Yup, my 3rd thread in a row. It's my day off and I need a break now and then from the project I am home working for. Aries Mercury short attention span and everything.

Regardless of that, I am curious about a little something. I have excellent impulse control, to the point that I have no impulses, technically. They've all been filtered, even the seemingly spontaneous ones. Uhm, what I mean is not that I lack spontaneity, far from, but I am.. rational about it, if that makes any sense? Meaning that I always calculate the possible risks and outcome of any sort of behavior. It makes me feel like a robot sometimes. It's like I never, and I absolutely mean never, lose the firm grip on myself and my self control. And in some instances, you really, really want to.

Idk, I've always thought it's from the Cap in me. Always being so damn proper and adequate. Never do or say anything weird or funny. Always anticipate what the people like to hear, receive, whatever. Social acceptability taken to OCD. *yawns* It feels like such a burden though, especially now with Mr. Uranus on my Aries back.

So, guys and gals, what about you? Anyone else in the same boat with me or are you laid back enough to let it all loose?

You have Pholus conj the Sun. You should check out Pholus and you may find much insight. It is exact too, so it makes it more potent.

I also have Lust conj Sun, Ami Anne, and it's not that potent

Idk, I never understood this Pholus character anyway. Maybe because I'm always distracted by its name seeming more like Phalus lol (there, maybe the Lust is a little potent).

What does it have to do with impulse control? If anything, I would blame Sat opposite Mars, both sq Asc for this. Plenty of impulses, always under strict scrutiny.. -_- Oh well. I suppose it IS better than to have little impulse control! Like in Nymphomaniac, even though I have not seen it yet.. but I anticipate I will have a hard time relating to Joe, because we're on different ends of the spectrum.

I always see you as very spontaneous and exceptionally outgoing.

It is a very good thing.

I always loved you at that other Forum, I feel your touch is sorely missed.

Pholus is ALL about impulse control. In fact, that is it's main thrust, so to speak

Pholus explodes what it touches. I have it conj Chiron. I explode my pain.

With the Sun, I think it would be very hard not to explode in work and various situations where your ego is dealing

Plenty of cap here and my behaviours aren't considered acceptable/proper, well mostly by the standards of my culture. Idk, even now I don't fit in and I feel ok. Mostly because I'm not in a position where I have to behave correctly, there is nothing to gain by doing so.

I'm not laid back. I worry about hurting people who are close to me. When I control myself, it's mostly because I don't want to cause them grief.

My impulses mostly are about my desires. When it comes to what I want, very few things stand in the way. Want = need = must have/must do. It's childish, primitive and it leaves little to no room for self improvement, but that's the way I like it.

Ami Ann: can I pls ask you what pholus square moon may mean ? It oppose my venus/uranus/neptune too.

Does Pholus conj Lust by 2 degrees or less? If so, I think it would be hard not to be a nymphomaniac, to be very honest.

I will look into it but for me at least, your take on Pholus is wrong. I don't explode. Ever. And I'm not a nymphomaniac
It seems to other people that I let steam out, for example, and I do, but I control it very well at the same time. I know exactly when and where to do it, and the right amount to let out to feel better and not let it destroy me or other people.

I think the world should be grateful, because otherwise with my chart I would've been QUITE the biatch. Not that I don't have my moments.

Cool thread, DM.

-I act on impulse, trust my impulses, make rather bold split-second decisions.

^ 9H Aries Jupiter exactly sextile Gemini Mars

-In hindsight, especially about anything serious, I am probably more often dissatisfied with what I've said or done than happy about it.

^ Sun exactly square Jupiter, sun exactly quincunx Mars. Moon square Mars. Saturn opposing Mercury. Sun square Pluto. My whole chart.

- I am pretty cautious overall, but the collateral damage and self-criticism from all these missteps akes its toll. So it's been important for me to learn how to disengage from my ego, empty my mind, and let it go. Because I will keep being impulsive and imperfect, and keep noticing it.

^ Cap Sun sextile Pisces moon, trine and sextile nodal axis.

That is good. Do you have a strong Saturn?

