How can One tell a difference between what One has "become" through life and its obstacles versus what One truly wants?? How do we know that the life we lead is what we want and not just something that "happened"?IP: Logged |

Great question. But ultimately, though we may not have achieved our desired destination or goal, we arrived where we are by making a series of choices (for the most part), combined with life's various curve balls, which also worked in unison with our combined choices. IP: Logged |

How does one know what one truly wants when one is unsure of where one will be tomorrow? Today one may want a large house, success in their career, or a philanthropic life providing benefit to others. Tomorrow, one may acquire a toothache and want only for the pain to stop. Needs change as life unfolds moment by moment and what we believe we want now is merely an estimation based on a projected trajectory. If what one truly wants is not harmonious with what one has become, one might need to reassess one's trajectory. We know the life we are leading is the life we want if we are present for the life we are leading. When one can take a broad inventory of one's life and say, "I am here", then it has been a life one has wanted so far (otherwise one would be elsewhere. Perhaps the past or the future). No matter the state of contentment one is in, life just happens to them. It's kind of a characteristic of life; the just happening. I feel the root to answering your question lies in the more simple question, "is one happy now?" Another thing to consider: Is the best life a life one wants? What about a life one is pleasantly surprised with, or a life which yields great understanding? Our mind and emotions rarely know what is best for us beyond the preservation of the body, within the present moment. If one is discontent with one's life, that could be a call for one to slow down, breathe, and look more deeply at one's habits. Astounding how complicated a simple one can make things. =) IP: Logged |

I know what I want to be, I want to be happy. I understand that I probably have an abysmal idea at how to achieve such a grand ideal, and that I am also currently very far away from such. There are plenty of times I feel like I may not get there and feel like giving up trying. I don't really see any other option really, I can either discover myself, and the world. Or I can do nothing but routine, day in, day out and when asked what is life about? Reply, "I don't know." ------------------ Learn lots. Don't judge. Laugh for no reason. Be nice. Seek Happiness. For me, I always admired people who found their passion but I never found mine. I had many things I liked but never anything I loved so much I would do free.
Finally, I found my passion and then I KNEW I was on the right track. No one had to tell me because I was so happy doing it and I got paid, too. ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

I am slightly odd in a way that I "partition" my brain in half and I have these conversations with myself, inside myself. Sometimes it goes so far that I actually don't know if I is I. IP: Logged |

That is certainly understandable. I was having fun with the whole "one" thing, but if you look at my comments elsewhere I'm poking a bit of fun at myself, because I use "one" as a generalizing term often. IP: Logged |

Right, but what I mean is that I float outside my physical body and then I start asking myself all these stupid existential questions that make no sense. I can sometimes feel myself sitting next to myself..I will blame all the Mercury in me IP: Logged |
