Just sharing the happy news in my life. I finally got my son's commitment letter into college and the check for the deposit has cleared. He's officially on the freshman class for the class of 2018! Father and son took a little quality-time daytrip on Saturday and his mom took him to the other college on Sunday.

Haha.. dude.. Class of 2018 is the year that they are supposed to graduate. Actually, he'll graduate in 2019 because he has a specialized program with another degree.

That would be Harvard to study pre-medicine. And Juilliard School in Manhattan to study piano performance and composition.

Oh my bad... I skimmed it and saw freshman class 2018. I thought that seemed odd though.

Well, a distinguished degree is a sign of intelligence (of some kind) of course, but it's not a requirement you know I was just speaking based on my perception. You seem plenty smart too me.

Plus. It takes one to make one

Thank you. Modesty is a virtue that I frequently lack.

Yes, indeed, I'm one of those overly educated ones. But I believe that degrees are not entirely correlated with intelligence.

No perhaps not. Though I believe it takes at least a basic level, depending on the school and the course. And getting into Harvard is certainly impressive.

It seems to me at times though the most important characteristic is stubbornness

seeing this really makes me wish i had a father like you who put a fire under my arse, then maybe i could have gone to the yale drama school instead of central connecticut state university lol.

Thank you it's only college.

College doesn't determine a person's value. That is determined by whether the college graduate is able to make a difference in the lives of others, and not just. whether the college degree can further enrichen the life of the college graduate.
