I have been following this story the entire day and it has really, really upset me. It really sickens me that there are people out there who feel entitled to murder others as a way to deal with their own pain. The fact this was suggested to be premeditated murders is really tragic.

The video the shooter posted before going on his rampage was very disturbing- I couldn't get through it. Here is a real-life example of a man blaming women for taking advantage of him 'being too nice' (his words, not mine) and saying he will punish them for his loneliness. He said he would 'slaughter' those who rejected him- I mean how does one talk about other human beings like that?

Here is an example of where PUA/MRA logic can harmful. No one, regardless of gender, deserves to be gunned down because they weren't sexually interested in someone. What is it going to take to make changes in gun laws? Once again, innocent people die and no changes are going to be made.

Ugh, sorry about this rant. I'm just so upset by this. Events like this make me want to never leave my apartment.

His Youtube vlogs are disturbing knowing what eventually happened. Before yesterday, they just would have been sad.

I've been following it too... partly because it happened locally. It's just horrible.

Yup this is absolutely terrible. I agree with everything you said. He had major mental health issues. It's not normal to feel this upset by rejection. Ariel Castro also said he was extremely upset by the fact that women rejected him all his life, and look what he did. This is exactly why I get annoyed by all the misogynistic **** on this forum. It's sick, and very dangerous.

"Girls gave their affection and sex and love to other men but never to me," he said in the video. He added that it would be his last video.

Schifman said Rodger was diagnosed as being a high-functioning patient with Asperger syndrome and had trouble making friends.

"There was an incident probably a year and a half ago where he was...he fell from a balcony at a party or was thrown off of it. I think he was probably a victim from my understanding of bullying throughout his life... I'm sure that had played a role in the terrible consequences from last night," the lawyer said.

What is also disturbing is that these thoughts are posted on internet sites everyday by people on PUA/MRA sites. This is a systemic thing going on- he was actually a member of these sites and would post frequently.

Edit: interesting that the sites he was on like PUAhate.com are deactivating their sites or deleting his posts. Take accountability for what messages your sites are promoting, not the cowardly way out.

I watched his last video and at first I thought he was acting and trying too hard to come across as a badass guy. Projecting all his issues onto "obnoxious" guys and "slu*s" and putting himself in a position of pseudo-superiority covering up major troubles with self-esteem or self-loathing.
It's really sick that some people literally kill others because of frustration with the opposite sex (or any other thing, for that matter). How damaged must one be to do such a thing.

May all his victims rest in peace, indeed.

So sad.... So sad.....
Seeing pics of a couple of his victims now. Young women that probably didn't even know him.

I can't believe they are pulling bodies out of his apartment. Horrifying!

His family called the cops on him months ago...

Have you seen the documentary Tough Guise? It discusses how men are perpetrators of violence but the media never talks about it. The documentary talks about how people use gun control and insanity and even race as reasons for violence but never mention that it often comes back to men, particularly white. It kind of blew my mind it was willing to tell the truth.

Hey. This has nothing to do with Aspergers. This guy so happens to have Aspergers. I just want to make that clear.

Otherwise, both AQ91 and myself are both guys with Aspergers. And therefore we must be dangerous. Give me a break.

Hey- just want to say I don't believe this has anything to do with his Asperger's, but I certainly understand your concern. I am discussing the systemic issues of his beliefs of women and the dangers PUA/MRA logic can bring.

But yeah, this isn't the first one like it. The infamous Luby's shooting in Texas was based in large part by a guy hating on women (he shot men as well but I believe only those who tried to stop him). My "favorite" was the guy who shot up women at a gym as his final blog post or whatever was something about looking forward to being with Jesus after he shot the beautiful (because, you know, he's entitled to that) women who refused to date him (he was a PUA guy, too).

Still, I'm much more worried about the guys who become threatening or hostile after being rejected who can kill one on one quite easily.

I learned about this on a men's forum earlier today where the men were condemning this guy's actions. I think it is a mistake to connect this guy to mgtow/pua/nice guys etc. because he is not representative of most guys in those movements/groups. After watching some of his videos it is clear that he was good looking and came from money. So he shouldn't have struggled with women .. His only problem was the fact that he was batshit insane... Just listening to him and looking at him made my skin crawl. Most guys who have the views he had are average everyday guys who struggle to attract women. They are not spoiled rich kids who have the time to sit and make videos and they aren't crazy.

I think he's rare although men do have a tough time dealing with rejection. They seem to react to rejection by a woman they like more than a woman from a man and they can get angry. They often feel lonelier than women. Men hate being alone. The stereotype for men is they can be by themselves endlessly, quietly working on little projects and they could care less if anyone is there while women have to be socializing, talking on the phone all the time. I have found the opposite to be true.

But let's just be real here.Women do not have to deal with rejection in the same way men do and you also have to realize that society at large has alot more sympathy for women. It is ok to belittle and make fun of men who get rejected by women and aren't popular. They call them neckbeards and fedoras. Alot of guys like that also get bullied and treated like **** . So its not hard to see why the ones who are already crazy end up going postal.

This is what I don't understand- where does all of this anger come from?

I thought this article was interesting:

That might be true but speaking individually regarding one man who is rejected by a woman he has a crush on and dreams about having a relationship with - it can really affect them even if they don't consciously acknowledge it since men are expected to put on a facade of indifference about stuff like that, pretending like they don't care. Men often take it very roughly if they had hopes of being with a certain woman.

This particular incident involves a man who is troubled so it's not the average scenario. From what I notice, men who feel frustrated tend to get really passive aggressive, not so much angry although some certainly can. I mostly notice irritability and passive aggression toward people.
