Imagine in 30-40 years Mars starts being colonized. They need different people to go there and you happen to be someone who would we useful. You are given an opportunity to go. You would have a comfortable and interesting life there. You could take your instant family with you but if they didn't want to join you, they would be financially supported by the government for x years. You could be in touch with Earth and your contribution to the mission would be globally known and appreciated. What do you do?

...now, if they come to find a way to reach one of the Kepler's (Kepler-62e would be my choice! haha) - that, I might consider. (People of Lyra be warned!) =X! ^^

Mars is just undesirable real estate to me. I mean "ew, who wants Earthlings for neighbors?" "location location location!" hahahaha

Maybe they need Volunteers.
To me that is such a worthy cause.
Not war against other humans, but discovering new frontiers.
I think the people who sacrifice their lives to go on that trip are amazing..

I wish I could volunteer, I totally would if they were going to accept people.
