my 13 year old cousin is sexting. his mother is an Aries and she is strict. she has a special monitoring on his phone but it doesn't monitor all apps. he knows regular texts are monitored so he uses Kik messenger. we chat through it. but just today I noticed a message from him from another account he made on Kik. he accidentally sent me a picture of his private area!!!! I don't think he even realized it.

should I tell my cousin?

I feel bad because she is very strict and makes him miserable and I know she is gonna make his life a living hell when she finds out. she puts him down alot.

should I tell her? hes only 13 and if it was my child I would want to know.

my grandmother says I should tell her and have his step father talk to him about sexuality.

I think that you did the right thing. My first thought was that he could be sending those pictures to a child predator. I think if your cousin was a female and sent nude photos, it would be a no brainer to tell the parents, because girls are seen as victims that are being taken advantage of. With boys society seems to think it's acceptable for them to be sexual, and almost encourages it. This double standard should not exist, especially since girls on average mature emotionally and sexually faster than boys. They need to be taught about the consequences of this behavior just like girls do. Even if the pictures were being sent to someone his own age, they could come back to haunt him later.

Yeah, best...though I think telling the step-dad would've been better given what you said about his mom and let him decide how best to go about it. Unless of course it was likely that the mom would then march up to you later and demand why you didn't tell her first (well I'd tell her why but I understand if you preferred not to).
