Isn't it so sweet when little kids really like each other?

Last night I was putting my four year-old Cancer son to bed, and he was asking about his friend Abby, who lives near our summer house. I told him he had to wait to see her again. Then we had this exchange:

Him: "But can't you get me another one?"

Me: "Nope, sorry, there's only one Abby."

Him (confused): "Oh...did everybody steal them all?"

Me, after laughing: "No, there's just one. ONE Abby, we'll see her in a few months."

Him: "You know what would be so nice? Sleeping with her in my bed with me."

^^^ Scorpio moon

Me: "Uhhhhhhh no, sorry you can't sleep with her."

Him: "WHY? I really want to!"

Me: "Long story, you just can't."

Him: "Well I'm going to marry her."

Me: "Okay."

It would be so cute if they did get married!

I wonder if there have been any studies done to show that couples who've known each other since childhood are more likely to stay together?

It seems like this ideal, of kid love evolving naturally into mature love, strikes a deep chord with people...there are so many love stories and movies about children who fall in love and stay that way until adulthood: Wuthering Heights and Slumdog Millionaire come to mind. Also the Bollywood hit Parineeta.

Then there are the figure skaters Gordeeva and Grinkov

So...

I got a few questions for discussion...did you ever think you were going to marry your childhood crush or sweetheart? What do you think would have happened if you did? Does your current relationship bear any resemblance to your childhood relationships or preferences?

She wasn't supposed to do that, she was supposed to get all sentimental and say yes. What's this world coming to...

(Oh and I'm not being sarcastic I really wish she said yes.)

its funny that you mentioned that he said that he wanted to sleep with her because i told my mom the same thing about my childhood sweetheart lol and she was like"Um,NO!!!" also i gotta admit that when i crossed paths with that girl again my mind started thinking crazy things like"could this be fated?" because i honestly didnt think i would ever see her again.. and we were soo cute together as kids so i figured i had to give it a shot...

I had kindergarten love triangles. That's my earliest memory. Who I desire, desires someone else and who desires me I did not want.

awww! that's adorable, Faith!!! <3 (and I love the image! haha)

Doc has three girls in his class fighting for his attentions already... lol He's sweet on the one, lil Miss~ XD (Leo Ascendant, Tauro Venus, Libra Moon, has the ladies eatin' out of the palm of his hand already and he's only 5!) =x *scaredofValentinesDay* lmao

My mother called toddler love, "puppy-love". Although my memory is full of holes from that time period, I know there was one "neighbor-boy"... XD

Our parents were close, well, mothers... his biological father was a "bad man", motorcycle gang member, and abusive to him and his mother. I use to get mad and yell at the guy when he came around.... I didn't like when he took my friend away or yelled at his mother in the parking lot. >.<; *fearlessyouth* lol

He always said those "l"-words~ and always did such romantic/sweet things for me~ definitely puppy-loved me! haha
Only thing is, I don't remember actually having ever felt this mutually towards him. ^^; Then again, I was pretty oblivious to feelings anyway.

I was just a tomboy, and use to being among the fellas. But, he was totally adorable, still! He'd made his mother call us, just to say good night and good morning, even though they lived a few houses away! haha He made his mother phone us to ask me to marry him...

I remember looking at my mother as she gushed over the mushiness (I remember his mother chuckling in the background too), which made me roll my eyes, she was like, "aren't you going to answer him, he's waiting"? >.<; So that's the first time someone proposed to me, and the first time I said, very uncomfortably... "um... we'll see", because I really didn't get it...

they held that over our heads for years... GOSH! >.<;;;

Ma wasn't concerned with us sleeping together... we did, we were bathed together as well... she's got the pictures to prove it. ugh~

it was an innocent age~ (or supposed to be)

Then his mother had her second child, and the baby's father wanted them to get married and move away with him. He was a rich bloke (doctor), and a very good man, he had all older children who were moved out, (such was the age difference).

We tried to remain in touch over the years, our parents and us... We'd go see them when the blueberries were ready to harvest, and then we'd make muffins together in their massive kitchen... I remember his playroom was a spacious old bar room, the second in the house... they'd gone from having no toys/play things, to having an entire dump full... it was a mess (upset my lil Vrigo ascendant, guess you could say). >.<
The underground swimming pool, and the multiple garages, a tennis court... it was a lot to take in coming from where we did... I just hoped my friend wouldn't change...

When we got together we still played a lot,but there was always just so much to see and explore, I'm afraid my mind (with all that Sagittarius influence, no doubt about it), was geared toward adventure... not holding hands... They had lots of cats and dogs, the rec room, the study... I remember getting lost twice... My friend was the one who eventually found me... I kinda think he's the only one who noticed I was missing anyway. X____X (my mother, his mother - getting blitzed over wine... and girl-talk...)

His mother had his little sister next... we saw them only a few times after that. But, around Christmas they'd always send us cards... my friend never forgot my birthday either... then, she had the first set of twins... the good doctor was ecstatic for this... he was a truly great man, so I never disliked him for taking them away like I did when the biological father had come to take them. At least that's what I always maintained... they were safe and happy in their huge manor on the mountain. ^^ it was comforting, but bittersweet.

After that, I think we only received one or two more postcards/letters... after the second set of twins were born we didn't see or hear from them again.

