Apparently, Government is about to forbid soupkitchens and the like for homeless and less fortunate because quote "we don't want a Freak Show on our hands".

I.....don't know what to say.

In the US, they are moving toward this but the agenda behind it is ominous. They want to start putting people in FEMA camps. If it starts with the homeless, most people won't protest. Then, it will go to people who don't agree with the government. Remember that prayer by the wonderful German minister. They came for each group but people would not stand up. Then, when they came for me, there was no one to help

I thought the same but left it here. Apparently moving and closing threads is a problem when certain people do it so I'll leave here for the "deputy dogs" to decide.

I'm okay with it here.

Any Mods may close or move threads at their individual discretion. I'm not aware of any issues with that being a problem. I reopened a thread to make a comment, but I had no idea who closed it at the time. If there is a question, a Mod can always ask me first, but for the most part do as thou wilt.

I think there was confusion about that whole mods closing/moving threads.
It was the manner in which some of it was being done but as far as I know that's all cleared up, aka, people finally on the same Page
I only speak up now because I know I was a big part of that argument.

OP... That's very disturbing.
I'm not even sure what to say.
Any articles that you can link?
I'd be curious to read about it.

Right..hmmm...I see if I can find it but basically Swedish people are too "clean" for homeless people :-/ And having soupkitchens and "dirty people" littering our streets is not the way "we want it"...

One might ask what the purpose of Sweden opening up borders for refugees only to treat them like cattle.

Yeah... But where are they expecting them to go? Do they just want the "dirty" people to hide in the woods or something?

I emailed a Swedish friend of mine who pays close attentions to the political issues there and he explained it as a non-profit that handed out necessities (food, clothing, etc) to the homeless a central public square.

Some politicians grandstanded over it with arguments against it ranging from they were scared it would attract drug abusers/alcoholics by the hundreds which would overwhelm the police service (which would mean more crime overall, not just by the homeless). The founder said that had never happened before. One went so far as to say it would draw a "freak show." That comment gained a negative public reaction.

Public support for the program was so overwhelming that the politicians reversed their opposition to it and promised to allow it to continue or find another spot just as useful to them. So not only is the soup kitchen going to proceed as normal but the typical attempt of politicians to cater to the worst in people failed. All in all it's actually more of a feel good story, IMO, that paints Swedes as generally decent people.
