I'm staying LA right now for an important internship and everywhere I go I see fake tans and fake teeth with fake hair. Everyone looks like Darbie and Ben.
Yeah I'm talking about those dollar store barbie dolls.

Plus most veneers I see looks really awful, like plastic horse teeth.

I don't understand why people find this attractive.
Everyone is so grimy.. personality wise.
So much shade...

The only tolerable people are tourists lmaao.

Can't wait till I go back home..
I hate LA with all my heart...
I want to cry... It's so horrible living here and it's only been 2 weeks.
I hear horror stories about living here.. Of course I thought I could easily handle it...

I feel the the overall energy here is like mars/venus gone wrong, it feels heavy.
Especially coming from a city with primarily air/mercury energy, it's so much more lighter and liberating.

I JUST read an opinion piece about an intern in Hollwyood about how interns were exploited at the very least by a former intern who worked Hollywood, and now I can't find it...anyway, you're probably being screwed anyway.

It sounds like you're in Hollywood, or maybe West LA, where to be accepted into the industry they want to be part of (and many industries around it) they have some insane rules to follow, like this (from here to about 60 seconds later):
http://youtu.be/PvSINjadDkk?t=1m12s

There's a lot of LA to hate, but for completely different reasons than where you're at now.

However, I enjoyed living a few months in Venice. 'Course that was over 10 years ago, and I've only passed through it couple of times since, and I don't ever want to move back.

Yup west hollywood -_-
Can you link me this piece?

This is a paid internship I spent my entire semester preparing for, it's a powerful and reputable company. Its in the tech industry, and they hired me based on my skills and talent, not really my looks, well.. yeah I'm too pale and ethnic LMAO I'm loling. Funny clip.

For LA standards I'm unattractive which is pretty hilarious experience. Someone actually told me I needed a tan.. I have NOO desire to assimilate with their nasty aesthetic.

Anyways I've worked in retail for 4 years, I'm sure I can bare being pushed around.

I'm just going to suck it up and bare it all for this summer and this experience will look good on my resume. After that I'm leaving this place and never returning.
I've visited LA many times but working and living here is a different experience.
Honestly I question why I switched my major, I was so much more happier being a starving artist.

I don't plan on getting married or finding someone to support me, that's my excuse for doing all of this, I think it's a pretty logical choice..

And Uranus/Neptune in the first. Feeling different, isolated, and disillusioned.

Well...focus on that Jupiter! Chart ruler, in Virgo (studies), and H9 (higher education). I'm sure that's a good, yeah?? Then run back to whence you came the moment you're finished!

Kero, it's weird I have an inexplicable dislike for LA even if I have never set foot in there before. I mean, after I pass my licensure, hopefully I'll be able to work in the US but when people ask me to go to LA, I'm like, no. Anywhere but there. -.- I'm not being judgmental or anything but my gut just says.. no. I have no idea why.

I actually hated Frisco the 6 months I lived there.

Partially it was because I moved in with some bad roomates, and there's a long story behind that, but they were total jerks that kept stealing my money for drugs and even when I hid it they'd rip through my things to try and find it and not even bother to hide the fact. It's why I eventually moved into a flop house in Oakland to save up money to move (and I went to Venice next which I liked better).

But the people were jerks, too, especially the business men. I could list many incidents but I don't have the patience for it, just that was THE WORST city for jerks I've ever been in! Way over the top!

I also met a Satanist who agreed with me on how uncivilized the city was and she was glad to be moving, too! (I LOVED how a Satanist said the people were too rude. )

It wasn't all bad, and I enjoyed Golden Gate Park (and also laughed when a dealer who tried to sell me pot did so while intentionally leaning against a sign that declared the park a drug free zone, and he was also one of the few nice people I met while I was there). But after I left I swore I'd never set foot back in the city or even pass through it.

It was about 8 years before I did, and only because it was the most convenient path back home AND I was hoping to catch the musical Wicked before it ended (but they were all sold out), and it was a nicer experience that time so I didn't regret it, but I'd never move there again.

LMAO All business men are jerks..
Their all douche bags.

Same in nyc.
Business men are even worse there.
Although some people can't the handle the city life.

It's a large city, not a small town. There are so many strangers you just have to ignore people. Sometimes I pretend people aren't around me and listen to music, it does get awkward when someone is asking me a question LOL

I don't really care about strangers to be honest, I've seen people get heart attacks downtown, just make sure the ambulance are coming, you feel bad for 10 minutes and continue with what you're doing.

The environment is undeniably nice, business men aside and their a lot of friendly people if you actually take part in your local community. There a strong sense of community in san fransico, most people really open you don't have to dress or act a certain way.

I really enjoy participating in the community garden. That was a great place to meet my neighbors, I met this sweet old Italian lady, that would invite us over for a meal every friday because I reminded her of one of her grandchildren. I really do miss her now..

I missed out on the nice atmo, so I do deny it. Let's see, first thing I did was try to check with the local neopagans, but the ones I ran into shocked me by being humor deprived and extremely politically correct and judgmental, I got a similar vibe off of them as I do East Texas fundies, not so much in the religious sense as the dogmatic, overbearing self-righteous sense. Plus, glares instead of laughs, unlike the neopagans in Jefferson who were a lot more laid back and quick to laugh in amusement (and I was led to believe that they were that way everywhere, though I have since learned of the dark side...)

