was really pointless for me to go - I was just being a kid and my mom didn't understand that. She flat out told me she put me in therapy because she thought I "needed someone else to vent to." Gee, I wonder what the underlying message is there... sorry. A bit bitter on my end (maybe I'll tell my therapist, lol.) I went to therapy again this time to actually deal with a family event that happened. Again, it didn't help much. I am beginning to think therapy only benefits those with severe psychological disorders or for couples/group therapy. I consider myself very self-aware and am pretty balanced about my feelings. To explain them to someone only to have them paraphrase it back to me doesn't make a difference. Then again maybe I just haven't found the right therapist. IP: Logged |