Fast forward ahead though, when I was thirteen, by chance we'd bumped into each other at the one local shopping mall. O_O I could barely recognize either him or his mother... if it wasn't for his blue eyes and the way he held his head downward on an angle while the adults were talking... (just a quirk I'd come to recognize)... he'd have been a complete stranger to me. >.<; Our parents hugged and talked, only for a moment... he walked ahead some, I stayed back with our mothers... I think his mom called for him to come over, saying something embarrassing about his first love... (NOT what you do to a teenage boy if you really want him to come over! aye1?) You could see him turning pink in the cheeks and ears, then he sorta drifted off... (I wanted to do the same, no doubt about it.)

The weird thing is while he was a year younger than me (just barely a full year, though I can't remember his birthday anymore), he was exactly where I was in fashion/style/music/same tastes... lol Even though we hadn't spoken in years~ we were still the same... he'd dyed his hair black, I'd just stripped the black out of mine, he was wearing the same band t-shirt that I had at home, he was goin' through his "goth" phase... yeah... me too~ XD

It would have been nice to speak again... for the sake of friendship. But, awkward as all hell. So, I'm kinda cool with how things played out. I'll always have those lil' bits of good memories of the time we shared, (which are rare for me, the memories and having any of them be good, that is)... Right!? ^^

I think if something had sparked, ever... or that if circumstances were different... we'd have stuck together indefinitely... he's the only friend I had who would come find my lost arse when I'd wandered off too far... he was always the patient and quiet one, he'd let me go do whatever mischief I had in mind, sometimes he'd join me in it... and he'd even cover for me when we were naughty! XD It's too fanciful a thought though... I don't think he was left off easy after going through that phase (just a feeling)... he either ended up rebelling even further (as the eldest and only nonbiological son in a crowded home of half-siblings), or was corrected in his behavior by being shipped off to a boarding school... which I do remember someone mentioning once when we were little. I think his stepfather, since he was schooled abroad himself. I doubt I'll ever know. lol I'm sure I wouldn't have minded so much having his company throughout the years, but I'm certain sooner or later, we'd have gone our different paths. Certainly~

If I ever meet him again though, I don't think I'll just let him pass along without saying anything... I might just demand a game of marbles & cubes!!! XD (he'll know what it is!)

Sappy-soppiness! ^ eh? lol
I hope he's doing well wherever he ended up~ and hopefully back to his original blonde self, since the black dye was really making him look scary~

Oh and I just remembered Forrest Gump, too! How could I forget?

@T: I don't know if my son is an old soul or WHAT...but he's absolutely adorable (not to brag, of course.) The other day he came up to me and pressed his finger into my hip. Then I started walking and he followed, with his finger still on my hip. I said, "What are you doing?" He said, "My finger hurts so I'm keeping it on you." "Why???" I asked.

"Because that makes it feel better!!" he said.

@Swift & Lexx,

Ok! I'll watch Up. My kids saw it and loved it, but I haven't seen it yet.

@sand

That figures.

@Saturnine,

I loved your story!!! Any chance your friend is a Cap, since he was a year younger? He sounds like one.

I had two boy friends when I was really little. One of them lived down the street, his name is Andy. He was my best friend until I was about 7, then we moved to another town.

When I was a teenager I babysat for some kids across the street. One day one them said, "Do you remember a guy named Andy ______? Because he's our lifeguard at the pool. We told him about our babysitter and he said he knew you."

So it just figures, I had to take them to the pool one day. Just figures Andy is too cute to talk to...LOL I just tried to be invisible and hoped he didn't recognize me.

Then, when my father died in '07, Andy's mom came to the viewing, and she looked the exact same as ever. I was really shocked to see her there, but even weirder, she said that Andy had come, too..but he already left.

I guess we didn't even recognize each other enough to say Hi?

But how weird (in a nice way) that he even came.

Yes. I had this crush on a petite Asian porcelain doll of a girl. I bet I am prettier now actually. Ok I was. Saw her sometime several years ago. And she had a crush on my best friend who umm.. Would come to my house and pretend to perform oral on girls even if he didn't really know what it was. So funny! We were all cracking up about it. This was kinder. We were both rats. We have even yet to watch porn. He became a broody punk rocker. Then there was this giant redhead that chased me around literally because I was according to her "macho". Story of my life right there. She probably wasn't giant. Just American and therefore bigger than most girls here. I am also bigger than most people here. I wonder if she hot today.

This is how I remember her..

Sigh.......

I looked somewhat like that girl only fatter.
Got lots of teasing and called the big fat red haired freckle faced freak.
I hated it when I was forced to do the girly look like that.
It only made me look even more dumpy and silly.
Better off in my braids and boy wear.

awww Faith!!! <3

That's really awesome that both your old puppy-love and his mother came to pay their respects~ I'm always humbled when people I'd thought would have long since forgotten someone that had passed suddenly show up~ sometimes, I've even had them say (to me or someone else as I overheard it), something like, "they had a feeling something was amiss" so they came home or checked in on the local news/paper, and contacted someone just at that time... to me... with all the astro-influence, I'm sure.. ^^ I kinda feel those people are old connections brought into our lives again and again~ I like those ones best! (cause it means even when you lose touch with one another, you're bound to bump into each other again, if not i this one, than another life, or something! XD ! <3 I hope so anyway!

I think he was actually, (Capricorn-Rat, sounds about right).
Both of my earliest sorta *crushes* if you will, were Capricorns beside him... one when I was 7, and another when I was 13... (I don't really do that crushy-business often, only celebs, same as you, aye... haha) it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was born around the same time as them too~
I seem to have a thing for guys born just after me~ between the 15-17th.... all of the Caps I dated all the way until high school, were all born on one of those days. ^^; it's just a strange coincidence... I think...