I've ran into plenty more of that, from the homeless to the wealthy, who at best just tuned others out and often were happy to yell, honk their horns over trivial stuff, rude (one even slammed his fist on the hood of my car as he walked in front of me through a crosswalk), overbearing, selfish, etc. I remarked about it to someone saying I thought San Francisco was an open-minded, tolerant city and she laughed at my naivete.

And even those I became friends with...I laugh about it now but I got to know a perky goth and once after I gave her a ride she expected me to give her a ride everywhere just for the pleasure of her company (I'm so glad I didn't carry a phone with me...) And she had this one song she loved, she recorded it on a tape over and over and would then put it in my tape player. After countless repetitions of it and her ignoring my requests to at least play something else I popped it out and threw it under my seat. The next time it happened again and she pulled out another cassette that was a copy. I asked her how many copies she had in her purse and she casually said a lot.

And I don't accept that it's my own fault for how I dressed or whatever when I saw them acting that way to others or the fact that people in Venice, San Diego, Portland, etc, were way nicer to me, so the problem wasn't with me it was with the city.

And sense of community? I saw an old lady on a walker get trapped in crosswalk after the light didn't give her enough time to get to Golden Gate Park. Despite that the law says pedestrians have right away (at least it did back then) no one would let her pass, and the car she was blocking as a result blared on his horn. Luckily for her I was there to press the WALK button for her and made sure she was able to get across since no one else gave a damn about her, at least not the countless people who zoomed past heedless of the law that demand she have right away (and should've shown her respect and consideration anyway even if it wasn't law).

Not even Houston (which is the most violent city I've ever experienced, as opposed to the most rude) got that low (and I've seen Houstonians get pretty low themselves). That and more is why I said in response to Frisco banning handguns in the city as "it's not because guns are bad, it's because they're bad people (who wouldn't dare act that way if they knew the person they treated like dirt had a gun)."

Though come to think of it the panhandlers in Frisco WERE nicer than the ones in Houston...but there were also a lot more of them (and I wonder how many of them weren't locals).

It's possible it's changed since I was there in 2001, maybe there were some unusual circumstances I don't know about, and I'm sure there are areas that are nice that I just didn't get the chance to experience, but I simply can't agree at this time that San Francisco as a whole is a wonderful city.

Idk that seems like the average city life..
It's not a haven, no city is.
People honking horns, people stressed out.
I've in in san Francisco (before 2001) for most of my child hood. I use to roam around with my friends and people were genuinely okay. Maybe aloof is the right word.
I'm personally not interested in mingling with strangers on the street unless I feel a connection or strong attraction.

I do think san Francisco has their own niches maybe for an non local its hard to find place unless you're friend with trustworthy people who know there way around.
I've never really met any neo pagans in real life (unless they were hiding it), and I know a wide variety of people, so maybe that community just plain sucks in sf.
The communities that are popular in sf is ART/ LGBT

Besides strangers it seems your only friends was with neo pagan goths.
I can't vouch for sub cultures either.

Like I said the best way to meet people (anywhere) is going to local community events that bring people together. People are there to relax and meet others.

The good thing about San Francisco is no one cares, you can be who ever you want or dress the way that makes you happy and if you're awesome person people will accept you.
Plus individuality is admired in SF.

I never really liked fresco or the bay area for that matter.

Like all major cities it has it's good and bad areas.

It used to be much more violent than today, and was once called "The Big M" with "M" standing for "Murder." IIRC, that happened during hard economic times when, and I quote, "A bunch of Yankees came down stealing our jobs." And at least at one time (I think early 90s) it was also rated the place a cop was likely to be killed in the line of duty, too (though at least when I lived there and before then I wouldn't trust the cops either, it's a vicious circle).

As of the 90s violence decreased as it did everywhere. However, when I was a runaway in 1998 I stayed in an area known as "the combat zone" (Lower Westheimer, near Montrose), though I've heard the area is MUCH better now in terms of violent crime, though burglary is still a problem (coincidentally or not it's also much more prosperous) and now part of a cosmopolitan area called "Neartown." I haven't actually been back to check, however. But back when it was the "combat zone" it earned its name, I saw all kinds of violence, including a drive by shooting and also someone with half his head blown up being put in a body bag (and someone else had already been wrapped up), though that was from a distance for me (they'd been coming out of a gay club when both got shot with a shotgun, no one knew if it was a hate crime, crime of passion, gang hit, thrill killings, or what). I experienced violence, too.

Back when I lived there it was next to an area called The Elimination Zone, otherwise known as 4rth & 5th Ward, and I believed it when I heard cops didn't patrol it at night, and when they did go out there it was in full body armor and in a large group. An uncle of mine was given a pass by a Houston cop for carrying an illegally sawed off shotgun in his delivery truck once the cop found out he was going to be making deliveries to the Elimination Zone. I have no idea what it's like today, though I presume it's also less violent.

But fun fact, at least a few years ago (I think 2009, give or take a year) California was the most violent state for gun crimes and Texas for every other kind of violent crime (and of course the majority of these happen in major urban areas), an irony given that California comes down hard on guns and yet has the worst gun crime and Texas promotes gun ownership and carrying to prevent crime and yet its intense violent crime is often done without guns on unprepared people anyway ('course many violent predators do stalk the bars and bus stations for likely victims). And if Texas is one of the most violent states then that suggests Houston is one of the most violent cities.

Again, it depends on where exactly you are.