Do you have a Saturn aspect to your Sun? Do you have a Cappy ASC?

probably the mars.
and your mercury conjuncts mars too right?

See I would be like that but domicile mercury is like Uhhhh maybe that's not a good idea.
It only takes me seconds to think things through.

But sometimes if I know the odds are at my favor I'll do it in a split second.

Safe to say my mind and body are quick and I know my limits.
I don't really make too many miscalculations if things go horribly wrong it was just bad luck.

Yeah, I'm a fast thinker too, I make fast decisions (Aries Mercury). I know on the outside it seems like I'm being spontaneous but in my head I do think things through, but I take decisions faster I suppose. I do take risks and can be reckless - but in those situations I control my environment so it never actually gets out of my hand even if it may seem so.
It's worth mentioning that I wasn't always like this and it's only in social circumstances, I am not controlled when I am home alone for example.

Yes, Ami, I have a strong Saturn and Pluto and Cap rising. No Sun-Saturn, quite the opposite, I have Sun trine Uranus and Jupiter.

Hm. I also have Pholus conjunct Sun (although loosely, by 3 degrees...but the Sun is my chart Ruler, so...)

I think things through pretty thoroughly before I act, for the most part. I can be spontaneous, but I generally don't blow up.

In my romantic relationships, I can be a little different, though. I do have a wide orb, out of sign square from Mars to Uranus, so I'm capable of it. But the older I get, the more I think before I speak. Venus opposite Pluto isn't helpful in that sense, but like I said...the older I get.

I don't like to hurt people's feelings.
And if I speak before thinking when I'm really mad, I am pretty much guaranteed to hurt someone's feelings. So I try to think before speaking. :-/

Also, with Pluto in 3rd, it's taken me a lot of years to start realizing that I don't have to make a point with people. They can either figure things out for themselves or not.

I still get riled now and then, but it has to be something that really tweaks a raw nerve.

Or something that is so repetitive that I immediately blow a gasket because I'm sick of dealing with the same argument again and again with someone (usually a family member, my husband, etc.).

I have Capricorn Mars sextile Pisces Jupiter, and Virgo Moon trine Capricorn Vertex.
I also have Taurus MC, trine Moon and Vertex.

And then I also have Aries Venus opposite Libra Pluto (9th and 3rd, respectively).

But yeah, especially with things that could potentially affect my life long-term, I think things out VERY thoroughly before I act or make a decision.

I go on intuition and common sense, but the end all be all is intuition. Perhaps one of the only benefits of having Pisces Sun opposite Virgo Moon.

It helps balance out my Leo husband with his Sag Asc and Aqua Mars, hahaha.
We're a good balance for each other in that sense.

I admire your impulse control, Dance Dance Revolution. Haha

I hope this makes you laugh cause you're such a sweety.

I like to remain in control but I do notice that my impulsive behavior is brought on by hearing something being said to me or listening to music. It feels like a build up of that particular noise until it reaches a climax and BAM I strike. I'll either be pulling off some crazy move or I'll be doing my best to tear someone to pieces either verbally or physically. Unless I'm drunk. Then I am the most passive, "I am love, we are love, life is love" person you've ever met, no violent behavior whatsoever.

I've gotten in trouble my whole life for my fun spontaneous, no thought required impulsive ways but I've gradually stopped allowing this behavior in front of anyone but my closest confidantes. Unless you get me drunk, so that's when all bets are off!

My way to control those violent impulses is mainly by talking in my head over the other noise. Telling myself to calm down, forget about it, it's useless to argue. If someone is hellbent on arguing with me and I can feel that build up, I'll just react by dropping something. You pick something up, something heavy and you hold is at chest level in front of you and just let it go. It's cathartic. Usually this is random enough to make someone laugh too.

My Aries Ascendant's chart ruler Mars is in Aquarius, which is trine to my Venus in Gemini in the 3rd. I think this does relate to why conversation can fire me up easily. Especially conversation with a partner, Venus rules my 7th and Pluto sits there. So it's kind of like a snake under water and you're throwing stones, not knowing that a snake lurks beneath and is really bothered by what you're doing.

Hm. . . Uranus will definitely be asking you to shake things up!
